Well now I want to join in on the speculation. Maybe the letters are just a distraction. I've tried blowing up the image to see what the red colored patch on his satchel is. I can't make it out, but it does look somewhat similar to TORN.

I seriously doubt this is anything but a new IP from Obsidian. A license would constrain them too much. I think that's already been established right?
