The Church of England meets Star Wars
SteveThaiBinh replied to SteveThaiBinh's topic in Way Off-Topic
If you look at the series as a whole, yes, there's redemption and the triumph of good. It's still remarkable to see an established religion embracing something which is so 'new age' - the Force is the kind of woolly 'Oh, we believe in something but we're not quite sure what' belief that church leaders rail against. -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yo...ire/4624081.stm Do they know they're celebrating the triumph of good over evil with a film in which evil triumphs over good? :D I wonder what the lyrics of the Star Wars hymn might be...

no! all of that hard work!

You're right, that should have triggered it - in fact, you should get the message when you return to the Ebon Hawk on Dxun, before you have a chance to leave the system. Try reloading from immediately after you get back from Onderon, and going back to the Ebon Hawk again. Do you have any other non-bonus quests still open? -
There were some real problems with Ultima 8. First of all, there wasn't enough jumping from platform to platform. Then when the patch came out there was a new bug that allowed you to jump wherever you liked, rather than a fixed distance every time - totally confusing and counter-intuitive. However, they did succeed in getting rid of most of the boring dialogue and storytelling that so plagued the previous games in the series.

Are you sure you've completed all the planets? It's possible that you've missed something. Which Jedi have you met? -
What's Your Favorite Gaming Moment?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Dark_Lord_Revan's topic in Computer and Console
If you wish. The game's quite old, though. -

Dosbox. The game runs perfectly, without errors and with music and sound effects. All my old games run fine with it. Having all your party -

Also Ultima VII: Serpent Isle, but for me it was , not only for the drama of it, but also for the realisation that you're a long long way from finishing the game. Games are too short nowadays. -
I agree. Before Malachor V, she probably was good in the Jolee Bindo sense - always asking questions, challenging the assumptions of the Jedi masters, genuinely trying to open her students' minds to new ideas. But on Malachor she found the wrong answers, and stopped asking the right questions. After that, whether as a Sith Lord or exiled from both sides, she went on to make more and more evil choices.

The 'immortal stormtrooper' thing sounds boring. I guess you'd have to find a squad that was interested in role-playing it, or wait for a game that was more realistic.
-
You can do that in FPS games? Wow! I never knew that (because I never play FPS games). That actually sounds like fun. Is this only in multi-player mode or in single-player mode too? I could spend hours running around healing people and telling them off for getting injured! :D

Clone wars micro-series... Clone wars micro-series... Nope, not ringing any bells. Must have missed that one. :D

I prefer robes for Jedi characters, of course. Aside from the Force Power issues, Jedi just don't wear armour - it's a roleplaying thing perhaps. Besides, they're powerful enough already without being invulnerable as well.

Look At This!!!! Kotor III???
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Don't worry about it. If your friend is right, then sooner or later (probably sooner) there will be an official announcement about Kotor 3's development. Then you can come to these boards and laugh at all the doubters. :D -
Look At This!!!! Kotor III???
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The game can be worse than Kotor 2 and still be good. I'd like the developers to try to sort out some of the loose ends of Kotors 1 and 2. On the other hand, the more they feel the story belongs to them, the better the game will be; untangling other people's plotlines mustn't be a priority. When we find out who the developer is (should there be one) we can take a look at their QA record - and who knows, perhaps LucasArts will improve their own QA. I haven't played any of their recent games, but surely they can't all have been buggy nightmares? -
You can delete the topic if you like - there's an option to do this at the bottom of the screen.

SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If LucasArts decides it wants a Kotor 3, I doubt they'll have trouble finding a developer willing to make it. It will probably get made, and it will probably be good. -
Revan here, Revan there (Aug 31)
SteveThaiBinh replied to aimo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't know how old Aimo and Eisu are, but Malaysia is famous for aggressively pushing English language education in schools, particularly in recent years. I believe science and maths are now taught through the medium of English. It's part of the response to globalisation and membership of ASEAN. -

SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I imagine that as it sold well, Kotor 2 made LucasArts very happy indeed. This is a rather extraordinary thing to accuse any developer of, let alone a small new developer on its first game. No, the ending was far from perfect, but if LucasArts had wanted another Kotor 1 ending they wouldn't have gone to the creator of Planescape:Torment. Obsidian are good storytellers, but they're not the only good storytellers: - I doubt it's beyond another writing team to pick up the story and make it work in Kotor 3. -
TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
SteveThaiBinh replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There's been no news on the movie/music patch from LucasArts for a long time - it may be that the patch will just disappear without announcement (or it might be released tomorrow ). Are you considering reviving the music portion of your project? -
Great, so far these tests have told me I'm Carth, I'm Luke Skywalker, and now I'm Queen Amidala. It just keeps getting worse - I really need to stop doing them.

What R Yo Fav 3 Games Of All Times
SteveThaiBinh replied to The Illuminator's topic in Computer and Console
A series counts as one game. Why? Just because. -
It's very easy to make the comment 'rapists should be castrated' - more difficult to face all the consequences of it. And stop putting mantraps on the kitchen floor overnight, Meta, you'll only hurt yourself.
-
Would they be able to do it competently? Without risk of inflicting greater harm than the sentence called for?
-
Vets should be recruited to castrate rapists I suspect that doctors would refuse to do it.
