Morgoth
Cool, so such offensive speech as exhibited by the numbers man is now allowed and even defended here on these forums? Note taken. Guard Dog
What is it with those Canadians always fervently defending their American masters? But Afghanistan? I thought that in 2003/04 the mission was already "accomplished". Why are you guys still there? And would you vindicate invading Iran and/or Syria if Israel asks your government? You don't think this would go too far? No I don't think Iran or Syria should be invaded. The only reason I could see invading Iran would be if a nuclear weapon they created were to suddenly go off in a US city. Even if it were delivered by a terrorist group, all bets are off then. But short of that, no. I was opposed to invading Iraq in 2003, I was opposed to intervening in Lybia. But. GWB never asked me what I thought so... By the way, don't pick on Canadians, they'll be running things before too long: http://outfront.blog...ext-superpower/ Doing pretty good eh? This certainly will contribute a lot to the quality of debate and atmosphere here in the future. Now THIS is rich. As for Canada as a superpower, feh, the government here (Tories at least, they like being war hard) may have delusions about Canada's clout on the world stage but I think I will end there. Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
213374U
It's the same stupid game again. But the US is a young nation that is like a little disorientated child. Without her parents (Europe) showing her the way, they're now doing....stupid things. Also, wars were fought prior the industrial revolution and the race for African colonies. Yes, there are plenty good reasons you went to war in the past, mostly due to the lack of technology that did not give people the living standards they enjoy today. Arguably, the US is simply applying a modern version of the tried-and-true Roman policies of client rulers -by outright buying them out whenever they can- and a selective use of force wherever it's unavoidable or just convenient to maintain their preeminency in global matters. And they have proved even better at it than any of the old Euro empires ever were, save for the British -these favored a more hands-on approach, though- so it's preposterous to accuse them of stupidity. And please, show me these "past wars" started for "good reasons". Chances they can all be broken down to a combination of stupidity, greed or envy. Anything else is just window dressing by historians. PS: You also have been reported for name calling.Aww... Quite right. Its because they erased from their political perception any and all ideologies that were such a draw for Europeans (even for the very flexible British) and distilled all interaction down to pure pragmatism, completely freed from moral, or other constraints. Ideology exists of course, but none of the real decision makers are going to be swayed by it. Very much like the Romans. Walsingham
I love the way that the OP was about organised militias murdering peole for looking a bit gay, but within one page it was back to the usual suspects flailing away about how America is evil. You people (and you know who you are) are unhealthily obsessed. There's no way it's rational. I'm amazed no-one's written it up as a pathology. "It wasn't lies.
