  1. WOW! What a game. It had everything a Baseball fan could want, great plays, hight drama, thrilling finish. It reminded me of game 7 of the 97 series. So we got Red Sox - Angels, Yankees - Twins, Rockies - Phillies, and Dodgers - Cardinals. Any predictions? I would be interested to see a Dogers - Yankees WS, or a Dodgers - Angels series but to tell the truth, I don't expect the Dodgers to get past the first round. The Dodgers really backed into the playoffs and the Cardinals have the best pitching staff in the NL so I expect the Cardinals will take that series in short order. The Red Sox have much better pitching 1-3 with Beckett, Lester and Buchholz but they have injury problems and the Angels are the second best run producers in the league. Sorry Lady Crimson, I think your boys are going down but I'm betting they do it in 5. Minnesota walks out of that game tonight, straight into a buzz saw. They did not beat the Yanks at all this season and I don't expect that to change. Sorry Cinderalla, it's midnight. I lke the Rockies to beat the Phillies, they are finishing the season red hot, Philly has lost 4 of their last 6 and have not showed much heart.
  2. While I will agree that illegal immigration is a terrible strain on any economy, making the case that it is the bullet that killed California is just not correct. Don't get me wrong, it is a big part of the problem but it's like complaining about a flat tire when the engine is shot. CAs problems are plummeting State revenue. The only way to fix that is to entice business and people to come back, buy houses, spend money, live their lives there. And the only way to do that is cut taxes. California needs to reform its regressive and punitive tax structure, cease harrasing business right out of the state with unreasonable regulation, and for Gods sweet sake, stop spending money the state does not have. Yes that means state employees won't get free breast implants. And yes that means fewer programs for the poor and illegals. If they don't then poor and illegals is all California will have and as they are finding out now, those folks don't pay taxes. But they won't. The state will find some way to raise taxes again and drive out more and more people until it's economy collapses and the Federal government will be compelled to "bail it out". Of course that means taking money from other States who did not manage their economies like drunken sailors on a 72 hour liberty. And the people in those states will be pissed when California takes their money and continues to do business as usual until that runs out. I believe it was Reagan who quipped "Government is like a baby, an insatiable appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."
  3. But... but why?! No kidding. He would have been royally screwed on the price unless it was some cheap Saturday Night Special. If you wanted to get rid of them Aram, just sell them. I just bought a Weatherby 7mm Mag rifle last week. I certainly would not give that up for a pair of movie tickets or whatever you got.
  4. Hmmmm anyone here want to guess WHY Califonia is in such sorry shape with such high unemployment? I'll give you a hint 75% of the answer is in this paragraph: Now, incredibly, California, which has been a natural target for immigration throughout its history, is losing people. Between 2004 and 2008, half a million residents upped sticks and headed elsewhere. By 2010, California could lose a congressman because its population will have fallen so much
  5. This weeks results: GD 13-1 Volo 12-2 Enoch 11-3 Kelverin 10-4 Season Totals: Volo 48-14 GD 42-20 Kelverin 40-22 Enoch 37-25 FYI, Enoch did not make a pick on the first game so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and a win so everyones records are based on the same number of picks. Edit: Doh! Fixed it. Thanks Gfted!
  6. I thought I was in major trouble this afternoon. The dogs were outside and one of the damned coyotes appeared in my yard in broad daylight. I thought there was going to to be a major dog fight but they just stared and sniffed at each other. The moment I got up to get my shotgun the coyote took off. Pretty smart, I wasn't going to shoot him but he didn't know that.
  7. There must be a sick little boy somewhere praying for the Twins to win it all. Because only divine intervention can explain that Tigers total collaps on Saturday night. So it's on now. On Tuesday, one game playoff between the Tigers and the Twins. I will be parked in front of my TV with beer in hand!
  8. So far everyone did well. That Dallas Denver game was the best one today. The Bucs stunk of course but no news there.
  9. Don't ever date a lawyer. I'm telling you, there is something not right about them. They do something to them in law school that turns them into dysfunctional people.
  10. Detroit at Chicago - Can the Lions go two in a row? No. Bears win Cincinnati at Cleveland - As Enoch put it, Browns are a mess. Bengals win Seattle at Indianapolis - Hard to bet against Indy this year. Colts win NY Giants at Kansas City - KC is giving up over 350 yds per game and now the Giants are in town. Uh-oh. Giants win Baltimore at New England - I will defiitely be watching this one. Ravens win Tampa Bay at Washington - Bucs are depserate but Washington will be mad after last weekend. Redskins win Tennessee at Jacksonville - Both of these teams are disappointing this year. Jags win Oakland at Houston - I think last week was a fluke and the Texans are pretty good. Texans win NY Jets at New Orleans - I've picked against the Jets every week and they have burned me evey week. Here's to persitience! Saints. Buffalo at Miami - Dolphins finally get the W and Henne has a big start. Dolphins win. St. Louis at San Francisco - The Rams are on the clock. 49ers win Dallas at Denver - Barber is back this week but there is no D in Dallas right now. Broncos win San Diego at Pittsburgh - Steelers rebound with a win. Steelers win. Green Bay at Minnesota - I wish this game was in Green Bay. Vikings win.
  11. Looks like the playoff picture is pretty well set. The only Drama remaining is if the Tigers will clinch before the weekend and if the Rocks can overtake the Dodgers. Also the Cars have just a two game edge on the Phils for top seed.
  12. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Jaw=dropped. I know what you mean. Rich bloke, too. It's not like he needed them to be worth more. Hmm, a rich person doing something needless and destructive to make himself slightly richer? Surely this is an unheard of phenomena. *nods sagely* You are a one trick pony aren't you?
  13. I watch The First 48 on A&E all the time and I am always amazed at how real police work compared to CSI, Law and Order, etc. My biggest running laugh is the pastel clad faries on CSI Miami who only seem to have murder victims on South Beach, Key Biscayne, Sunny Isles, Adventura and the othe ritzy parts of town. I'd like to see them in "real" Miami. Like Overtown, Liberty City, Pork and Beans, or Little Haiti. It would be funny.

Now reading the Flash Technologies PC-324/M Users Manual and Installation Guide. Scintillating stuff I kid you not.
  15. Sorry Sluggo but dried and powdered coyote pee doesn't sound like a good investment to me. I've got the shotgun loaded and sitting by the loft window. The screens already out. If they come calling tonight I'll be ready. I might try to get a few more pics first.
  16. If you pump a 13 year old girl full of drugs and have sex with her it's rape no matter what. If he thought it was all right he would not have fled. I really cannot believe anyone would be defending him. I'd put this greasebag in Folsom or San Quentin and promise one of the big queens there a carton of Marlboros a week to take a special interest in him. He deserves to find out what rape is all about.
  17. It's important not to fall too far behind. If you get 8-10 games behind everyone you end up looking for the upsets every week just to gain ground on everyone. Thats why it's better to play safe in the first few weeks. Hard to argue with Volo's start though.
  18. I had the Tigers-Twins game on my computer. Epic game, what an ending. Definitely catch the second game tonight on my XM.
  19. They're back. I just heard my grill rattling so I stuck my camera out the window. Of course they scattered but I did get one of them...
  20. Week 3 results: Kelverin: 13-3 Volo: 12-4 Enoch: 11-5 GD: 10-6 Season Standings: Volo: 36-12 Kelverin: 30-18 Guard Dog: 29-19 Enoch: 25-22
  21. Drinking a beer, waiting for the coals to get right in the grill, waiting for Monday Night Football. Got my phone on silent so no one can bother. Life is good. Nice to see you again DR.
  22. Chad Pennington is out for the season. The Chad Henne era begins in Miami: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-d...0,5246633.story
  23. The Rocks and Giants keep losing and now we have a real race with a suddenly resurgent Atlanta club. By the way, nice job Fish losing 2 of 3 to the Mets at home. Oh and great job Leo Nunez for walking the bases loaded and then walking in the tying run after going into the 9th with a 1 run lead. Then giving up the game winning single. Hard to top that outing. Ironic actually, the Fish knocked the Mets out of contention last year, this year they did it to us. Rays may not finish above .500. What a disappointment. Keep ypur eye on the AL Central, Tigers and Twins are going down to the wire.
  24. Did anyone else catch the Tampa game? How about this, not a single first down for the Bucs through the first three quarters. When the offense finally moved the ball it was in the 4th quarter and the Giants were pretty indifferent about it. It isn't just bad.... it's beyond belief. And then when Morris decided to make a change a QB instead of putting in our "QB of the future" he puts in professional washout Josh Johnson, the only player I can think of to be cut twice in one preseason. Eighty six miserable stinking yards of offense was all they could come up with, and fifty seven of that was on one drive in the last five minutes. They gave up more yardage in penalites than they gained in offense if you take that one drive away. And the tackling....ugh. It's like thses guys have never played football before. Its not just losing... it's losing ugly. It's losing undiciplined. It's the blown assignments, the penalties, the bad tackling, the dropped passes, it's playcalling that makes no sense. Why in the world you try to run off tackle on 3rd and 8 when you are losing the line of scrimmage on every snap. It's too early to call Raheem Morris a failure but it starting to look that way.
  25. Padres beat the Rocks 5-4. Woohoo, everyone inches closer.
