One of the really interesting/cool/funny stuff that I enjoyed from Fallout 2 was the death animations from different weapons used against enemies. "But this is supposed to be an IE game, not Fallout 2," you say, and I would think back to BGII. BGII also had the famous "chunking" animation, where if you were hit with a critical hit there was a chance that your body would "chunk" to pieces and fly everywhere (Adamantium golem anyone?). It would be really cool to see more death animations in this game.

Burning bodies running around, acidified body melting, souls being removed straight from the body, etc. That would add some fun to the game. This, of course, all depends on the budget and time allowed for these things. If doing these animations is going to take away from something more important, then don't do it. But I'd like the devs to at least consider this as a possibility.

:) Here is an example :)

Yes, that's what I want to say!

Like fallout2, the similar dark humor combat log, the similar varied way of death. That will be great fun!

How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.

Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

I vote yes

I hope you guys meant "like Fallout" and not "like Fallout 2" :p

Just kidding, I think it's a great idea, and if possible I'd like to see this feature or something similar in PE.

I haven't played fallout 1 because there wasn't a Chinese translation :p

While it would be nice, can you imagine the work needed to do this with 3D models for all the different enemy types in combination with all the different death effects? I remember Tim said in one of the Q&A updates they wouldn't be doing a grapple ability because they would have to create a custom animation for each enemy.

But now with the extra people they can bring on, who knows? I would still rather the resources directed to more varied animations for the different enemies to bring more character to them while they are alive personally.

Hence if they have the time. If they want to do it for bosses, that'd be cool too. Something to give the game a little flavor. I see all these posts about realism this and realism that and how we want moar bettar story, but at the end of the day, this isn't a book or a movie or anything but a game. Let's try to remember it's supposed to be fun too.

Actually, fairly simple death animations wouldn't take much development time at all.

I'd like to see killing blows or "finishers" or whatever-you-want-to-call-them as in DA:O.

THAT would take more time. I wouldn't support that. it would take more time in development and it would slow down combat.

Death animations seem like a reasonable request, it makes sense that an axe to the head and a magic missle to the chest should result in a different looking kill. I have a feeling this may already be in the works anyway, but a good suggestion if not.

God, I think I need to reinstall Fallout 1 and 2 after I finish my Torment and BG 1+2+TB playthroughs ... Oh, yeah. I'm all for specialized kill animations for certain methods of dying (fireballs, acid, cleaving, bludgeoning, piercing, freezing ... ) they probably shouldn't go completely crazy, but a little variety would be cool.

Just keep in mind that Fallout's death animations were mainly aimed towards humans and humanoids so the animation was pretty similar across enemies. In P:E we might have all sorts of baddies and if they want to do this for all of them, it might take a while...

just sayin'

We don't know if they are going to use rag-doll physics, that's a "simple" way to make 3d-deaths more unique.

God I miss Fallout 1&2's death animation, 3&NV's is like, super boring. Unfortunately, rendering something like that in 3d would probably be more than the PS3 could handle, and thus it would not be. Console gamers, huh?

One recent survey by a Washington-based researcher concluded that Americans were far more willing to participate in cannibalism then they have in the past hundred years. America is a nation that will not suffer abominations lightly.

It was one of the things that truly made the Fallout experience unique. I had never seen the same enemy killed differently with different weapons. It made me want to try out the different weapons to see how many ways I could kill something. My favorite has got to be the electric death with the spiked hair.

Oh, and it felt oh so satisfying blowing off a chunk of my enemies. I'm not sure why...

i wote yes for death animations

Oh yes, God yes!

It's always the little things like this that add up and make the experience a lot more satisfying.

I saw the topic and immediately thought of Fallout 1+2. :)

This is a great idea and should be added to the game, if there is enough time.

Aye, this would be a good thing IMO, if there's time for it. Because there's little sense in it if there's only, say three, different animations. If they're implemented, they should have variety a plenty.

Dude, I can see my own soul.....
