Giantevilhead Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm hoping for Avatar: The Last Airbender. They could have an elemental combination system like the combination attack system in Phantasy Star 4, Chrono Trigger, and Dragon Age. It could be done with either a party based RPG or an First/Third person shooter/RPG/adventure game. If it's a party based RPG then you can have different characters in the party execute attacks at the same time to create the new effect like they do in Phantasy Star 4 and Chrono Trigger if it's turn based, or like Dragon Age if it's real time. If it's a First/Third person shooter/RPG/adventure game then you'll probably be playing as the Avatar then you could tie different attacks to different buttons and if you press the buttons at the same time then it creates a combination attack. You can also have the option of tying a combination attack to a button once you've discovered it.
Masterfade Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I had always wanted a Duckula RPG in the Ravenloft setting. Definitely has the potential to be a masterpiece of Gothic-poultry existentialism.
Morgoth Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Narnia the RPG. Rain makes everything better.
Lexx Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 This would be horrible. "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Morgoth Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 What kind of game publisher does have access to "leading animation franchise" IPs? Disney? Warner? Anyone else? Tron RPG? Rain makes everything better.
Jaesun Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Tron RPG? THAT would be awesome. Some of my Youtube Classic Roland MT-32 Video Game Music videos | My Music | My Photography

funcroc Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Obsidian is hiring senior/intermediate level designers for their highly stylized 2D RPG.
C2B Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Obsidian is hiring senior/intermediate level designers for their highly stylized 2D RPG. Sounds pretty good. Love of computer and console role-playing/action games Looks like its going to be (unsurprisingly) more of an action-rpg too. That said, considering the subject matter (animation franchise) thats probably not a bad decision.
Flouride Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Looks like its going to be (unsurprisingly) more of an action-rpg too. That said, considering the subject matter (animation franchise) thats probably not a bad decision. Unless they release a fully indie game, I don't see any publisher giving them money to make a "proper" rpg. Hate the living, love the dead.
Flouride Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Dave Hoffman from Square Enix said this on Twitter four hours ago: "just got back from Dream Works Animation Studios. Saw a sneak peek screening of Puss in Boots. Two thumbs up on that movie!" Maybe related? Hate the living, love the dead.
WorstUsernameEver Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) I seriously doubt it. EDIT: By the way, is it just me or are the requirements for the position kind of.. ludicrous? I'm not an expert on game development, but isn't it kind of difficult to find a senior level designer who also has experience as an illustrator? Edited October 20, 2011 by WorstUsernameEver

Flouride Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 http://www.formspring.me/JESawyer/q/251012524428761868 Zane Lyon is still working as project director on one of Obsidian's unannounced projects. So, Virginia is still on? Or do I confuse him? I don't think they would have cancelled Virginia since it's supposedly an original IP for digital release. Zane is either leading Virginia or New York (the animation project). We know that Josh is project director on one project (some source at RPGCodex claims it's North Carolina). Adam Brennecke was the project director on DS3 DLC and is now working as senior programmer on an unnannounced project. Hate the living, love the dead.
Gorth Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I would still like to know more about project New Jersey some day “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
bigcrazewolf Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I would still like to know more about project New Jersey some day It's a story about a once beautiful place that turned into a cesspool of crime, radon, trash, and over population. Morgoth Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Project New Jersey = 7 Dwarves game that got canceled eons ago. Volourn had a nervous breakdown after that. How many project does Obsidian currently have in work? Rain makes everything better.
Zoraptor Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Looks like its going to be (unsurprisingly) more of an action-rpg too. That said, considering the subject matter (animation franchise) thats probably not a bad decision. Are we sure that the 2d game and the 'animation franchise' game are one in the same?
Morgoth Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I always thought that Josh's project is the small XBLA game, the 2D one. The animation project (the big one) isn't supposed to be like that. Rain makes everything better.
C2B Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) From what I gathered Virginia = XBLA Action RPG / Project Lead Zane Lyon ? = Original IP / Project Lead Josh Sawyer New York = Animation Project 2D/Project Lead Unknown Edited October 21, 2011 by C2B
Morgoth Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 The XBLA game is original IP, that we know has the mighty Ferg slipped through in an interview. Rain makes everything better.
deuxhero Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 What kind of game publisher does have access to "leading animation franchise" IPs? Disney? Warner? Anyone else? Tron RPG? THQ has the license for some Disney/Pixar work (though Disney Interactive Studios has the rest) as well as Nickelodeon works. Never negotiate. You will only encourage more acts of terror.
