  1. Hmmmm. Are you sure he worked there and wasn't just some nut in a clown suit?
  2. I slept with a Wiccan girl once. Does that mean I have wiccan too?
  3. HOU at BUF: Texans CLE at CHI: Bears SEA at DAL: Cowboys DEN at BAL: Ravens SF at INDY: Colts MIA at NYJ: Jets NYG at PHI: Giants JAX at TEN: Oilers OAK at SD: Chargers CAR at ARI: Cardinals MIN at GB: Vikings AT at NO: Saints No time for commentary this week...
  4. Actually, most politicians have trouble grasping that concept as well. Just ask tobacco retailers in New Jersey! Maybe Sand should run for office.
  5. I live way out in the sticks. My nearest neighbor is 4 miles away. Very little is illegal out here.
  6. I like the Yanks in five. And I think planned double headers were great. I wish they would revisit especially in the summer when the kids can go.
  7. I'm curious... do you believe perpetrators of violent crime can be helped by "rehabilitative" punishment given the very very high rate of recidivisim in violent offenders? Second, have you ever been or know anyone (someone close to you if there is such a person... kinda doubt it in your case) who has ever been the victim of a violent crime? I'm betting....no.
  8. I don't worry about them except that they make a mess. They knock the grill over, drive the dogs bonkers, usually in the dead of night. If they get too bad I just put my shotgun out the window and fire a shot in the air. That usually scatters them and keeps them away for a while. I keep trying to get pics of them though but my camera is crappy and they move fast. This is the only pic I've gotten so far:
  9. And the cycle begins elsewhere: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/tax_ref...71UXIc0i6cd3UpK
  10. Prediction: I will be visited by Coyotes later. I know because I'm grilling chicken tonight. Preditction: I will probably be too drunk to care if and when they do come because I've only been home for 20 min and I'm already on my second drink. Preditcion: I will watch the Baseball game tonight but will probably have to check the net in the morning because I won't remember who won. Prediction: At least one of you out there wishes they were doing what I'm doing tonight!
  11. The later the WS is held, the more likely this will be so. It's almost an argument for all covered stadiums. Actually it's an argument to tighten up the doggone playoff schedule. Baseball is an every day sport. So many days have been wasted since the playoffs began the WS could have been over by now. I realize the point is to maximize ratings but they are doing a disservice to the players and the quality of the game. Just look at las years WS as an example. But, that won't change.
  12. Prediction, no matter who wins the WS at least two games go deep into extra inning and end with a score that would look more like a Giants Eagles game.
  13. This weeks results: Kelverin: 10-3 Volo: 10-3 Enoch: 8-5 GD: 8-5 Season Standings: Volo: 70-33 GD: 68-35 Kelverin: 67-36 Enoch: 62-41 Volo is alone in front again.
  14. I've read LotR many times over the years and I always thought it was a great story told somewhat ponderously. As an adveture story it is good but I never thought it was a crowning achievement in western literature and I've never understood the folks who do. And I've found most of the one's who do are Brits. I guess they might be just national pride but considering the contributions of Bitish writers like, oh I dont know, Milton, Bacon, Shakespere, Austin, Mallory, Dickens, you might have heard of these folks, far outshine anything Tolkien wrote? In that scope the Wheel of Time series wouldn't even register.
  15. Exactly why I buy all of my clothes, tools, appliances, etc at Sears. If they had groceries I'd never have to go anywhere else. Sears at least knows men are still men. And Outdoor World too. You won't find any fussy effeminete men, or merchandise geared towards them, in there.
  16. Green Bay at Cleveland: Packers have a lot of question marks, Brown have a hell of a lot more. Packers win San Diego at Kansas City: Weather will be a factor. Chiefs win. Indianapolis at St. Louis: An unusually long scrimmage for Indy today. Colts win Minnesota at Pittsburgh: Once again weather will be a factor. Big Ben will be a bigger factor. Steelers win. New England at Tampa Bay: Hey Coach Morris, what is this hand basket we're in and where are we going? Pats win. SF 49ers at Houston: This game will come down to QBs, and Schaub is better. Texans win close Buffalo at Carolina: This one could go either way but Carolinas O is better and the Bills D. Panthers win NY Jets at Oakland: If the Jets lose this one they had better stay in Oakland, a lynch mob will be waiting at JFK. Jets win Atlanta at Dallas: Cowboys are a paper tiger. Falcons win. Chicago at Cincinnati: Cincy screwed me last week but I'll give them another chance. Begals win. New Orleans at Miami: Only a real gambler would vote against the Saints right now. So I'm a gambler! Dolphins win! Arizona at NY Giants: If this were in Tempe I might go the other way. In New Jersey the Cards are dead. Giants win. Philadelphia at Washington: Go Redskins. Eagles win.
  17. What a 9th inning last night (it was all I watched truth be told).
  18. Good for you, although that's some rather pricey bourbon to be mixing up with ginger ale. Save the good stuff for the sipping! Oh it was just a splash to give it a little fizz I assure you. My brother gave me a case of Woodford Reserve for my birthday last year. Now that stuff you drink neat or with just a little ice. I used to be strictly a beer man but I have really gotten to appreciate bourbon as I've gotten older.
  19. I'll read it.... later. I'm with Hurlie, it's hard to get back into that one after a long layoff.
  20. I am very uncomfortable with that whole idea. Obama has absolutely no constitutional power to regulate the pay of anyone not working for the government. This was one of the reasons I was so adamantly opposed to any private company being "taken over" by the government because it suddenlt means the government is no longer the neutral referee bound to abide by it's own laws but a business partner granted extraconstitutional powers over a private entity simply by the nature of it's investment in said company. So, these companies shook hands with the devil accepting bailout money and it's no surprise that when you do that you will do it in hell. But the Obama admin is arrogant in the exteme and might well use the fact that they are going to get away with this to push for more regulation, this time on companies and individuals that did not accept government "partnership". When that happens it will be time to fight. With speech, legislation, and ballots of course. While in the Illinois Senate Obama was in favor of a maximum as well as minimum wage. He may want to try to make it happen now. Suddenly Ayn Rand is making more and more sense.
  21. Sooo barring a miracle we are looking at a Phillies - Yankees World Series. Ugh. Anyway they could both lose? I can not think of a less interesting match up. Oh I'll probably watch.... but I won't like it.
  22. I just got home. Dogs are happy. I'm going to pour myself a drink (Knob Creek and Canada Dry), followed by another, and another, and sabotage myself right out of sobriety.

    Money

On a serious note, Krezack are you familiar with an investment strategy called bottom feeding? The idea is to look for a penny stock (that is a stock whose common share is less than $1 US) that is a little volitile over a three to six month term. If it is bouncing in a somewhat predictable way you put in a buy and sell order at the same time. For example if GD Enterprises has a stock price of $0.75 and during the last six months the price has been below $0.60 and above $0.80 more than once or twice you put in a buy order at $0.60 and a sell order at $0.80. To make this work you need to go big, $10k-$15k. Once the sale triggers you have a positive return of $0.20 per share This is usually best accomplished with penny stocks because they are more volitile and will swing more and you can afford to buy bulk. A $0.20 swing when you own five hundred shares is beneath notice, a $0.20 swing when you own 7500 shares is a happy moment. I have used this in the past and was able to rack up a small but nice sum of cash from time to time. I paid for a tile floor in my first house this way. But it is not for the faint of heart because these companies stocks are low because their worth/performance/stability are low. And you need to do extensive reseatch or you'd be better off with the coke and hookers.
  24. Lets see... In my life and career I have: Run for public office - Fail Got married - Fail Started two businesses - Double fail Went broke - Major fail Graduated College - Ok I did get that one done but there were times it could have gone either way Landed a high paying job with a major company - Fail Either I'm screwing myself up left and right or I just have really, really bad luck. In light of that track record I think you should all kneel in my presence... for I am the King of SH!
  25. I believe she can restock food and water and still have the voyage be unassisted, she just cannot add or repair hardware with anything other than whats on the boat now. The thing is, the course she is taking will mean that ports will be few and very far between.
