Guard Dog Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 No kidding? Well happy birthday. I'm drinking a toast to you right now. Guard Dog Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Just saw that Joe ****er died yesterday. That's a bummer. "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

Azdeus Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Belated happy birthday! And merry christmas Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken
Malcador Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Happy Birthday Shady. Downtown here is deserted, seems all the smart people took today off. Still working here, though I am just listening to music and staring at the ceiling until 4 pm. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
LadyCrimson Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Xmas Eve ... starting tonight, I'll get to put up with enjoy having hubby home 24/7 for over 10 days. Let's see if I can drag him out of the house, away from his snoozing, once in a while to do something like see a movie/get some dinner somewhere nice. Just not the day after Xmas. We hide in the house then, because it's always pure madness. All the sale-maddened-stampeding herds. There's a pretty, low lying fogginess to the morning. Where it's not really thick but has that sort of walking in a light cloud, movie feeling. I find it enjoyable, walking around the neighborhood with hot cocoa in hand. “Things are as they are. Raithe Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Happy Birthday Shady. Struggling to find the Christmas cheer a the moment, it's feeling distinctly non-christmasy. Then again, from the sounds of it , my mother's in hospital till the new year now. The only Christmas decoration up is a 6 inch light-up Christmas tree that plugs into my pc... Woldan Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Happy Birthday Shady! Then again, from the sounds of it , my mother's in hospital till the new year now. Ugh, why? I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Raithe Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Oh, the mix of things. Infection, fluids in the lungs, strange this that and the other. Multiple weeks of antibiotics through central line, and issues not being able to put her in the MRI scanners and such because of the magnet in her head (amid other things). Various specialists going through a slow process of clearing her organs one by one as they try to figure it out, and of course its Christmas so various specialists who booked time off make it even more difficult to get sensible times for advanced medical processes and machinery. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."

Woldan Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 My grandmother had similar symptoms, fluids in the lungs is usually a sign of a heart weakness/disease. Hope thats not the case and that she'll get better soon! I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Walsingham Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Drank a pint of berocca multivitamins last night before going to sleep. Had the most crazy intense dreams. 1 "It wasn't lies. Woldan Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) I just re-activated my old stationary bike, I'm afraid of losing my endurance over the winter months (which actually never happens but the fear still exists) and I can't be bothered to go outside cycling while its snowing and icy. Those speeds in combination with the current road conditions is certain suicide. Drank a pint of berocca multivitamins last night before going to sleep. Had the most crazy intense dreams. Happens to me too, thats why I stopped taking multivitamins, those make my hyper and give me dreams that make me question my sanity. Also magnesium supplements have a similar effect on me. Hurlshort Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I injured my knee a week ago, so I haven't been running, and I tried to go use the stationary bike at the gym. It was really a bore. I used to do that regularly, I'm not sure what changed. I guess I'm just addicted to running now, I feel terrible not being able to do it. 1

I guess I'm just addicted to running now, I feel terrible not being able to do it.The stationary bike is dreadfully boring, what you can do to spice things up is interval training. Put the resistance to max / mountain setting and do at least 40 km/h for 5-10 minutes (depending on your fitness), rest, rinse and repeat 5 times. Pedaling like a madman is so exhausting you will not have the energy to feel bored. Edited December 24, 2014 by Woldan I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Hurlshort Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Yeah, I've been interval training on the bike for 20 years, I think I've just hit the absolute boredom point. I used to love the whole uphill hard push for two minutes, two minutes off, two minutes on, etc. It is great training for hockey, which is basically about a 90 second sprint every shift. I should probably try some different machines, but really I'm just trying to give myself a few days before I get back out on the track.
LadyCrimson Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 I watch TV or read a book while on indoor pedaling. Doesn't bother me to hold a book/sit up for reading during, I have good balance I guess. I wasn't bored, anyway. Staring at a wall/window during any machine exercise is always boring, tho. “Things are as they are. Nepenthe Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Enjoying 5 days off... Work's been, well, interesting. Fun enough, nice people, but mostly have to figure a lot of stuff out for myself (ie. pester those few that know what to do) due to the people who should be teaching me being either on maternity leave or on death's door. Happy to be back in Helsinki and earning a living wage, at least! You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions

There's something about running, just taking off in any direction you like. Beats gym work all to hell. My spine has locked up from about the mid point down. It doesn't hurt which is good. But I can't take my bloody boots off! I may just go to bed with them on. Novel Christmas morning, eh? "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. ManifestedISO Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Working out ... work gives me a workout, plenty of lifting and cardio. I'm good. Orogun01 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Merry Christmas y'all! I love you guys even if my family doesn't think you're real friends. 6 I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.
ShadySands Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 The tamales were great but the roasted pork shoulder ended up being the star of the night (well that and the sriracha 2 go keychains I gave everyone). Happy Christmas everyone 2 Free games updated 3/4/21
