The All Things Political Topic - What's Going On...?
ShadySands replied to Lexx's topic in Way Off-Topic
This. You never know if he's just going to back out of any deal because he needs a "win" at the moment. While they are basically forced to do business with him now you can be assured that a lot of countries will try to pivot away from reliance on the US in the future which only weakens us. -

UK threatening to recognize Palestine is funny, they'll retract it once Israel drops a couple more pallets saying they see positive intent. -

lucass_silvas started following Upscaling support

This game needs upscaling ASAP. It's actually insane that you guys decided to release a UE5 game, even on early access, without any upscaling or even graphical settings. At 4K (obviously native), I'm getting 30-40 FPS at Epic, and 40-50 FPS at High settings on an RTX 5080. This is completely unacceptable.

Grounded 2 keeps crashing on Xbox and it is happening on the menu screen. I don't have much more info except that it mainly happens when I open the Xbox guide.

I can't edit my post, so here's an amendment to it : I'm playing with my kid, she's playing with my old gaming laptop. She seems to have no issue playing with low settings, the laptop doesn't shut down. It's a 2014 laptop. My PC is much, much more recent than my laptop and yet it completely shuts down a few minutes into the game. I'm confused.

The TV and Streaming Thread: That's Entertainment!

Oh, yeah, I heard those slapping sounds, lol. tbh, I kinda like the whole thing behind the not-zombie zombies. Stuff like the Walking Dead stopped making sense years ago unless we are really just dealing with magic by now. -

It's a coming of age drama with not-zombie zombies, imo. -
The title speaks for itself, the steam version of grounded 2 says I need to connect to a Xbox network account but I can see my account is connected in the background. I don't like having my games all over the place but I think I have to return grounded 2 on steam in order to buy it on the Microsoft store which blows!

I was playing and everything was fine, no crazy FPS fluctuation, haven't got out the first lab and was about to pass the point when the tutorial tells you how to crouch when my PC completely shut down. Now, obviously, my PC ain't worth 10k, but let me assure you it can easily play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 without any stutter, Grounded 1 at max settings as well, Spider-Man Remastered, Xcom 2 with 800 mods, and so on. I'm just making this disclaimer so to not prematurely jump to conclusion that it is a PC problem and not an optimization one. Hope this report is of some use.

Hello, I have restarted Grounded 2 on my Xbox Series X four times so far today. During two of these sessions, the "Grounded 2 Game Pass" launch screen seemed to be burned into my gameplay and cutscenes, almost like a watermark or an overlay at roughly 30% opacity. Restarting the game fixed the issue, but then the issue occurred again after another restart. I wanted to flag this issue immediately. Below is an unedited recording of the glitch.

Just watched 28 Years Later. It kinda was not what I expected. Not a bad movie, though. -
The All Things Political Topic - What's Going On...?

The way I read it, this is a "framework" for a trade deal. The details have yet to be worked out, and those may balance the equation depending on the particular classes of goods. I suspect Germany supports it because of their energy needs (per Russia embargoes); France, naturally, does not. The revenue differences may instead be balanced out with digital taxes, &c. Then again, DJT is known for his negotiating flakiness, so who knows how long it will last? -

The union as in the EU itself? The EU as a whole has definite advantages for weaker members- developmental funding, large free trade bloc and the like- which make staying in it a positive trade off. Or, perhaps, a trade off that is seen as significantly safer/ less risky than the alternative. A proper single economy would have advantages for them too, similar to how somewhere like Alabama in the US is subsidised federally by California's stronger economy; it's the weird hybrid thing that doesn't really work well. The union as in the monetary union? Arguably, Greece would have been far better off leaving the Euro during its crisis. Instead of having its currency tied to Germany's and effectively having money pumped out they could have set their own exchange rates to improve competitiveness and inflated their debt away at the same time. With a floating independent currency and a weak economy you have a weak currency, and competitiveness improves since you'd get more drachma for the olive oil you sell to Germans and they'd get better value for their holidays so would be more likely to visit. But with a weak economy and a strong currency Middle Eastern or North African olive oil is cheaper, and it's cheaper to holiday in Turkey. It's extremely risky to leave though, and there would be a lot of the more, hmm, strident Europhiles who'd want anyone leaving the Euro out of the EU as well. That's a particular risk for a single, relatively small country like Greece though, not so much if it was the whole PIGS+ since Italy and Spain are too big to kick out. It's certainly a bad thing if your economy is weak though. Ultimately the problem is the same as it's been since its inception: the Euro is weaker than it 'should' be for its strong economies, which improves their competitiveness and stronger than it should be for the weaker ones, decreasing their competitiveness. That's a classic viscous* circle for the weak and not really a virtuous one for the strong since the benefit for them lasts only until the time the weaker ones start pulling them down. *sigh. I knew one of these days I'd actually write it -

Finished Wind and Truth or what the Stormlight Archive book is called. It is the worst book in the series. Not Sanderson's worst book in general, but it shows that he no longer has editors who'll tell him the truth when the truth hurts. The time jumps are so annoying, the book is 1400 pages with no flow, because every 70 pages the book jumps back 9, 17, 4000 or even 10000 years. Sanderson's insistence to ruin every single female character by making them split personalities instead of giving them character growth, has made Shallan's character unsalvageable, try as he may. At least the first arc is over and it seriously reduces the "need" to keep up with the series. Started The King of the Spoil. It is a Warhammer 40K attempt at cyberpunk. The setting feels a bit off for the type of story. -
Youtube recommendations, let's beat the algorithm

I figure I should add my Youtube mainstays. I tend to find most youtubers to be hard to watch, but I have a couple fitness people that are solid. Yoga with Adriene is super calming. My wife and I often do routines in the early mornings when we are too tired to do a hard workout, but want to start the day off with some movements: Strength training is super important as you age, and I've been trying to incorporate more into my weekly regimen. I have some dumbbells and a bench, but I don't really know what I'm doing to work different muscle groups and not hurt myself. Tom Peto is the best I've seen on Youtube. Again, he's a calming guy. I don't need someone yelling at me when I'm working out in my garage. Lastly, the only person I watch on the couch is Pompsie.
