Since Finland always manage to fail to qualify for any major football event, i've grown accustomed to put my support on other countries. You did!? Well yeah... Doesn't the US constitution guarantee his right to free speech? Or is abortion an exception? Most schools enforce this under the same banner as in, it is forbidden to yell "fire" as a joke. It is usually up to the school to define themselves on what "disruptive of the common order" exactly is. Some schools can be really bad on this front. In my high-school however, that kind of a t-shirt would've been seen and shrugged at, since there is no debate on abortion. We were pretty much allowed to wear whatever we wanted as long there wasn't too much nudity or text that was directly against the law. Cloths which displayed overly racist or anti-[insert religion here] texts or images were officially forbidden, but never really enforced, since the school focused most of its resources on anti-mobbing and such. Oh, and i live in Europe.

Currently, the European parliament is by elected officials from each member state, there is also the European Counsil, who consists of the prime ministers or presidents of each member country (they are ofcourse elected as well), and the European Counsil, which is appointed by the European Parliament, which makes it even more washy. The European Counsil suggested the treaty, which the parliament also agreed on. A real shame for the voters indeed. The beaurocracy is already horrendous with the current system.

In order to get some non-europeans to the matter. It is basically the same as the old European constitution, but it was thrown into the dust bin after both France and Holland vote "No" in their respective referendums. This is one is the very same document, sign as a treaty by the prime ministers, which creates a new constitution. Talk about throwing the will of the people down the drain. Come on you people on the emerald isle! Say no to centralization, say no to more power to the politicians in brussels. Say yes to your own political power!

Official Page. I am severly against myself, it puts more power to the EU itself on the expense of the member states. As we all know, more centralisation means more beaurocracy and less democracy and efficiency. Hopefully the Irish will vote with a big "NO".

Just deal with the matter rationally and let the student wear the damn shirt. Make sure that the person wearing the shirt is still dealt with a mature manner, meaning acknowledge the opinion of the student and continue with the lecture and make sure that an eventual discussion is dealt in a decent manner. Students should be raized to question the world and seek knowledge, and accepting different opinions as consequence of that. I am an idealist.

Wise words. We're living in an era of cynicism right now, it oft seems. Not in Australia, really. We've had about 15 years of prosperity and success. It will be interesting to see how we fare the next 5 years; what goes up must come down... or at least stabilise to equilibrium (more likely scenario). But yeah, it certainly seems Europe has an era of cynics, from my perspective as an observer. I'm concerned about how Europe will handle it's drastic population ageing and population implosion issues. Agreed. I am currently very, very furious over the Lissabon agreement. This has made me a cynic, there is no or little debate in the mainland Europe about the whole thing, and i find it very appaling that our own government has said that "all finns agreed with that since we vote 'yes' on the referendum to join the EU". More referendums, less central control. No one in their clearest mind think that giving the people less to say on such matters as such of a new European constitution is something of "The will of the people". ESAD to everyone in the european parliament who agrees with no referendum on the Lissabon agreement, ESAD. /head explodes
