Why do people play divinity: original sin?

Featured Replies

I tried to get into it a few times, i forced myself to like it. But in the end i found D:OS repellent in almost every aspect. the combat is tedious, the graphics hurt the eyesight, the story - a cliche.

So, what makes u play it?

I see the dreams so marvelously sad

The creeks of land so solid and encrusted

Where wave and tide against the shore is busted

While chanting by the moonlit twilight's bed

Mostly the fact that it lets me douse people in oil then set them on fire.

Well ,do you know of any other game that lets you control two hot redheaded girls as your protagonists?

Oh, right, it also allows me some semblance of respectability while arguing with myself.

I played it for the multiplayer, the combat IMO is super fun with a good friend that also likes the same genre.

You started a thread about a game just because you couldn't get into it?

Because it was fun?
Because it actually had fun Turn-Based combat?

Because mixing stuff in combat was awesome?

Because Larian is good at making funny quirky games?

Because it was literally the best RPG in over 5 years?

^

I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. At least top 5.

I don't understand why people like escargot.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Okay, what do I win?

A copy of Divinity: Pillars of Original Eternity.

1. Yes

2. More so yes.

3. Questionable to deny.

4. But funny means funny.

5. Call any one game in 5 years before it which is better. Not that simple, is it?

I adore Larian's tongue in cheek humor, they dont take themselves too seriously and that is a pleasant change in the genre.

Yeah... can you give some tips on how to accomplish this in general. Asking for a friend.

Don't really regard that as RPG.

As I do D:OS.

It's not very funny and the story sucks. But it sure had better environmental interaction, in combat or out of combat, than most RPGs - something sorely missed after Ultima 7.

Your'e opinion basically.  I thought the game was very funny in a lot of place, and I thought the game's story was a breath of fresh air compared to all the edgy and depressing super serious RPGs we've been getting lately.

I've only played a few hours so far due to lack of time for a game at the moment, but so far it looks better than almost everything else I've played single player RPG wise in the last 10+ years.

That said. OP, you suck, as does anyone else that ever start a thread in such a manner. The Obs forum community lets immature loser trolls start and control conversations all too often...

The story was good ,the music was Great and the game play was fun and challenging.

At last ,an RPG that doesn't take place in some dark medieval settings but in some beautiful locations and  it doesn't take itself so seriously .

(And you could could create two hotties as protagonists)

That was my thought too... the rather non constructive opening post makes me doubt this leads to useful discussions. Lets see if we can keep it civil?

everyone has his own tastes. there are some things that many, or even almost all, will like but some will still dislike

i heard people praise temple of elemental evil as the best port of DnD on a pc game... i could never play the game more than a few hours before i got bored with it

everyone says that fallout 1 and 2 were some of the greatest games of all time and i agree... however my brother cant stand to play them for even an hour

or to make a real life example, i see guys with some really ugly girls. why would anyone date her is something i cant imagine since i'd rather stay forever alone than date that thing, but the fact remains that he does. even if i get to know why he likes her, i still would never consider hooking up with her or someone that looks like her

or to put it in physics terms, no matter how hard a 4D person tries to explain to you what a 4D object looks like, since you can only perceive 3 dimentions you can never even imagine the shape

so knowing why people like DOS will not make you like it, it will simply make you question their sanity for liking it, just as they question yours for not liking it

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.
