I can’t use my guns!
jordank replied to Khadijah's topic in The Outer Worlds 2: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I dunno how to edit or else I would. I kept swapping guns around in the menu and none of them worked. I tried a one-handed gun and that seemed to let me re-use guns. I'm not sure if that's the actual fix for it, but a single-handed gun seemingly worked for me if anyone else runs into this glitch. Have a nice day. -

sandwich guy trial, after two days of jury deliberation, still hasn't produced a verdict. ... somebody (multiple bodies?) on this jury does not want to punish the defendant. am gonna admit we had to look up fed criminal misdemeanor assault, 'cause that is literal something we never saw when we worked criminal. am suspecting the fact nobody has ever needed give jury instructions for misdemeanor assault is the reason why this ludicrous trial has stretched to five freaking days. the fed statute for criminal misdemeanor assault, pretty much has the same elements as common law civil battery: an act by the defendant intent to commit the act by the defendant-- not accidental contact a harmful or offensive touching lack o' consent by the plaintiff... of course since this is criminal, there is no plaintiff, so instead you got the victim. that's it, and same as civil (which means we are talking about money damages instead o' loss o' liberty for the defendant,) the standard o' review for the tryer of fact is a reasonable person standard insofar as what constitutes a harmful or offensive touching, although you need evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to convict. our "pretty much" is doing some heavy lifting and is what has caused confusion, 'cause as is typical, when yahoos write laws, they feel need to add... flair. every word matters. the final jury instructions read pretty much what we got above, but... regardless, am personal rooting for sandwich guy, but this isn't a tough call which needs multiple days o' deliberation... save that at least somebody on the jury most certain doesn't want to find this guy guilty. yeah, there were not even the possibility o' meaningful harm in the sandwich toss, and proving that sandwich guy intended to harm the cbp officer is beyond mere improbable, but is difficult to imagine the reasonable person who wouldn't see being pelted with a sandwich as punctuation to a verbal tirade as constituting an offensive act. however, we will note the court messed this whole thing up by providing less than clear jury instructions, which again, is surprisingly understandable seeing as how none o' the lawyers or the judge has needed to consider jury instructions for criminal misdemeanor assault previous to the start o' the sandwich guy trial. in any event, if somebody we trusted had told us that this would be, at minimum, a five day trial, we woulda' suggested they were chemical altered. HA! Good Fun! ps a reminder, a misdemeanor may include jail time up to one year. as such, from the defendant's pov, this is hardly the nothingburger people would reflexive assume it to be.

Some bug fix suggestions
Glad2BFree replied to Glad2BFree's topic in Grounded 2: Feedback & Suggestions
Replying to include a couple of other glitches I forgot to mention: - When gathering resources from clay deposits, hot dogs and apples, the pieces "explode" much farther away than reasonable. Suggesting to reduce the spread radius by a good 50% or so? - When using the Save feature (which effectively pauses the action), roughly half the time when backing out to the main "utility" menu the inside of the player character's eyeless face becomes visible, as if the camera were inside the character's face instead of just in front of it. Have only played as Pete so far, not sure if this happens with the other 3 kids... Thanks! -
Great work on Grounded 2 so far! Can't wait for the full release, and definitely looking forward to the winter update. Some observations for potential improvements/bug fixes: - Game has a high frequency of spontaneously crashing out to the XBox home page when viewing the "enemy details" page (ie where you can review a particular enemy's weaknesses/resistances) - Game has a lower tendency to crash out when viewing the Workbench construction menus, but still often enough to be a headache - Is it possible to prevent bug spawning from within a player's base? Or at minimum can you prevent bugs from spawning in the same place as a base object (such as a foundation or wall)? I built a base near the Pergola area and it unfortunately has to put up with the occasional bombardier beetle spawning within the floor - Buggies have an obnoxious tendency to wander directly into the player's field of view, making resource gathering or other such manipulations of the surroundings unnecessarily difficult. Maybe possible to make the area directly in front of the player a sort of "no-wander" zone? - Sometimes noticing the player/buggy glitching through the ground. Most noticeable in the Statue area when walking/riding over the paving stones - Sometimes noticing similar glitching through the ground/walls by enemy bugs. In some cases the bug is completely obscured by the ground but can still attack and deal damage to the player. - Sometimes noticing then when player drops grass planks or weed stems, they vanish from the world for several seconds only to all appear from thin air and drop to the ground moments later. Most frequently observed where there are already many planks/stems present nearby. Engine may be having trouble keeping up with all of those entities?

Give everyone a SSN and call it a day. Theres no reason the US has to limit immigration.

From a mile-high perspective, the fundamental problem is that illegal immigrants are deeply embedded in the US economy, and trying to extract that component is going to have negative consequences for everybody. It would be less impactful if they focused on avoiding new illegal immigration and extraditing the newest arrivals before they become entrenched. But either way the optics won't look pretty.

I was short on laborers until I reached over 500 pop. Until then I needed to switch between farmers and labor, non stop. Kids only come in to play in late game, when you get people dying of old age, until then immigration is key. There are some relics that can make soldiers almost obsolete, at least on anything below hardest. I didn't even build any walls.

Speculation: AI will gradually become a fourth branch of government. I could see it starting out in an advisory role, then the politicians steadily offload more and more responsibility to AI. Eventually it will become like the government in Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Jackalgirl replied to Jackalgirl's topic in The Outer Worlds 2: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
As a quick aside: I am a soft-hearted person, so understanding that with sufficient speech I can save a character's life means that I am psychologically stuck on Paradise Island at present. Without a way to give a temp boost to speech (either by gear, comestibles, or Companion), I'm struggling to try to make the XP to get to the next level, and Law I do not want to start over or back up. So, it would be really nice, if you have options that are literally life and death for a character, to make it possible for a player to achieve that outcome. -
Didn't know about the cap. Played this in EA as well, playing it now. Nice to unlock buildings with tech rather than the town center. Finally have surplus population, my previous games always left me with no labourers. Seems kids take ages to grow up as well, so maybe was lucky with immigrants. Salvage sites is new to me too, also good. Shame soldiers are expensive as heck though.

Bugs & personnal feedback regarding turn based beta
gwenriss replied to gwenriss's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
I'd like to add another bug I encountered: At Anslög's Compass after encountering Edrang and Tilly & exiting the conversation leading to them getting ambushed by xaurip the game doesn't start the turn-based battle, seemingly stuck in real-time with pause until both NPC died & the xaurip focused the party members. -

I would say that if you continue to have problems with this, put it all in a write-up using the Contact Us button at outerworlds2.obsidian.net/issue-tracker -- you could reference AR-126155 (which is the original issue tracking number). Make sure you're providing your platform, and the fact that although AR-126155 has been marked as fixed, you still can't do it (and detail all the things you've tried). You should get a confirmation via email that your message has been received. Putting all the info (and referencing the tracking number) in a single report will help the devs out. In fact, if there's anyone else in the thread who's still having this problem, I'd recommend this too. More data == better results. : )

Bugs & personnal feedback regarding turn based beta
gwenriss posted a question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
First thing first, thanks for the ammount of work put into all this. Bugs Npc tend to get stuck on other npc corpses(either allied or ennemies) leading to difficulty targeting them/issue moving character accross the battle During a battle and after getting downed Edér was brought back thanks to a "Second Wind" (sorry if it's not the right name I roughly translated from the french name of the ability) and by doing so was out of combat while the remaining hostile npc got stuck in a loop and pretty much soft-locked the game (forced to reload before the fight) A lot of text "X attack Y" can get spammed in the combat log Feedback The Initiative stats isn't clear about what affect it (I presumed Dexterity and action/attack speed would affect it but no idea in what kind of way). It would help to have the tutoriel/tooltips/entry in the encyclopedia more explicit about it. In the same way regarding turn orders/being able to get multiple turn during a single round, attack speed modifiers (such as the monk swift strikes, barbarian frenzy, Two Weapon Style) being shown as %increase end up odd/strange/vague to how it will affect things in turn based combat.
