Absolutely fantastic game.

I've been slowly doing side-quests and main story quests side by side and seen the map get more and more "finished" and figured it would be empty in no-time, like most open world games become. But to my surprise the game world seems semi-dynamic as new quests popped up in areas I thought I had cleared already. I love that!

I'm still only level 13 and I'm still in Velen and I still haven't even visited more than one city on that map and I've clocked something like 40 hours already! Seriously, this game is awesome.

Oh and regarding the complaints in this thread: Jesus ****ing Christ, you guys are ****ing morons. Your inventory is full? Sell ****. Problem solved. Your horse expands your inventory space illogically? Don't use it. Problem solved. Seriously, reading your complaints is like reading those entitled kids on Twitter complaining they weren't given a car for their birthday. One guy complains it's a trekking simulator (too much space, despite there being fast travel), while another complains there are enemies 10 meters outside of villages (which apart from being a complete lie also insinuates the game is too cramped). Also, every single item I've dropped on the ground since the beginning of the game is still where I left it. My game is completely cluttered, but I guess you guys got the special versions that forgets your stuff so you can complain about that too.

Yeah I have to say some of the complaints do seem rather petulant and unreasonable..its like you guys have become lazy?

i have a complaint: the last patch reset my controls... worst game evah!!!!!!111!111111!!!!11 :brows:

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

I'm at the island with the scottish vikings. Like the environment but the story seems a bit contrived. Did they have to throw every viking trope in there. There's Celtic compilation meditation music, waiting for a guard to mention something about an arrow in the knee.

Also, every single item I've dropped on the ground since the beginning of the game is still where I left it.

I am not sure if there is some kind option that makes items stay, but at least currently every time I load game the game items in ground disappear, those in corpses and those that I have dropped. Although it don't matter for me as I have more money than I need (bit over 20k crowns and crafting materials to do any item in my crafting list, in such degree that I could produce higher level items and sell them on profit if I would want to do so). I am currently on level 16 and I would guess that this things get even worse when I reach level 30.

Never had more than 2k crowns. I should find the bank and cash in on the non tradable coins.

When you do that first time in Novigrad after plundering Velen your cash reserve will probably rise about 3000-6000 crowns. But Most my money has come from selling alchemy and crafting ingredients, as I had in some cases over hundred pieces of rare ingredients that you need 1-10 in all the crafting you do and merchants will give you 10-20 crowns for piece. And I have started to find epic weapons that are just worse than my current one and blacksmiths will give for them 300-700 per piece. Before is reached Novigrad most cash I had was 3000 crowns.

Well, what can I say. Doesn't matter where I move, on every road I find enemies. It's not a lie, it's exactly my experience so far. So far there was not a single road from one location to the next where I didn't found hounds, wolves, nekkers or similar, even if they are but a tiny bit off the road. Really, the game world is full with monsters. Yes I can ignore most of them, still they are everywhere.

I do have one valid complaint. The inventory is terrible, well actually it's fine, but not for using in combat which is what you wind up doing because of the limited usefulness of the quick bar. If you don't throw out books you have picked up it's going to make it that much harder to pick out the potion which could save your life. Granted this is probably more of an issue on the higher dificult settings, but I would like to have access to everything I need and not just an arbitrary selection.

The game doesn't limit you selecting from your inventory in combat it just makes it prohibitively annoying to do so. So, yeah on the list for requested mods that's up there.

I think most of the criticisms raised so far have been valid and reasonable, however travelling north of the Pontar I have noticed that the lands are mainly settled and monster free, so logically I think that the greater density of dangerous encounters in Velen is intentional to reflect its place as a no mans land.

Edit: Good Lord have you seen Geralt's face when he suffers high toxicty, it's rather disturbing like in the fifty two and a half trailer and the original games intro, black veins and chalk white flesh. Rather offputting.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Yeah, it's pretty creepy. Although right now my Geralt's max Toxicity is so high that drinking a decoction merely makes his veins turn a little dark.

By the way, the Northern Wind terrain effect is really nice

I never met Letho apparently because I didn't import my final *autosave* but my final manual save just before the encounter with Letho.

Entering Novigrad at last, so far i'm obviously impressed, it's no Vizima but then again what is?

Figures that two days after I give up on getting a locally sourced CE and order one from the UK, they come back in stock here. But no matter, got the Xbone version with the extra bling (cloth map and Gwent decks) which is still out of stock, happy enough to pay the small price difference, despite neither owning or ever planning to own an Xbone. I might be a gullible fool now, but happy to support I guess. Plus I can give away the actual game if I ever find someone who owns an Xbone.

Just found the Cat Witcher school equipment, and the quest to acquire it is very interesting, not too much use of the idiot vision as it requires actual exploration and a methodical amount of exploration to find. My enhanced Griffin school swords are better but i've sold them on as i'm specialising in the Cat style for this playthrough. Realised that i've amassed twenty five thousand Orens as well, my autistic looting may need to be toned down a touch.

Pro tip: The Nilfgaardian Gwent deck is probably the strongest you'll find, and experience in it may be needed when challenging the practised players of Novigrad.

Note to self: loot all seashells you can get because they can always be salvaged into pearls, which are extremely valuable

Other decks are also very powerful especially if you use alternative leaders for them. For example Northern Realms have much better spy's than Nilfgaardian deck and their alternative leader version that gives you free horn for siege units is excellent as is their ability to get additional card every time you win a round. I won all the Gwent challenges in Novigrad with it including that high stake tournament.

I found them about equally matched in terms of spies, while Nilfgaard had a far superior card draw and quite a few more heroes. I admit that Siegemaster Foltest is quite useful however.

Edit: Then again much depends on the luck of what cards you can acquire.

It's rare to lose gwent since 90% of opponents just waste most of their cards first round.

Haven't won a round yet. Mostly because it didn't look interesting enough to learn to play propperly. They could have lifted the dice poker game from witcher 2 with zero effort and I would have been happier.

I dunno, I suppose it's for magic aficienados or something. Boring as all hell.

Is that dice game not in tw3 anymore? If so, why? I thought it worked quite well.

I greatly preferred the dice game from Witcher over Witcher 2, and it's irritating to learn that the game is gone entirely from W3, if so.
