Is PC gaming dead?

Recommended Posts

I think CoD is dead in the next gen. That franchise is so already so spent its not even funny.

Eventually another one will take over that offers something new, and then it will bleed itself to death while making a boat load of money before the next one replaces it.

I still don't get what makes the new Ghost dog more special than the one in CoD:MW3. Is the MW3 dog in MP? Is that why nobody notices it and that somehow makes the Ghost one unique?

You see, ever since the whole Doritos Locos Tacos thing, Taco Bell thinks they can do whatever they want.

I think the ghost dog was just about sharing the tech ideas (i.e. actually mocapping a dog) and whatnot, for their attention to details.

As huge as Modern Warfare is for multiplayer, I wouldn't be surprised if there are actually groups that enjoy the single player a lot too.

Perhaps, I don't know what the sales have been of the latest couple, yet I somehow doubt it.

Dunno, but its all the same game and they come out so frequently I don't know how come people get excited over it again and again.  I stopped playing them with World at War.

Actually I'm a fan of Call of Duty for the single player campaigns only. For whatever reason I just can't get into the multiplayer no matter how much I've wanted to in the past.

I am awaiting the first medieval call of duty game. Or how about CoD: WW1 ... Still many settings left to exploit under the CoD brand.

COD: WW1 would be cool :)

Get up, run into no man's land, die?

I think CoD games and the modern setting as an appeal from a "gun porn" perspective too.  People go "Oh yeah I just twinked out my M4 Carbine" and the like.  I don't know if they get that feeling from twinking out their Mauser Kar '98 haha.

A K98 with Picatinny rails, taclight, foregrip and an ACOG would be funny though.

Wonder what the medieval equivalent of 'Oscar Mike!' is.

Maybe Activision and Ubisoft will merge.

Fanfare of Obligation: Renaissance Crusade?

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Make it a super merger and toss in a "Battlefield" in front of it!

Add "Bad Company" to it, and then even I'd get it. I like those ones.

Best selling game ever.

EDIT: I thought I'd look on Origin for B:BC, and it's still $49.99 for the deluxe edition of 2. I think I'll wait for a sale. I guess the first one was console exclusive.

Yeah the first one was console exclusive.

Although that price does seem high.  I don't know if the deluxe edition's weapons really warrant the bonus weapons (since you can get BFBC2 and Vietnam expansion for $35 individually).

But yeah, wait for a sale haha.

Game designers and the industry at large really just suck. Period.

Just watching a 10MB Ms-Dos (Master of Magic) game owning a 3GB (Elemental) game is a friggin disgrace. I view myself and the computer community, as brainless losers with no life at all.

Because let's face it, if we truly had a life, we would've abandoned this platform a long time ago. There's something called self-respect, a virtue we lost a long time ago. You either die as a Heroe, or live long enough to watch yourself become the villain :skull:

That's a pretty defeatist attitude, Felithvian.  Worthwhile games still get made all the time.  Look at World of Goo, or FTL, or Portal, or Machinarium, just to name a few from the last 6 years or so.  There is, always has always been, and always will be, a giant sea of mediocrity out there, but if you're careful with your fishing you can always catch some keepers.  Even better, since so many of the truly worthwhile games these days aren't "AAA", you don't have to drop $50 for them, you can get them for $15 or $20 (or cheaper on a sale).

I blame Windows 95. It threw everything off the file-size:goodness ratio.
