Titan Quest: Immortal Throne 1.17a fanpatch

having the most ROFL luck. I got Epic Stonebinder Cuffs on my first runthrough off a Profaner in the Medusa caves HAHA. Also got the Normal ones on my first re-run off Medusa.

Cool, will do if I wind up there.  Right now, for whatever reason, I'm not in any mood to do anything superhero themed.

I couldn't care lessa bout superheroes myself.

What I care about are customization options and CO is the only game that lets may create the characters I like.

They changed the UI and I recorded it at too low sound, with horrible sound quality and a throat that hurt like hell, but have a look at

I made many moons ago ;)

Titan Quest is freakin' awesome.  I can't wait for Grim Dawn, from the lead designer and some of the people that worked on Titan Quest.  The alpha should be dropping within a matter of weeks, if not days, and I'm in on that.  I'm giddy like a school girl backstage at a Bieber concert.

So talked to a guildie who played Mars: War Logs.

He said it could have used a bit more polish and the gameplay is a bit wonky. At least in the starting area there seemed to be quite a bit of fetch missions. He enjoys the setting a lot and thinks for the low price it is a good purchase, though he hasn't made up his mind if he likes it or not.

Though he warned me not to expect what some people online seem to claim: Witcher 2 on Mars. Apparently it isn't that ;)

So I am back to square one. No "Buy it!" or "Don't buy it!" opinion :)

I too am teetering on the edge of pulling the trigger on this one.  I've been hearing mildly positive things about it.

I grabbed E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy in some Steam sale a while back, seemed rather interesting. Alas, it probably needs a 500page manual to make any sense at all. Me and IGN don't usually see eye to eye (no pun intended) but this time I agree with them.

I did the same. Played it a very very short bit and realized it would be a full-time job to even begin to understand it.

I got bored with Age of Conan. Now to give Terra a try and after that, perhaps the Old Republic.

I changed it over there to the sleepy rat too, for consistency's sake.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on Mars: War Logs.  With the 20% voucher I got it for 16 bucks flat at Green Man Gaming.  At that price my curiosity and love of sci-fi overrode my tightfistedness.  I've played it for about an hour so far and I've already had more fun with it than my recent foray into MMO Land.

***Grain Of Salt Alert!  Super Small Sample Size***

* It looks a lot like Rage, though not nearly as graphically good.

* The fighting and RPG systems are sort of like something along the lines of The Witcher 2.

* Graphic and production values are really good for a 20 dollar download only indie game, though not AAA.

* Voice acting ranges from bad to halfway decent.

* Crafting system seems decent, though not overly deep.

Again, I'm barely scratching the surface, so all these thoughts are based on very little gameplay and extremely subject to change, but I'm enjoying this Rage/The Witcher 2 mashup so far.  For a budget title, it seems quite good so far.  Hopefully it stays that way throughout.

Sounds interesting, will have to take a closer look.

Still playing Defiance.

Having more fun now that I have started to get the hang of it and don't die as often as I did two days ago.

Managed to rank first on a minor Arkfall event. Yay :)

Spend a good hour exploring and searching for stuff only to give up, do a story mission and have the story mission lead me right to them...

Played some more Mars: War Logs.  I'm really liking it.  It's thoroughly impressive for a budget title.  Heck, some publishers would likely try to pass this off as a $40 or $50 game.  It's like a mashup of Rage, Dune, Firefly and Chronicles of Riddick, with The Witcher 2's combat system and classless 3 skill tree advancement system.

Perspective is an interesting thing.  Had I paid $40 or $50 for this, I don't know if I would be enjoying it as much right now, despite the fact that it's better than some big budget titles.  However, having paid $16 for it, I feel like I got a real bargain, which is probably adding enjoyment to what is already a pretty fun game.

Shovelware is the new AAA.

EDIT: kidding aside, I see this is a Spiders game who worked on Of Orcs and Men so I should check this out (although Cyanide wrote the story for that game).

I must be one of few to consider the combat being compared to Witcher 2 to be a bad thing. How bad depends on whether you mean fighting before or after they patched Witcher 2...

Of Orcs and Men has some really nasty DRM (apparently most Cyanide games do) which is why I've stayed well away from it for now. Maybe I'll pick it up when (if ever) it appears on GOG.

After they patched it.  I'd say it's a little better than fully patched The Witcher 2 combat, but that's the best comparison I can make because the style of combat is very similar.  Attack, parry, roll around, use ranged attacks, plant traps, etc.  The skill tree progression is also somewhat similar.  You have 3 skill trees that you can advance in to make a "specialist" or a jack of all trades.  There's a physical combat focused tree, a rogue-ish tree, and a mage-ish tree.  Similar to The Witcher 2, you can focus on the fighting elements you use or enjoy the most, but you'll never profoundly change the nature of the combat.  Geralt is who he is, similarly, Roy is who he is.

It's a budget title through and through.  The lypsincing is out of whack, there are some minor misspellings and mistranslations, the game is chock full of cliches, levels are relatively linear with only a small bit of room to explore, yet beneath all that is a pretty enjoyable game with some real campy charm.  Some people have written that it's like playing a game from 2006 with all the bad and the good that comes with it.  That's a relatively accurate assessment.

Edit: The DRM is Steamworks.  The engine is solid as a rock.  I have had a grand total of zero issues downloading, installing, and playing the game.

Cyanide games have stupid DRM if bought directly from their own store. They have only steamworks if bought through Steam.

I was very happy when eventually I could bind my Blood Bowl games to Steam and be done with the stupid online activation through Cyanide.

I have a boxed copy of Of Orcs and Men, and it merely uses Steamworks.

NWN2: Storm of Zehir. Playing this in short bursts so it feels like I don't get much done. Today, I managed to complete 3 or 4 quests, so that felt good. I'd like to see a wrpg do a world map in this style with a bigger world and more detail to it. It could be fun to explore, making use of your abilities like you do here, like finding ruins, avoiding enemies, etc.

I was thinking exactly this when I saw the game - it seemed like bargain at the price. It's a shame that so much money has to be spend on advertising to reach the broad appeal the big games needs, I think in the end that's what makes AAA games so expensive.

Fortune favors the bald.
