So are you going to buy Mass Effect PC ?
Meshugger replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
No, no, no, and no. Stop with the "har-har, you clearly have no basis for your argument, since i know a lot more than you do"-attitude. It is counterproductive if you want to have a serious discussion on the matter. I've seen Michael Bay movies such as The Island and Transformers and the CSI-series. What they have in common, the fast camerawork withstanding, is shallow and undeveloped characters. And if there are jokes, they are usually really bad and stoic. This is clearly evident in facial closeups where they are usually void of any emotion, just like in Mass Effect, being super-serious for the sake of being serious. I understand that some people like this of a more serious tone in direction, but i certainly don't. I don't recall complaining about the color and art, which is actually ok and even good at times. -
Meh, i'll wait this time. It seems like they managed to actually make the camera worse, quite an astonishment.

Wait, you could play NWN2? Mine crashed to desktop saying my graphics card doesn't have enough features. Haha. Yeah, damn those Zionist lizards! But seriously, where would you rank JE, Mes? And what RPG is it most similar to? Below KotOR1 and 2, but higher than Mass Effect. -First, the setting: Bioware had the chance to create something new with Asian mythology. You know, a western RPG set in an Asian setting, which sounded really good on paper, but on execution it turned out to be something that Disney would do. - The Story: Well KotOR had Star Wars to it, so there wasn't much flexibility, put they pulled it through. JE was so simple, and easy to figure out that it wasn't even funny. After 4 hours of gameplay, i already knew who was the "real" main bad villain, which one who will betray me and who will do the self-sacrifice. The story makes even the most mundane Kung-Fu movie "deep". - Roleplaying: There are more possibilities compared to KotOR, but the problem lied in that i didn't even care at this point. Instead of the promised "different-shades-of-gray", we got the light/dark-side in an Asian environment. With Asian mythology having less focus on what's evil or not, we got the Disney treatment instead. Let's just play the good guy, so we get the ending with both the girls, the palace and living happy ever after in prosperity. - Gameplay, started of as fun and ended up being slow and tedious. Many combat-styles were redudant. - The Character, the saving grace of the game. This is the only reason on why i rank this above Mass Effect. The partymembers are funny and varied, and some even interesting. The have their own back-story that is actually rewarding, story-wise, to explore. Mass Effect is, as i already told before, CSI-random-Michael-Bay-in-space. The story is uninvolving (Humanity has saved the galaxy once again, GO HUMANS!), the characters are stoic and serious, and with the camera-work it really resembles "Beautiful people in a random Michael Bay movie". They refuse to talk to you, unless you're on your ship, the planets/missions is very unbalanced in favour of Citadel station, and the interface was more or less broken. Kudos though for making the light/dark-side less apparent. And the gameplay doesn't really work for me, Deus Ex and System Shock managed to blend stats and action fluently, but Mass Effect didn't. And finally, while the "main planets" had some idea of flora and fauna, the rest of the planets were really empty and void, making it boring and uninteresting for the player to even bother to travel there. I still managed to finish it though. -
Make love! Not war!

Revolting as it may sound, it is an everyday occurance in our lives, and even in puritanical america.

But what if the game requires to have full-frontal penetration in order to describe that the character's relationship is decadent and deprived, and not based on love and companionship? These things can't be written or described, they have to be shown. Or don't these matters on sexuality matter in North America/anywere?

Yeah, we've been toying around with IBM's Cell extensions to the gcc, called ppu-gcc (main data handler) and spu-gcc(the actual work), and looking into on how their implementation has been done. But i just implemented test cases of that stuff, it's up for the other Ph.D's to use that info to actually produce something new

Really? I keep hearing the opposite. Supposedly JE is fun romp but not up to standard. Yeah, but some people believe in lizards being a bloodline of our evil overlord masters, ranging from every single totalitarian in human history, so what can you do? -
Good point. But he does make the notion that games usually have as good writing as the consumers who buy them, thus the stigma of being immature themselves. And AO is a very big "No-no" in games in the US, since it usually means, compared to movies, that it contains explicit sex or direct pornography. And since a nipple-slip in can be considered as "AO" in games, well go figure. And as Xard said, the biggest supermarket chains refuses to sell AO-games, leaving the market self-censored. actually god of war refutes your nipple slip comment there mesh Touch

Listen to Pidesco, folks. He's from Southern Europe, they know the difference on sex and sexuality. This is much more fun argumenting than sitting around writing about how to de-assemble the JFIF encoder of the JPEG format into seperate components for parallel execution, wherever possible

I can't wait until i see what kind of "swift-boating" will be pulled against the democratic candidate this time. Maybe they will retaliate? That would be fun. I expect the candidates to spend 90% of their time debating on issues that doesn't directly affect the average american. Slogans and buzzwords will be held, guilt-by-association and nonsensical lambasting will be thrown left and right, and nothing really will change since all the main candidates are from the establishment. Simply Status Quo folks. America rolls on, business as usual. Oil will remain expensive, Obsidian will release more games, Bokishi will buy the best computer equipment and Guard Dog will have some puppies to take care of.

Thanks for the tip. This compiler is in-the-works. Expected release-date in 2010, if ever

/me salutes for Mr.Pollack... Anyhoo, The Big Lebowski is one of my favourite movies, highly recommended for someone who appreciates a comedy where the characters are humorous by their traits and actions, not by telling jokes. And about the Tempe of Doom. It lacked an adventure, you know, like searching for a treasure around the world, finding clues and such. The main villain was some backwater tribe using voodoo and child-labor to find their precious rock, mildly interesting. Not only that, the treasure-part was really downplayed, with Indy out saving the children more in the foreground (i hated that little kid, and i was a kid when i saw it!). Nice scene at the bridge at the end though. Last Crusade had Indy traveling across the globe searching for the Holy Grail of all of things. He had to look for clues, hunting down old templar burial tomes and so on. And there was some backstabbing from the love-interest, and of course there was the nazis, the arch-main villain used perfectly as they were one of the most dangerous regimes ever lived. Also, Sean Connary played his dad excellently. I will not even comment on Indy 4 much, since the main points have already been discussed. Needless to say here's the verdict: Raiders>>Last Crusade>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Temple of Doom = Indy 4

115 pages in less than a month, quite impressive indeed I am currently writing my Master's Thesis, which is mostly a case study of compiler development for multi-core processors. It pretty much consists of traversing through a network of kernels, pipelining, parallelization, and threading. I am 4 weeks into writing and i just reached a mere 54 pages. Also, writing it with LateX might be good in general, but trying to write down discrete cosine transforms and explanation took an eternity

Congratulations! You're now fully entitled to wear silly clothes

You can run the Fallout 2 high-resolution widescreen mod with it without any hickups, at least But holy hell, that is some serious overkill you got there.

Good choice. I have a 8800 GT 512MB RAM as well, highly recommended.

Huh? I've personally found that many game voice actors are extremely skilled. Sure you haven't just been playing awfull games? I'm buying it a few days after it hits. Like Xard said, I was actually talking about dubs, not original work. In that case the entire idea of localization is only fit for people who won't realize that their languages are clinically dead. Subtitles are for children and womenfolk. I too can be mightily elitist about this. Try harder, that didn't even make sense in the context of the original post. On topic, where's "Bargain bin at 9,95 -
I always wanted to join one of those 13 families. I mean, if they're so powerful, why even bother? But i am having trouble finding them, i haven't found them in the yellowpages, nor do they have a website where i can file my open application. Again, you can't rule the world because of your heritage, so they must welcome their new members somehow, maybe they have some summer trainee programs, or at least something. Maybe i should get one of those VIP-cards for the Bilderberg meetings, they seem to be very secretive enough(=evil overlords). I would definately fit right in, i would just say "You guys RULE!", which they literally do, and do the international devilsign symbol, since everyone knows they worship BAHOMETH, the devil himself. Speaking of which, does that mean that all the metal-heads out there are members as well? They do the devilsign, and i can tell you, they do it A LOT. But they don't seem to respond to my requests, am i doing it wrong somehow? Maybe i too rude, maybe i should give them some gifts, right? Some marmalade in some nice wrappings, everyone likes that, right? I am really getting confused here, help me out here, will ya? Please?

+1, and add Armenia as well. I'll add more about my opinions later.
