Hi

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, had lots of R/L stuff to be getting on with.

D3 is out 15th May.

If anybody wants to co-op for hours on end while drinking beer and giggling lots then sign-up here with battle.net details etc.

Cheers

MC

I play lots of CoH online with Americans but, yes, mainly at weekends.

But let's face it, it's Diablo 3. Time zones will become immaterial. Wives will become fractious. Bosses will look at their watches and wonder where we are.

Haha, that's why I work at home:)

Game looks rather underwhelming after watching countless LP videos. But watching Diablo is different than playing it. Somebody got into the Beta and descibe the whole "feeling"?

I know a couple people in the betas. One didn't like numerous things about it (skill UI for one) back in late Feb...and then fell silent. The other, more recently, described the experience as "does feel simpler than D2 but still fun."

I'm still not buying, even if it's awesome. And I'm sure it'll still be considered awesome by most. :)

Diablo 3 is dead to me. A combination of little things over the years that I've seen/heard that've put me off.

Quite a shame, but I'm very excited for Torchlight 2's multiplayer still. Will buy that on day one, and for 1/4 the price of Diablo 3 (**** you Activision, you ruined Blizzard).

No doubt it's gonna be a fun game. It's just not 2000 anymore, so I look at different priorities in games these days.

I still kinda hope that Blizzard one day is gonna make a full blown RPG, maybe set in Sanctuary? I'd buy that. But Diablo 3 right now just looks too banal.

I would like to join you, but until Blizzard removes perma online requirement for Single Player, I will not buy this game... Its a shame, I spent more than 4 years playing D2 SP and MP...

Ive seen a few of you mention the online requirement as being a deal breaker. Is that due to you having a monthly bandwidth limit or are you just fighting "the man"?

When I spend avg. 20 days in a month travelling or flying around the Europe, why should I have to trouble myself with finding a hotel with unlimited and fast enough bandwith, which allows you to use torrent traffic (Blizzard Downloader which is used for patching all current Blizzard games is torrent downloader if you do not know that), when I can just open my laptop and run hundreds of other games without this retarded requirement. And I am not speaking about some hotels which ask 20+ EUR a day for wi-fi connection...

I play games when I travel. I DO NOT USE personal accounts on a hotel wireless. That's the perfect way to get a LOT stolen from you.

Hence, wireless games requiring online with personal attached accounts is a no go.

I even bring a console with me while I travel.

Furthermore at home, I live with more than one person in the house. The all have internet usage that they utilize. I game offline a lot, especially when not on the internet.

Normally I'm reading news, or on a forum, or something else when connected.

So, yes, constant online can be a deal breaker for me.

I'll play casual games that I can switch back and forth from a text to the game, or from what I'm reading on a PC to a game when I'm actually online, or if I play MP...but for an SP game...if it's not casual and short...it's probably going to be played on an offline machine when others are online and not I.

There's a lot of other items that Diablo 3 has against it, but the constant online could be one of the straws that broke the camel's back.

I wouldn't say that's the deal-breaker. However it was clear from the start (no LAN game) that it's just a form of DRM advertised as a feature. A feature which actually takes away options? Using battlenet for multiplayer, ok - forcing it on single... why? I don't know if it qualifies as fighting 'the man', I'm not saying they should release it as free (as in speech) software, you know. :)

No bandwidth limit here. I don't think I'd describe it as "fighting" "the man" either, altho it is a principle thing with me. If they want to have an online for singleplayer requirement, that's their business. I don't expect/have illusion that my not buying the game will make even a remote dent in their policies. If my internet goes down, I want to still be able to play the game, for example. I'd have been less peevish about it perhaps if their excuses for implementing it hadn't been so pathetic. At least be man enough to admit it's nothing more than DRM, ala Ubisoft etc, or turn it into an MMO to begin with.

But it wasn't just that...the RealID thing annoyed me, the direction Activision/Blizzard has been going in has annoyed me...and the game videos I've seen/stuff I've read about D3 didn't make the game sound very awesome, either. Combo of all sorts of things.

Umm yes, the RealID... I have completely forgotten about it... actually it was a reason why I have put parental controls on my own WoW account, bacause that was the only way, how to opt out of it... I think they made some changes later to the RealID, but I do not care anymore, I cancelled all subscriptions, and I still have unused Cataclysm serial key...
