  2. I set up a video camera on my back porch. Tonight I'm grilling, tomorow I'm posting coyote videos on youtube.
  3. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=ahpLpu9sKLyY A little nod to Di, Alanschu, Numbers, and of course to me and a few others for nailing the problem. I would not buy California bonds right now even if they accepted payment in dried dog poop.
  4. I hear he's also in line for the Nobel Prize in economics for solving our unemployment and deficit spending problems and solving the housing crisis. Oh wait, he has only made those worse too. What the hell, give it to him anyway. By the way, when can I expect my Pulitzer for the book I haven't finished writing yet?
  5. No. He won't. A US President is a United States President. Same as it ever was. We've come too far to have a president be a dove now. Fun Fact #2: Gandhi wasn't good enough.Ghandi believed blacks were inferior to Indians and believed in an India where Indians and whites would walk all over them. Oh God, here it comes....
  6. It's not about freedom, it's about decorum. A school is an institution designed to achieve a purpose. If a boy dressed as a girl is a distraction to people that is a flaw in ourselves as human beings. But for a school to function it must mitigate distractions and if they deem that to do that they must inconvience this one kid, then that is how it is. He does have other options and he can dress how he pleases after school of during after school functions like dances, football games, whatever. The same could be said of any business enviorment. It's their sandbox. You want to play in it you live by their rules. If thats unacceptable. go to school/work elsewhere. I have made the same argument against gays in the military. It is not as if gays made inferior soldiers, there is no evidence they do. There are certainly gays serving right now. It's that open homosexuality is damaging to morale. The fact that it is true again shows that we are flawed creatures because it should not be something anyone thinks about. But because it is a problem it must be avoided because the whole of the military must not be damaged to accomedate a few individuals. Not to change the subject, I was just trying to make a point.
  7. This is just plain wrong: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/09/florida.b...suit/index.html Another PR black eye for baseball.
  8. California is am excellent example of irresponsible government run amok. Too bad this thread got sidetracked because it would have made for interesting discussion. Illegal immigration is a problem, no one can dispute that. But it is not the root cause of California's issues. The root cause is out of control spending coupled with abuse of the tax payers. And that cannot be blamed on the bad US eceonomy as a whole because even this article points out that the exodus of people began back in 2004 when the economy was fine. The US is still a free country (for a little while longer at least). If your home state has punitive taxation and regulation you can move to a different state and escape it. If state malfeasence is damaging you business, you are free to fire all of your employees, move the business to a different state and start over there. And that new state would probably love to have you. In the US state government policy does not happen in a vaccum. This is why Marx said for socialism to work in must be inescapable.
  9. Thats true, not like this "award" has any credibility to begin with. Still, if he had even a shred of integrity he would decline it. But his rampant narcissisim will not allow him to do that.
  10. Well, we all know now I'm better at handicapping football games than baseball games!
  11. I think you posted this in the wrong thread Fio.
  12. Unbelievable. How ironic is it that he wins this "award" (hard to call it that because he hasn't done a thing to promote peace anywhere) on the eve or ordering more troops to Afghanistan. Whatever credibility this "award" has is gone.
  13. I lost interest in this thread when it became the illegal immigration thread. But this is too funny not to post. It came to me via email some time ago. I make no claims as to the accuracy of the numbers or anything else and I am posting it for humor and discussion purposes only!
  14. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/...team-is?cnn=yes Looks like the Cowboys are still "Americas" team. I can't believe the Eagles finished #3. Ugh. I'd put them at next to last, just above the Raiders.
  15. besed on your posts I'd bet you are a really mild tempered nice guy who never gets too mad or too happy. But you gotta be careful, those are the kind of people who snap one day and walk into a crowded train station with a loaded assault rifle and go nuts.
  16. There is no bigger advocate on this board for individual liberty than me, but the school is right here. A certain level of decorum is required in the workplace/school and it is certainly incumbent on the party responsible to ensure that it exists. If that means uniforms or dess codes then thats what it means. Once you get out of that enviorment you can dress however you please. If you find that unreasonable there are usually alternatives up to and including dropping out.
  17. This thread had great potential but it kinda fell down into one of the old thread sinkholes that pops up around here and everyone takes the usual, predictable, and God knows tired old positions. Ho hum. In fact reading some of the posts here I get the strangest feelings of deja vu. I could swear we've all said the exact same things before.... and after a quick forum search...we all have! I think I'll go pour a drink and wait for the Coyotes to show up.
  18. I saw flashes of goodness (not greatness) in Josh Johnson in the Bucs game this week. I'd rather have seen Josh Freeman though. As for Farve, I don't know what he's on but he can still play. I am curious to see the reaction he'll get in Green Bay but to tell the truth I'd be very surprised if it was not positive.
  19. WOW! What a game. It had everything a Baseball fan could want, great plays, hight drama, thrilling finish. It reminded me of game 7 of the 97 series. So we got Red Sox - Angels, Yankees - Twins, Rockies - Phillies, and Dodgers - Cardinals. Any predictions? I would be interested to see a Dogers - Yankees WS, or a Dodgers - Angels series but to tell the truth, I don't expect the Dodgers to get past the first round. The Dodgers really backed into the playoffs and the Cardinals have the best pitching staff in the NL so I expect the Cardinals will take that series in short order. The Red Sox have much better pitching 1-3 with Beckett, Lester and Buchholz but they have injury problems and the Angels are the second best run producers in the league. Sorry Lady Crimson, I think your boys are going down but I'm betting they do it in 5. Minnesota walks out of that game tonight, straight into a buzz saw. They did not beat the Yanks at all this season and I don't expect that to change. Sorry Cinderalla, it's midnight. I lke the Rockies to beat the Phillies, they are finishing the season red hot, Philly has lost 4 of their last 6 and have not showed much heart.
  20. While I will agree that illegal immigration is a terrible strain on any economy, making the case that it is the bullet that killed California is just not correct. Don't get me wrong, it is a big part of the problem but it's like complaining about a flat tire when the engine is shot. CAs problems are plummeting State revenue. The only way to fix that is to entice business and people to come back, buy houses, spend money, live their lives there. And the only way to do that is cut taxes. California needs to reform its regressive and punitive tax structure, cease harrasing business right out of the state with unreasonable regulation, and for Gods sweet sake, stop spending money the state does not have. Yes that means state employees won't get free breast implants. And yes that means fewer programs for the poor and illegals. If they don't then poor and illegals is all California will have and as they are finding out now, those folks don't pay taxes. But they won't. The state will find some way to raise taxes again and drive out more and more people until it's economy collapses and the Federal government will be compelled to "bail it out". Of course that means taking money from other States who did not manage their economies like drunken sailors on a 72 hour liberty. And the people in those states will be pissed when California takes their money and continues to do business as usual until that runs out. I believe it was Reagan who quipped "Government is like a baby, an insatiable appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."
  21. But... but why?! No kidding. He would have been royally screwed on the price unless it was some cheap Saturday Night Special. If you wanted to get rid of them Aram, just sell them. I just bought a Weatherby 7mm Mag rifle last week. I certainly would not give that up for a pair of movie tickets or whatever you got.
  22. Hmmmm anyone here want to guess WHY Califonia is in such sorry shape with such high unemployment? I'll give you a hint 75% of the answer is in this paragraph: Now, incredibly, California, which has been a natural target for immigration throughout its history, is losing people. Between 2004 and 2008, half a million residents upped sticks and headed elsewhere. By 2010, California could lose a congressman because its population will have fallen so much
  23.
