WDeranged Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I spent most of today (and last night) arguing with a girl, every now and again she'll have a bad day and I won't react in the way she wants...this inevitably brings on days of cold shoulder with no explanation of what's wrong, then things get blown all out of proportion and we both end up miserable, tale as old as time I know but jesus my brain hurts

Rosbjerg Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 At the risk of sounding like a douche, I'm talking about the girl I'm friends with here, not the girls I sleep with. It's not a problem to sleep with an ***hole (I actually recommend doing that, it's refreshingly bad for you in a good way) - but it's not good for you staying friends with one. If a "friend" is a consistent source of frustration rather than a good influence.... Why not instead spend the time you would feel bad, finding better friends? 1 Fortune favors the bald.
Raithe Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Heh. Remember I mentioned that girl in Mexico that I had to feel aggravated over because I did the principled thing? I just found out she had her 17th birthday last week. I'm trying to decide whether I should still get the happy ego boost over the incident, aggravated that principles got in the way of a rather cute mexican girl and insisting I actually escorted her back safely, or guilty for how good she felt when she did plaster herself against me. Well for me, the fighting is part of the fun. Granted this is usually with angry Slavs. Depends in the end though, crap like that can happen every so often and the friendship might be good enough to just overlook and deal with that. Or in my case, the woman is my mother so the rages and bustups I just have to deal with, blood and all Why has elegance found so little following? I was going to make a pithy remark about the age of consent in Mexico, but it turned out to be 12, so I reconsidered. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions

Woldan Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Got my tooth pulled, it was hopelessly cracked and beyond repair. I really miss it. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
LadyCrimson Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hubs has had root canals and cracked molars....I've had nothing like that. Cavities occasionally. But I am prone to gum disease towards the back, it seems, regardless of how much I floss and brush and rinse (which I do like mad). Had the gums flayed open once and never bothering with that again, since it didn't seem to do anything. My smile looks ok so I just figure one day those back teeth will fall out from being too loose and I'll get bridges or something. As long as I can grind up my beef jerky into a fine powder in a food processor and gum on that for the flavor, I'm cool. “Things are as they are. Gorth Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Didn't really think it warranted it's own thread and it wasn't really a scientific discovery, but I'm a "fan" of amusing and odd news stories. Saw this one during my lunch break (old history, but I really hate lawn mowing). Honda races to build speedy lawnmower for Top Gear team They are targeting a speed of 130mph (210km/hr). "The main engineering challenge stems from the need to retain the look of the lawnmower on which it is based, and the ability to still cut grass while achieving the speed and the handling characteristics required for this type of vehicle" Should get those lawns taken care of in no time “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Oh, and the blades are gonna be whirling at 4000 rpm. On a personal note, I turned in my two weeks today. Only one manager was really around and he doesn't care. Rosbjerg Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Well at least you die quickly if you get caught in the path of that thing. Got my tooth pulled, it was hopelessly cracked and beyond repair. I really miss it. I'm guessing it's in the back? Because otherwise they usually create a plastic replacement. Fortune favors the bald.

I could get a ceramic-composite copy of my old tooth but its very expensive, like half-of-my-monthly-salary-expensive. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Guard Dog Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) OMG where can I get one of those! (The lawnmower that is, not Woldans new tooth!) Labadal Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I should never buy a lawnmower like that. I'd probably just use it for racing purposes.

Yeah it's crazy, I chipped one of my teeth a few years back, half of it broke off and just to build it in plastic was like 220€. It took 2 people about 15 minutes.. That's a pretty good hour salary. For lawyers more than dentists (certainly the ones I know who have a non-stop client stream the whole day) the big problem is getting the billable hours. Less so in Big Law where you can rack up hours on individual cases, but for example today, I was told that I should have prepped a case for the court of appeal in three hours, including three written statements that they asked beforehand. When I get paid for 1/3 of the hours I spend at work, the hourly rate has to go up or it's just not viable... Dentists and doctors are a lot eorse than lawyers, btw. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Raithe Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Heh, I just had a copy of Remember Me turn up in the post. So I thought I'd set it up to install before I headed off to the bank.. Probably all you have on the disc is a fancy way of asking your steam client to download the game. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
