The TV and Streaming Thread: That's Entertainment!

"What's in the Box" (Netflix, game show) - I saw Neil Patrick Harris' face and clicked. Silly game show with too much contestant drama and prizes of the new car, trip, expensive luggage variety. Oh yeah, and one year of free DoorDash orders. >.> Even Neil as host couldn't save it/make it watchable. I did skip to the last episode/end to find out the ultimate giant "surprise box" end-prize, so you don't have to: -

I find it interesting that Bloodlines 2 has not gotten a heavy discount. The reception seemed worse than the Midnight Suns debacle, and that got hit with heavy discounts sooner. But the heaviest on that came after the holiday season, so it may still happen if it seriously underperforms with the -20%. I am watching just with academic interest at this point.

I had VAL and Niles in my party when I completed VOX station, once I TP'd to the landing pad after talking to the Order Messenger Inez came outside angry as expected, I had the required speech and knowledge check to convince her not to leave my service however as soon as the text conversation ended she restarted the conversation again this time with it now telling me I no longer had the required info to keep her on the skill check as I had just used it before. I tried to reload and restart a few different ways and still wasn't able to prevent her for initiating the same dialogue twice. I wasn't super bothered as I didn't plan on using her this playthrough anyway but was mildly annoyed by it. System as an RTX 4060TI paired with an Intel Ultra 7 Processor

Once they work out the barrel wear kinks, I think railguns could make an effective AA platform. Im not so sure about the direct ship to ship utility though. As seen in this video, the railgun ammunition punches really impressive holes directly through the test ship, but unless you hit a sweet spot, its just a really small hole in a really big warship, seemingly. I believe the passenger was ejected from the car, but yeah, a firey death would be a bad way to go.

Enshrouded: Ok, I've been cursed with something called Hemotoxin for hours (RT) that never wears off. Drains health and blocks mana regen. There was no apparent way to get rid of it once I realized it wasn't going away. So I just dealt with it, because EZ settings made it a little annoying but not major. Then I got around to getting more NPC's into my base and one could craft a remedy, but it requires a resource found in another slightly higher level biome of which I had zero notion of where to travel to get there. I finally googled it. What poor design for a new player (allowing that curse to take place so early, in "starter biome", before one may have found/gotten that NPC or multiple biomes). Made my way there, just got into it, then died exploring a POI, and game put me half way across my known map because the only "load if you die" becaon I'd seen/encountered was ages ago in a different POI. I have two tower-FT locations found, neither anywhere near where I was. You can use base-altars as FT (place, delete later) but it's a hinky travel workaround with limits. On one hand, rationally it really isn't that bad. On the other hand, between that and all the curse stuff, I semi-rage quit. Also, not liking the storage options or crafting station/options stuff too much (No Man's Sky is better on both fronts imo). And the combat is still terrible. I'd guess once I have everything unlocked I'd enjoy it more in the sandbox fashion but getting there - maybe later. I get why it's popular, mind. Just a little too MMO or whatever for me perhaps. Time to try 7 Days 2.5.

I specced the Targeting Scanner science perk and tested it out. It says "causes the party's attack against [marked enemy] to regenerate your energy." I didn't notice any effect on my energy when I attacked a marked enemy. Is the energy boost supposed to apply only to attacks of companions and not the player? Is it bugged? Or is the energy regeneration so slow that I didn't notice it?

Lead Researcher Hurley gets killed a few seconds after she runs into the hangar to argue with Vaillancourt. She dies even if I don't go in the room with her. I am undetected, and she still dies. I can stay far behind or close to her and the same thing still happens. Youtube videos show that she argues with Vaillancourt, but in my 1.0.6.0 game she gets shot at by the automech as soon as she stops running. Can someone else test it in the latest patch? Does she start talking to Vaillancourt or does she immediately die?

Yes (not in the build list though). You pick Berserker/Troubadour (or Beckoner) with maxed INT (to counter confusion's -5 INT and still hgave decen friendly-fire Carnage AoE size). You use Amra with Riven Gore (procs on crit, same size as Carnage). This raises the chance to "accidentially" kill your skeletons significantly. Blood Storm (Frenzy will last forever basically), Bloodlust, Blood Thirst, Bloody Slaughter. Ancient Brittle Bones first and then Many Lives Pass By for skeletons. Use a pet that heals on kill to completely counter Frenzy's self damage. Battle Axe modal always on because the recovery malus doesn't matter with Blood Thirst. That's basically it. Alternatively you can also use a reach weapon to better place the Carnage on certain enemies in order to hit more skeletons. You can do this without Berserker's confusion: use Whahai Poraga. It has friendly fire without confusion. You can combine Corpse Eater with Beckober or Skald for example: secondary summons like Ancient Brittle Bones' second wave skeletons, second wave drakes and also Many Lives Pass By will leave corpses when they die. You can use White Worms on the skeletons corpses and eat drake the drake corpses. The Berserker variat is significantly more brutal though. If you have a Chanter in the party already then it's better to use a Brute though: Blood Thirst in combination with Cleaving Stance is even more brutal when you accidantially kill your Chanter's skeletons: each kill will proc Blood Thirst but also a Cleave which usually kills the next skeleton and so on. In any case you do NOT want to have low health party members near such a guy who is wielding Amra in confusion. Riven Gore will destroy them instantly when they are below 50 health, removing them from the party without further ado.

Turn Based mode beta bugs and feedback
Reinne replied to Reinne's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Some more bugs/issues: -During the battle of yenwood field gathbins army attacks itself. -war dog enemies spam their growl sound all the time. -when summoning concelhault the summon is not involved in combat and just stands around, afterward it appears when transitioning areas at the start of the area. -not related to turn based but during the wm2 ending it is spoiled: When it is completed before the end of act 2. -sometimes characters get stuck on their turn and can’t do anything not even skip their turn forcing you to restart. -some of the abilities you get during the wm2 finale don’t really make their ‘timing’ clear in turn based mode. -

What a a horrific crash. One can hope he died instantly, but considering that the passenger died in the hospital, it's less likely.

Well, Enshrouded for me seems to be one of those games where you're never quite sure how much you truly like the game, but every day you sit down and keep playing it. It's neither rpg systems enough, nor free-sandboxy enough to fully enjoy it in either fashion. Pros: ---Exploration really is the best aspect far as I'm concerned. Although like any larger open world type map, there are empty areas, mostly around map edges. Still, points of interest at least aren't super spread out, so density is decent. And one time I dropped down a barren ledge (ledge hopping to get down a cliff), saw a gravestone in the middle of nowhere. Wondered if I could break it with my pickaxe. I could - and there was a loot chest revealed. ---in the first area/biome, dungeons have been small but kinda fun. Nothing difficult but the climbing, jumping, traps occasionally make it feel like brief, simplified tombraider-ing. Kinda. The design/similarities might get repetitive tho. ---loot/chests enemies, areas etc seem to respawn, but takes an hour or two of real time spent in game (exiting game doesn't work with chests tho/patched out, I hear). So far areas don't seem level-scaled. eg, respawns feels like a cross between MMO and ARPG's but a slower pace perhaps. ---Since it's voxel, if I can't jump high enough, I can just pickaxe myself a few dips into a rockface and go up, if I want. Stuff like that. ---the Glider feature is nice. I keep forgetting I can use it to, say, shortcut-leap down a chasm, but it's a great traversal feature. Cons: ---Why do I have to literally kiss a tree or flower to chop it down/pick it up? Or nearly stand on top of dropped loot to pick it up? Does my character have three inch long arms? ---a strange sense of minor latency (even Offline) between actions and it actually applying or game doing its notification things, or sometimes re: comabt actions, like switching weapons. ---am still not fond of the progression systems (crafting, upgrading), which I've mentioned already. It's nice in theory/I'm sure it clicks with many, but I constantly feel like I'm going to waste my time doing anything until I have everything discovered/unlocked that might make early thoughts/work obsolete. ---combat is terrible. I don't mean difficulty, I mean auto-targeting is terrible, especially with the wands/staves. No way to turn it off completely that I can find and it means if I want to target something behind an enemy, I can't. Apparently this seems to be a common complaint. I tried melee and my chr. scoots forward 2 feet with every swing animation, which I hate. Luckily with the easy settings you can mostly just ignore how bad it is. Still, it's terrible.

I spent $60 on a pair (smaller, larger) of "titanium" food cutting boards, because they were on "sale" (Amazon). And popular. They're metal on one side, some solid "wheat grass" material on the other. Probably a fool parting with their money, but I've been meaning to get something besides the plastics I've always bought/used for years - because these days every time I use a plastic one, I'm thinking about how I'm probably scraping plastic bits into my food. Probably too late for me in that regard, my generation tended to love plastic/non-stick everything haha, but eh. Maybe at least non-plastic ones will make the daily thought go away. Or I'll start wondering if I'm scraping metal into my food. And no, I don't like wood cutting boards.

Given the current Epstein news perhaps the weird parallels to the Pinochet regime and Colonia Dignidad are a sign from up high:
