The Giant E3 Thread

It was played and voiced by actors, following a script. Which isn't bad, it was just done - I don't know - artificially, which implicitly tells me the AI was heavily scripted as well and won't be anywhere near as reactive as seen in the game. I'm guessing they wanted to something similar to what The Division did last year.

Oh and the new one looks pretty sweet too.

that Rainbow Six video is awful. it's the complete opposite of what multiplayer actually looks in these scenarios. I'm not impressed. it looks more like a scene from an action movie.

no tactics, no CQC, just running around and shooting at any moving targets with a red bar above their heads... meh, how the mighty have fallen.

A trend that was kicked into mainstream when Apple and Google managed to steal their respective markets by talking about why they did what they did as to opposed to simply selling what. It's a mantra in modern media marketing that people don't buy what you sell they buy why you sell it.

I wouldn't necessarily say Google and Apple bat a thousand with their products, but there's no denying how powerful their marketing approach is.

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

So Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 with typical "no actual gameplay" trailers/teaser don't do much for me.

The thought of GF remastered though .... salivating buckets. I was just thinking to trying to make it run the other day, god forbid i could replay the whole game. Now i'll just wait some more.

Now days I avoid gaming show like any reasonable working person avoids MMORPGs.. so many things todo so little time :(

Still, on the chance that obsidian will release some news, new trailer or gameplay-footage for PoE, I reserve a spot on the hype train :)

Why is every E3 video now with the developers going "this is how we make the game and why it's special" rather than just letting the gameplay/trailer speak for itself?

They serve an important function. The hype trailers are there to get your attention, distinguishing them from dozen of similar titles offers pretty much the same. While the "why" is to engage\hock you, facilitated by desire to build communities that would drive the project forward. (Its what dev diaries has been about, what Kickstarters are and what we are doing here) I think its a nice trend for most games, it force them to work on more than pushing button that make awesome stuff happen ;)

Cuphead E3 2014 trailer.  Dunno if the game is any good, but I like the style harkening back to old cartoons.

If nothing else, the art style in Cuphead is magnificent.

Meh. Same as the Rainbow Six stuff. So heavily scripted, I've never seen a single multiplayer game that was remotely like that. The reality is, everyone spawns, everyone runs around like crazy, someone starts shooting, everyone wants to have the first / best kills, etc. Multiplayer games just don't work like shown in the videos.

Thanks for posting this! It looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous! It reminds me of Hitchc o c k (of course), Scratches, and also of Don't Starve a bit. :)

When will it be released? And will it be available on Steam?

Pretty boring E3 so far.

Oh lawdeh, please let the following bit about Bloodborne be true

It's going to be kind of a side game to the Souls series and more low fantasy compared to high fantasy. They are replacing magic with gadgets, guns and such. Main mechanic seems to be related to blood and blood is also used to regain your HP and gain various other benefits. You get blood sucking it from corpses or items. Sucking too much blood will turn you into a beast which I suppose is this game's Soul/Hollow form. The game will apparently become a lot harder to play/control when in beast mode. To become a human again you need human blood and is where the online component comes into play.

Hype rising even further.

Right now I've only seen 2015 as a release date.  Initial trailers had 2014, but the new E3 is saying 2015.

It is supposed to be available via Steam

Dammit, journalists who interviewed developers seem haves some serious sexual issues, tired of them licking devs asses, "Oh god" "Amazing", "Nexgen". F*&****g freak show.

Well, given how disproportionately loudly the audiences cheer over shabby trailers and alpha gameplay, it seems to be something  contagious over at E3.

Had no idea there was a world-building element in Marvel Infinity. I wonder could I create my own battle between Elektra and Black Widow ...

Similar tools allow players to build castles, towns, and complicated platforming challenges just as easily. Avalanche says the toolset even lets users automatically build entire Toy Boxes from scratch – including terrain, enemy characters, and collectables.

The Toy Box is deeper this time around, with sophisticated new tools that give creators additional freedom. Highlights include the ability to connect Toy Boxes together through doors; customizable inventories and the building blocks required to create and manage in-game economies; and user-configurable NPCs. If you’re paying attention, those could be used in tandem to create simple RPGs.

In theory you could based on what they're saying about 2.0.  In practice we'll see.

Creating any kind of storyline was a challenge in 1.0 (although you could, for example, create an arena for example where two characters fought and the system would track who got to 10 wins first or something).

I'm really hoping that creating worlds is a faster experience; its a big challenge in 1.0 (not unfun, its way, but it is real easy to get partway through and realize the idea isn't working the way you'd thought it was).

Nintendo is getting into the Skylanders/Infinity market-
