Fallout Developers Profile: Chris Avellone, Part 2
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Is this why the developers never post on their own forums - because they've all been banned for bad language? Tut tut. This is no example to be setting impressionable youth - or impressionable thirtysomethings, for that matter. -
What R Yo Fav 3 Games Of All Times
SteveThaiBinh replied to The Illuminator's topic in Computer and Console
I would guess he's a native speaker. He's not making the kind of mistakes that a genuine learner would make. Unless, of course, he's getting someone to check his posts before he puts them up. Edit: Can't be sure though - the strange use of 'lacknesses' might suggest otherwise. My favourite three games: Quest for Glory series (QfG2 is best) Gabriel Knight series (GK1 is best) The Longest Journey (pleeease let Dreamfall be good) -

Age of char in k1 and k2
SteveThaiBinh replied to Weaponmaster303's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Is promotion by age or merit? Maybe she sucked up to the Jedi Council and they let her on early - she looks the type. I didn't get the feeling in the game that she was old, so the white hair may be something else. Could she be Echani (if that's a racial group)? Or part-Echani? Maybe she dyes it to emphasise her purity. -

If you're playing as a male Exile, there's a possibility that there was some romantic attachment, in Atris' mind at least. So probably not much older than the Exile (however old he is). -
help , stuck at Nar Shaddaa
SteveThaiBinh replied to Diosanta's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's possible to trigger the meeting without paying 2000 credits, but you need to have been careful, consistently angering or pleasing the exchange. If you've done everything w666tvr suggests, then you'll have to pay the money and hope that's enough. If it's not, then you're really stuck. -

Look At This!!!! Kotor III???
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you say so. I would have thought that if a new game were being developed for the XBox 360, Microsoft would have to know about it (given that the machine's not available yet). -

Thanks for that. It's still a rumour, of course, but here's hoping. -
I thought it was a spoof - you know, like a satire on how the media gets its priorities wrong. "And in other news, a tsunami kills 100,000 people in Asia - and now the sport..."

Wag the Dog is funnier. Equally disturbing, though.

The title of the thread is "Was (Darth) Revan Evil?". I have disagreed with your views, but I haven't insulted them, and I'd appreciate the same consideration. So I'm Revan, I've just won the Mandalorian Wars and discovered the Star Forge. Do I: A) Use the Star Forge to build up a massive army, wait for the True Sith to arrive and use my fleet to defend the galaxy or even offer it to the Republic for that purpose. B) Declare myself Darth Revan, launch a massive war against the Republic, causing immense loss of life, demoralisation/war-weariness, destroying half the Republic's defensive capabilities and weakening my own at the same time. Even leaving good or evil out of it, option B doesn't look like the best way. It's not her decision to make. How dare she take it upon herself to 'save the galaxy' from some unknown threat that she won't even tell anyone about! If she has evidence of a threat, let her tell the Republic Senate - the Jedi Council - the media - anyone at all. No, there wasn't any evidence - it's Iraq and WMDs all over again. If you don't like the word 'evil', that's fine - I don't find it helpful in these discussions, because as you say, it means different things to different people. Revan was a mass murderer - surely we can agree on that? You may say that it doesn't matter - what matters is whether she saved the galaxy. Fine - she saved the galaxy from the True Sith. Why couldn't she have saved it from herself and Malak as well? I will take a lot of convincing that the True Sith would have been worse than what Darth Revan and Malak did to the galaxy - but that also is not the point. The point is that it was not their right to make that choice on behalf of the whole galaxy.

Ever heard of... wait for it... Darth Malak? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, and I'm well aware of who decided to make Darth Malak her apprentice. That was Revan's choice, and if Malak goes insane after her death and starts blowing up the galaxy, Revan bears a fair amount of the responsibility for that. She knew what he was. She put a vicious madman in a position of power where he ordered millions of deaths. Tell me again how good she was. I'm sure she didn't want it in ruins - she wanted it united and strong and with her in control. Only a madman like Malak would deliberately seek to destroy the territory he hopes to rule soon. If Revan had truly been concerned with saving the galaxy I don't believe she would have chosen the path she did. She wanted to save the galaxy from the True Sith so that she could have power for herself. That's evil. As I said, I'm willing to concede that we can't know this for sure, until we know exactly who and what the True Sith threat is. But if they're any kind of conventional military or Sith-like threat, then I think Revan's actions just weakened the ability of the galaxy to defend itself.

Kill the mouse and remove the bloody corpse from your printer. Then give the printer a quick wipe and continue using it. You may be thinking "But that's evil ! I can't kill a poor defenceless mouse!" Ah, but you're wrong, killing the mouse is neutral, not evil, for the following reasons: 1. It serves your purposes, and isn't a random killing. 2. Your alignment meter doesn't shift to DS when you do it, so it must be OK. 3. You're aware of the possibility that this might be evil, therefore it can't be. 4. Killing a few mice now is necessary in order to avert a greater threat, the True Threat, which is expected to arrive any day now, honestly. So go on, splat that pesky rodent with a smile on your lips and a song in your heart.

That's what they say. And yes, I think it might be good. I feel no desire to go and see the Tom Cruise one, that's for sure.

Discworld Noir was good - funny, with good dialogue and voice-acting (not sure about Lewton, but everyone else was good). The other Discworld games weren't so good - find object, use object, find object, use object... -
Revan was evil. The only question is exactly when he fell. Was it before he left for the Mandalorian War, or sometime during it? I'd suspect the latter, but I can't remember all the details offhand.

This is where there is a glimmer of hope. He also gave an expected time for TLJ, which was probably a third of the time it took me. Maybe he's trying to attract non-adventure console types (Look, it's not long! It's nice and short and fluffy! Buy it! :D ) However, I reserve the right to remain officially worried. -
I like the first page - very tentacular.

That's worrying me, too. I was so looking forward to this game, and Tornquist reckons it can be finished in 15 hours. Why should I pay full price for this? -
Revan here, Revan there (Aug 31)
SteveThaiBinh replied to aimo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps you could continue the argument by PM? That would leave the thread clear for important messages such as: Aimo's artwork is excellent !!! (w00t) :D -
The fact that in the Exile's time, ten years later, the True Sith still haven't arrived, suggests that Revan either made a huge miscalculation or was just plain evil. Ten years is enough even for the Jedi Council to investigate, deliberate and get its act together.
-
Hmmm, maybe. I can't disprove what you say. Perhaps if Kotor 3 is made and we find out what exactly this 'True Sith' threat is, then we can judge whether this was the only way to save the Galaxy, or just a bloody power trip.
