"It seems Steam is threatening to remove visual novels with nudity from the platform for pornography thanks to the me too movement.

I wonder if the big league developers will face similar treatment as Indie devs."

TW3 and GTAV will get a pass. I do think there is a difference between a game that sells itself as a sex product and one that just depicts adult content in a sensibly contextualized manner. Some products their primary outward branding is a school girl in heat with the camera. Some people don't want that plastered all over and that's understandable.

Games that are primarily sex products are better tucked away in an opt-in adult section. Not sure why Steam doesn't just implement something like that.

A DLC is said to be planned for each and every one of the tribes present in the period, as well as several dozen "cosmetic" and music addons.

*shrug*

The grand strategy games Paradox sells are effectively board games (albeit extremely complex) - might as well keep up a similar monetization scheme.

As a MTG (aka "cardboard crack") player, I'm not fundamentally opposed to the concept of ongoing monetization and expansions. It's mostly just the low effort, piecemeal, crap value DLC approach that I was deriding with that completely made-up remark.

That's what I said when I said "board game [snip] monetization scheme" :-P

Will get it and wait to get gouged on DLC on sales

A very fleshed out world, with functional strip clubs which is a small part of the total game.

You're confusing GTA's accentuate caricature of America with it's grounded context.

Sure. The context being some meth head cranking it up to 11 and that somehow makes it "sensible". Because it's a "deep" critique of the drug and underworld culture of 'merica or something and not just over the top crazy silly fun.

etc

Totes contextualized now. Being one of the biggest (if not the biggest) publishers around has nothing to do with it. Tbh I was just going for an easy zinger, low hanging fruit and all that. I still find it amusing that people manage to glean deep meaning from wherever.

I haven't exactly been keeping up on the latest developments in anime pr0n games, is the sex the centerpiece of the games or just plain fan service? Are the mechanics (if any) designed around the dirty deed? Is it actual pr0n or mostly just ecchi? Honest questions, asking for a friend and all that.

It's like you are trying to be dense. Adult content placed in a stripper den in the middle of the red light section of a city modeled off of a real city, where vast amounts of the npcs are depicted as everyday goers is somehow not a sensible context for adult content? When it's fleshing out a reflection of the real world?

That context is leagues apart from an abstract puzzle game that has dubiously aged anime girls succumbing to a hormonal fit of heat that melts their minds into subservience towards the player, then going on to use such window dressing as you're primary branding to sell what is ultimately a puzzle game.

People should have a way of avoiding having such content marketed towards them, whether opt-in or opt-out.

I'm not touching this discussion with a barge pole. Or a stripper pole. I'll just be over here playing Saints Row 3.

Hot damn, and Avalanche is behind it too. The tone of the teaser makes a lot more sense now.

Yup, seeing how I loved Rage from Id and Mad Max game from Avalanche, this is a 100 for me :)

Not gonna lie, Rage 2 looks like Fallout that Bethesda always wanted to be

That was basically my exact thought with Avalanche's Mad Max game. Two different types but Fallout has more or less lost it's identity since after Fallout 2, Mad Max and Rage are very focused.

Not saying it's a bad thing, just saying that it doesn't look like Rage to me... at all. :>

It's as different from the first game as Deadfire is from the first Pillars, the tone is completely different but it's a welcome change :)

Does remind me of Borderlands, but must just be the way the trailer's presented more than anything else.

To me, the first thing I thought was Watch Dogs 2 marketing, this instinct was because of the neo-pastel colors - pinks, lots of pinks, hipster vibe, spraypaint style.

My guess is Rage 2 will release sooner than everyone thinks. The official box art has been revealed and the pre-order is already up on the main site. My gut says a bit after E3 just like Bethesda did with The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

You are making a completely irrelevant point. Sex in context = fine. Gratuitous sex = OMG unacceptable! This is a ridiculous distinction—sex is sex—especially considering that the "context" in question is the antics of a psychopathic drug addict and it's placed there for obvious shock value. Because Trevor's life is a totally sensible reflection of real world people and events.

But yeah, I get your meaning. GTA is art for connoisseurs who can appreciate its exquisitely deep nuanced satire of something or other, hentai puzzle games are for losers. Ok guy.

And by the way, I've never had a single example of such a game pop in my Steam feed. I'm guessing you'd have to go looking for them specifically, much like you used to have to walk into the "adult" area in video rental shops. Opt-outs are fine, of course. I want one for shovelware, though. That **** triggers me like like nobody's business.

Looks like after protests from developers Valve backtracked for now. Interesting thing is, that this has hit only Visual Novels, and not other lower budget “sugestive” games, like House Party, which bring even more controversy to this move by Valve... Edited by Mamoulian War
