  1. What a bummer. I know how you feel though, I got a little banged up in one of those myself back in January. Only my truck was totaled. I loved that truck. Hope this comes out ok for you.
  2. Heh, true enough. Thomas Sowell is one of the greatest economic minds the USA has produced in my liffetime at least. He had a really interesting quote of what superpower status should really mean. And I wholeheartedly agree with him: Before the Iraq war I was quite disturbed by some of the neoconservatives, who were saying things like, "What is the point of being a superpower if you can't do such-and-such, take on these responsibilities?" I thought the point of being a superpower is that people will leave you alone. Thomas Sowell
  3. Ditto. And everyone wonders why Americans don't give a damn if everyone else "likes" us or not. I won't lose a moments sleep knowing my continued existence or that of the country I love and have shed blood and sweat for causes consernation to the "internet intellectuals" in Europe, Australia, or where ever.
  4. Houston at Cincinnati: Texans are weak defending the run, Bengals are 3rd in rushing. Nuff said. Bengals win Detroit at Green Bay: Packers ha O-line problems are are leading the league in sacks. But the Lions are dead last in sacks so it's ok. Packers win. Baltimore at Minnesota: The two teams match up dead even in all stats. This one is hard to pick. Ravens win NY Giants at New Orleans: Better defense carries the Giants. Giants win Cleveland at Pittsburgh: Not going to be close. Steelers win. Carolina at Tampa Bay: Bucs get that firs W. Buccaneers win. KC Chiefs at Washington: Too close to get a feel. Chiefs win St. Louis at Jacksonville: Jags are a little better off than the hapless Rams. Jaguars win. Arizona at Seattle: Cardinals turn it areound starting this week. Cardinals win Philadelphia at Oakland: Raiders misery continues. Eagles win Tennessee at New England: Patriots should walk. Patriots win. Buffalo at NY Jets: Jets are looking to rbound, Bills are just looking. Jets win. Chicago at Atlanta: I don't know about this one, it depends on which bears team shows up. Falcons win Denver at San Diego: Sorry Chargers but the ponies are for real. Broncos win.
  5. More like an attempt at humor. And he's not a communist, but in terms of "American" politics his socialisim meter is definitely in the red. Hmmmm no pun intended there.
  6. News flash everyone, 50% of Americans do not like Barack Obama and want him gone in 2012. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_con...l_index_history I know I voted against him and sure as hell will vote against him in 2012 no matter who runs. He, and the political philosophy he represents, scares the heck out of me.
  7. Thats not fair. You're going to have to throw in a few cases of Bass and all of the players from the Manchester United for our World Cup team.
  8. Nah, Brits are always cool. Heck we're not even pissed at the French anymore since Sarkozy came along. Canada is ok because if they get out of line we'll just take another one of their hockey teams away. No one has anything against Scandinavians, Aussies, or Kiwis either. Would that the reverse were true...

    Books

Now reading The Good Soldiers by David Finkel. Excellent book following the lives of the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion 16th Infantry through the surge and beyond. Facisnating reading, once again reminding me how much the efforts and sacrifices by the military go unnoticed and unappreciated by those who have never lifted a finger for their country.
  10. Come to that we have also yet to see one that proves he's an American. Yes we have. What do God and Barack Obama have in common? Neither has a birth certificate! What's the difference between God and Barack Obama? God doesen't think He's Barack Obama! I got a million of em..... If you can't laugh at arrogant, naccissistic, self important and utterly humorless dirt bags like Obama who can you laugh at? *For the record, I am not a "Birther" I'm sure if he really was born in Kenya Hillary Clinton would have founf the proof and gleefully exposed it during the campaign*
  11. Anyone want to make a bet that Brady Quinn finishes the year in Washington? Also the Buccaneers are getting that elusive first win this weekend, I can feel it!
  12. I think you should go to Millington Tennessee. Check out some of the local bars... make sure you tell them how much the USA sucks while you there, I'm sure they would love to hear your thoughts on it...
  13. Had to get that one in, could not resist.
  14. Come to that we have also yet to see one that proves he's an American.
  15. Modesty and humility are praiseworthy traits in anyone and they certianly contruibute to someone'e "nice guy/girl" rating. However, they have no place in self assesments. We had those in my last job and I always hated it because it was like management saying "I have no idea who you are or what you do". However, you need to look at your self assesment in the same light as your resume. Only instead of getting a job you are trying to keep one, or advance in one. Sometimes doing either means outshining those people working right next to you. In my line of work my co-workers are not just people I work with but competitors for jobs and promotions and especially surviving the inevitable downsizing. You have worked hard to get where you are. Don't hesitate a moment to show it off. Don't embellish obviously but don't hold back either.
  16. Here is a juicy little nugget, just days after winning the Nobel Peace Prize Obama orders the escalation of the war in Afghanistan: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...?nav%3Dhcmodule I can't help but laugh at how quietly this was done. No press release or any announcment. I guess he didn't want thoses old birds on the Nobel comittee to find out. Also this is good stuff: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/13...er-buster-fast/ Hmmm, this thing has been in development for five years and Iran has just been caught with an ultra-secret underground weapons plant. Whats the rush Obama? Not planning any bombing missons are you? Those Nobel guys won't like that! Nor will all of the spineless little limp wristed liberals who think Iran will just give up their nuclear ambitions if we're just "nice" to them. *Note to all, please do not read any endorsement or derision of Obama or what he might do in this post. Irony is definitely my favorite typoe of humor and this was just too good.*
  17. This weeks results: GD: 10-4 Volo: 9-5 Kelverin: 9-5 Enoch: 9-5 Season Standings: Volo: 57-19 GD: 52-24 Kelverin: 49-27 Enoch: 46-30
  18. Good call on the 'Fins. That was a hell of a finish last night. Has there ever been a Dolphins - Jets game that was not fun to watch? Not too many. What a game.
  19. A little too close to dog for me...
  20. Not justified, different from what we were discussing.
  21. I know I'm going to regret this because engaging you in any serious discussion is the conversational equivalent of an out of body experience, but I betting you would be one of the ones to argue that the attack on Pearl Harbor was justified. I'm curious, do you think Nixon would have been justified in attacking OPEC nations in 1973? Or would Carter have been justified for attacking Iran in 1979? ... or Bush for attacking Iraq in 2003. *Ba-dum Tish* Apples and Oranges and you know it.
  22. Is anyone else surprised the Cards had so little bite to them? BTW, can nayone lend me $845,000,000? I'd like to buy the Cubs.
