Random video game news... RNG is your friend!

Btw, I'm not ticked re: BL4's requirements vs. my personal hardware. I'm barely interested in the game, really. I'm just tired of all these games thinking they have to up the ante (usually this means graphix-tech) when there isn't really much reason to do so for the game/series. I mean sure, if a dev wants to make a super fancy showcase, they can do that/some games are meant for that. But I see no reason for BL4 to have that min. requirement (could've been a gtx 9xx min, say). I'm guessing that min. is because of RT that maybe you can't entirely turn off - I looked it up, BL4 will "feature ray tracing." Nvidia's BL4 "showcase" video is showing/claiming 200+ fps, meaning without DLSS4/frame generation it's likely many are going to have poor - or at least not the desired - performance, since, y'know, most people don't even have a 50xx. Edit: that said the showcase video is pure marketing bull, since they don't even tell you what gpu or original resolution they're using to get those frame-generation fps. -

At least items worth less than 100 Euro will still be sent so that means letters (who still sends letters???) That's a positive at least -

The TV and Streaming Thread: That's Entertainment!

Watched 1st episode of Butterfly, on Prime. I thought, for some reason, that it was going to be an action k-drama, but apparently US. I think it's kind of a spy/assassin group thriller or something. That 1st episode did nothing to make me want to watch a 2nd. It's not that it's terrible, but I felt tossed into action with zero chr. notions outside of "some man wants/thinks he has to rescue his daughter from an organization, who may not need/want to be rescued from said organization since she seems to enjoy her assassination job." eg, I had no reason to care either way. I suppose the 2nd episode might explain background/history but like I said, it didn't make me care enough to find out. Also, it's mostly in English but the way they dealt with Korean speaking moments was annoying. A couple lines in Korean w/subtitles, then suddenly a couple lines in English, then back to Korean. I guess that was so ppl who don't like subtitles don't have to read as many subtitles? It was lame. The action-y stuff was ok I guess. -

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/aug/25/postal-services-in-europe-suspend-parcel-shipments-to-us-amid-uncertainty-over-tariffs It seems that our wise rulers forgot something and now new rules or maybe better say lack or rules block all small trade from EU to USA -
I had always assumed that scent was part of how the red ant armor in Grounded 1 or the red ant Buggy in Grounded 2 worked so I like your idea of being able to make termites (and maybe some other insects) docile via scent. I don’t know that we should be able to make the scent item before we have completed the associated lab/dungeon/hill/mound. (I’m leaning more towards whatever we use for scent being more like a smoothie that wears off than like a trinket.) The red ant buggy makes several of the ant hills we explore very easy. I’d like other areas to at least be a challenge the first time through. I’m OK with them becoming easier when you’re going back through just to farm items.

Carnivorous plants
Alynxkia replied to Stickyglueshootingworm's topic in Grounded 2: Feedback & Suggestions
I like the idea of being able to plant them for defense… but I wanna go a Sims route and make them a tad sentient and problematic. If we remember to feed them they only attack aggressive insects. If we forget… they might chew on us a bit. Might munch on (but spit out) a passing buggy. -

Other than broodmothers everywhere I am on board with the suggestions. Now if you mean they have lairs they stay in for each area, fine. That matches Grounded 1 actually as the broodmother’s den was in an early level area. But free roaming… The current area we are playing in is supposed to be the beginning area. Free roaming Broodmothers are not beginner friendly. On anything but Whoa! Mode… that’s kind of mean to new/casual players. Maybe later in the story something can trigger broodmothers in the starting areas the way hornets were in Grounded 1. I have no objections to them being roaming in later areas. -

I think we all want the lizard boss in grounded it’s probably the mist requested creature in grounded and with park bosses like axl being really big the lizard would be really cool thanks for reading

After it was revealed that we are getting a community gardens area having carnivorous plants there would be really cool like venus flytraps having to maybe walk accros them and into their mouths trying not to trigger them or maybe getting a planting system and growing them yourself to defend your base for later raids having pitcher plants would also be cool you could carefully climb inside them and get dead bug parts or getting their scent to attract bugs or getting their acid in a cantina and making arrows from it or acid rounds for the turrets maybe it would be good for the axl weak spot and drosera plants that are sticky and catch bugs would be cool also being to attract their stickyness for arrows or rounds or maybe having to lure a boss in the gardens to them or bugs to get materials thanks for reading

Yes but we abandoned nukes before 1994 because we didnt need them as Apartheid and the Cold War was over That had nothing to do with NATO, it was an internal decision and we signed and agreed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1991 https://thebulletin.org/2021/11/fw-de-klerk-who-ended-south-african-apartheid-leaves-another-legacy-nuclear-disarmament/ https://www.icanw.org/south_africa "Former nuclear-weapon programme South Africa formerly possessed an arsenal of six nuclear weapons. It dismantled them prior to acceding to the Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1991, recognising that its security was best achieved through disarmament. In 1994, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that South Africa had dismantled one partially completed nuclear weapon and six completed weapons."

Yeah, no less than three companies sharing the 90%? That sounds like an actual market economy. Australia has been a duopoly for the powers that be knows how many years. The Coles/Woolworth cartel dictating prises (but customer and supplier prices)

Avowed was running great on my PC. Couldn't believe this was an Unreal Engine game since most other Unreal games run surprisingly bad for one reason or another. -
Im about 10 hours into Life in the Ruins mod collection for Fallout 4 and Im really enjoying it It creates a survival reality for FO4 but its balanced and so far not frustrating Lots of thinking went into what mods would make the game harder, lore friendly but still enjoyable The immediate changes I noticed was no Fast Travel, initially I was a little unhappy but now I appreciate it. You become lazy when you can fast travel between towns and I enjoy exploring and travelling Then ammunition is very scare and this means you need to scavenge everywhere, this is a great feature and reminds me of the constant resource shortages in games like STALKER It makes you become more strategic in combat and just increases the overall fun and reward with needing to explore. And Vendors so far have limited stocks of ammo But excellent mod collection so far, its makes FO4 much more hardcore and a fun survival game in this massive post-apocalyptic world I have also added a few new mods outside the Mod Collection like additional radio stations and its easy to see any issues with MO2 but so far so good

FenyxNebula started following Lost my Spicy Coaltana and Glitch with Omni-axe. Spicy Coaltana gone now
-
About 30 minutes ago there was a glitch on my screen while using my omni-axe. After using the axe it stayed my main tool and then my Spicy Coaltana was gone. I went to revert back to a prior save but all my saves from the last 5 hours are gone. That's a lot of progress to lose. I'm not sure what to do now. My omni-axe stayed my main weapon and kept swinging until I ran out of stamina. I switched my weapon to my mantis blade and tried to use the omni-axe again and the same thing happened. Now I have no mantis blade. That's easy to remake but my Spicy Coaltana is a huge bummer. Does anyone know about this? I'm playing on xbox series S.

Lost my Spicy Coaltana

This has happened to me just now. I went to revert back to a prior save but all my saves from the last 5 hours are gone. That's a lot of progress to lose. I'm not sure what to do now. I was kicked at 4 and then I got right back on and the rest of the saves are gone. There was a glitch with my omni-ax, where it stayed my main tool and then my SC was gone. It just happened again with my mantis blade. -
I’ve had that bug randomly appear. Most of the time exiting the game and coming back in fixed it. I did have that glitch remain stubborn one time despite reloading multiple times so I just started building a few sections over and suddenly I could delete the blueprints that have been acting like they were supports. The game definitely gets confused once in a while about which pieces are supporting what.

suggestions/ideas More bugs for Grounded 2
J Sis posted a topic in Grounded 2: Feedback & Suggestions
Hello, I would love some new bugs! and a new area, so here are some of my thoughts. 1. Broodmothers for every area (except the ice cream cart), And they could be Spiny Orb Weavers or Golden silk Orb Weavers. They could drop Spiny Weaver chunks, Weaver spine, Spiny weaver venom, Spiny weaver fangs, and a trinket called shimmering spine which each one will do a different thing. The Golden silk orb weavers could drop Golden weaver chunks, Golden weaver fangs, Golden weaver venom, and a trinket called golden weaver head, which will do different things for every one. 2. Stag Beetles - Angry bugs that could be found at the pine trees, the statue, the flower pot, and the fountain. 3. A Trap Door Spider - Named Trent, A boss found under the flower pot. 4. Centipedes - Neutral bugs found anywhere. 5. Earth Worms - Harmless bugs that will need a tier two omni-shovel to dig up could be found near the fountain. 6. A Seven Spotted Ladybug - A boss named lady liberty. Could be found at the top of the tree in the entrance area with mushrooms to climb up. 7. A tier 2 boss -It could be an orc Yellow jacket, found at the left pine tree with a secret door that leads inside the pine tree to stairs that lead up to the nest of the Yellow Jacket - Named Sargent Buzzerker. 8. A new area - The fountain. Please and Thank you, I hope you like these ideas!!! -

It's funny that Dark Ages is seen as a demanding game. Historically, much like any Doom since the reboot, it's an imposter. I mean, it's released on a Series S! Even my 3060 would still perform hugely better than Carmack era Dooms with much more recent hardware then. And the CPU requirements are low anyway. As for Avowed, this is basically one of the minimum spec GPUs release six years ago. Looks fairly decent. Grounded 2 still seems in a rough shape. But if TOW2's anything like Avowed, I'm personally not even wondering whether I could run Outer Worlds 2, despite running entry hardware released 2021 (Ryzen 5600 / RTX 3060). It may not be a stable 60 fps without upscaling. But then I didn't play TOW with more than 45-50fpsish either on my prior Ryzen 3 / 1050 Ti setup. As said, 30/40 are absolutely still a thing on "affordable" consoles at least on dedicated quality/balanced modes -- plus (dynamic) upscaling. On PC, your pocket's the limit, and Nvidia are pushing the demands for 1,000fps already. Frame Generation or not, that is a THOUSAND frames rendered in every single second. And each of those frames is still getting more complex. Let that sink in for a, well, second. 5,000 Dollars GeForce 6090 GTI Super Mega Hyper Ultra -- when are you gonna release it, Jensen? -

Is there any chance we could have foundations block bug spawns? Or perhaps some type of buildable land claim. I am constantly having to deal with ORC weevil and butterflies spawning in my base. Probably the most annoying thing about the first game was this problem. I want to be free to build a base in any location and not have to constantly repair everything in my base after killing bugs that have spawned inside. There are some awesome base locations that are being ruined by this problem.
