  1. I had the Tigers-Twins game on my computer. Epic game, what an ending. Definitely catch the second game tonight on my XM.
  2. They're back. I just heard my grill rattling so I stuck my camera out the window. Of course they scattered but I did get one of them...
  3. Week 3 results: Kelverin: 13-3 Volo: 12-4 Enoch: 11-5 GD: 10-6 Season Standings: Volo: 36-12 Kelverin: 30-18 Guard Dog: 29-19 Enoch: 25-22
  4. Drinking a beer, waiting for the coals to get right in the grill, waiting for Monday Night Football. Got my phone on silent so no one can bother. Life is good. Nice to see you again DR.
  5. Chad Pennington is out for the season. The Chad Henne era begins in Miami: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-d...0,5246633.story
  6. The Rocks and Giants keep losing and now we have a real race with a suddenly resurgent Atlanta club. By the way, nice job Fish losing 2 of 3 to the Mets at home. Oh and great job Leo Nunez for walking the bases loaded and then walking in the tying run after going into the 9th with a 1 run lead. Then giving up the game winning single. Hard to top that outing. Ironic actually, the Fish knocked the Mets out of contention last year, this year they did it to us. Rays may not finish above .500. What a disappointment. Keep ypur eye on the AL Central, Tigers and Twins are going down to the wire.
  7. Did anyone else catch the Tampa game? How about this, not a single first down for the Bucs through the first three quarters. When the offense finally moved the ball it was in the 4th quarter and the Giants were pretty indifferent about it. It isn't just bad.... it's beyond belief. And then when Morris decided to make a change a QB instead of putting in our "QB of the future" he puts in professional washout Josh Johnson, the only player I can think of to be cut twice in one preseason. Eighty six miserable stinking yards of offense was all they could come up with, and fifty seven of that was on one drive in the last five minutes. They gave up more yardage in penalites than they gained in offense if you take that one drive away. And the tackling....ugh. It's like thses guys have never played football before. Its not just losing... it's losing ugly. It's losing undiciplined. It's the blown assignments, the penalties, the bad tackling, the dropped passes, it's playcalling that makes no sense. Why in the world you try to run off tackle on 3rd and 8 when you are losing the line of scrimmage on every snap. It's too early to call Raheem Morris a failure but it starting to look that way.
  8. Padres beat the Rocks 5-4. Woohoo, everyone inches closer.
  9. The majority of water evidence (to be fair, what has been found in not water as we have it here but hydroxl) located in any abundance has been near the lunar poles. The Apollo landing sites are all near the lunar equator. The one mission that brought back the most samples bearing the greatest amount of evidence of water was Apollo 15 which landed at Descartes and was the northernmost landing. The fact that the Descartes samples contained evidence of past water is what fueled the then commonly believed theory that the moon was created from ejecta from the earth following an impact or volcanic event. It wan't until the orbiter Clementine photographed the poles back in the 80s that the beleif arose that there might be large amounts of water. Since then US, ES, Chinese, and now Indian probes have all gathered supporting evidence.
  10. No it's real. The chemical symbol is H3. It's been a long time since my last chemistry class but I think it can only exist as a solid at extreme low temps and it is very unstable in any other form. Would't H3 refer to a molecule with 3 H atoms in it, instead of an isotope with a couple extra neutrons in it (which is what tritium is)? I thought 3H was the normal notation (with the 3 superscripted). You're right, I wrtoe it backwards...
  11. Finally getting around to playing Icewind Dale 2. I've had it for at least six years now, never even opened it.
  12. I actually disagree with you on that one. I think the wildcards have been a real boon to the sport. If I were to get rid of anything is would be the DH. On that note, what does everyone think of the DH? If you like baseball you gotta have an opinion on that one. Epic win by the fish last night, victimizing Lidge yet again. Lidge had blown five saves vs the fish this year.

  14. It is an ideal nuclear fusion fuel. Excellent reactance and very high energy, without the down side of heavier fuels such as uranium and plutonium.
  15. The Constitution requires the federal government to secure the republic and defend the borders. It does not require (and I would make the argument does not permit) the federal government from administrating healthcare, nor compelling the citizens to participate in its largesse.
  16. Except for Tritium which is extremely valuable, if only the logistics of actually extracting it and bringing in back could be worked out. Perhaps in our lifetime but not now. But I would point out that the baby steps must be taken before the big things and the benefits they bring can be accoplished.

  18. Winter Is Coming.... Oh, wait... this isn't the book thread.
  19. CLE @ BAL - Ravens have been playing well on both sides of the ball. Browns...not so much. Ravens win. ATL @ NE - Pats rebound with a win. Patriots win. SF @ MIN - I smell upset! 49ers win. JAC @ HOU - I wonder if the Jags will change their name when the move to LA? Texans win. TEN @ NYJ - Are the Jets for real? No. Titans win. KC @ PHI - After getting blown out at home Eagles should rebound. Eagles win. GB @ STL - Rams are just terrible. Packers win. NYG @ TB - This will be uglier than a middle aged truck stop hooker. Giants win. WAS @ DET - Detroit burned me last week, but dammit they are due. Lions win NO @ BUF - Saints are one of, if not the best team in the league. Saints win. CHI @ SEA - I wonder which Bears team will show up? Bears win. PIT @ CIN - This has upset written all over it. But I'll play it safe. Steelers win. MIA @ SD - Dolphins are mad about last week, but for a great QB they would have (and should have) won. Dolphins win. DEN @ OAK - Two mediocre teams. Broncos win. IND @ ARI - Tough schedule for Indy, two very tough road games. Cardinals win. CAR @ DAL - Dallas rebounds. Cowboys win.
  20. I passed on the job opportunity today. For the first time in years I'm pretty happy with my situation. For the first time ever, money is not everything. It just goes to show how your values change as you get older. A few years ago I'd have backstabbed my own mother for a shot like that.
  21. Good article about the manager situation in Houston. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/6632313.html I remember the contrasts between the 97 Marlins and the 02 Marlins. The 97 bunch hated each other are were less than cordial with the fans. It was all business and no fun. In 02 it was all young guys, the mood around the clubhouse was light, you could tell the difference on the field. It was much easier to cheer for those guys.
  22. Yankees clinched. I forget who said this but: "Cheering for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in Blackjack."

  24. After the accident I had to give up running all together and really had to change how I did weightlifting (strictly low weight hi rep now). I would try swimming regularly but I live out in the sticks and there is no gym anywhere near thats in any way convienient. I did go buy a heavy punching bag and I work out with that almost every day, plus I bought a complete set of dumbells to do physical therapy with after the crash. But it's nothing compared to what I used to do. I can tell the difference, I watch what I eat so I have not gained weight, but I can tell my energy levels are not what they once were.
  25. Phils took the first of a doubleheader with the fish. Their magic number is 5. With that loss and the way the rocks are playing it looks like the Marlins six year cycle will come to an end. But I really can't complain, both they and the Rays had great seasons and kept it intersting late. I really pulling for Minnesota to close with the Tigers, that would be a great story. I guess for the playoffs I'm pulling for the Cards & Twins if they get in.
