Still holding my breath for the one FPS that won't all "Warrr, **** yeah!" and actually explores the emotional burden of war. But that would be good storytelling and games don't do that o:)

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Somehow I don't think an FPS is suited to exploring the emotional aspect of war, at least to a noticeable degree. Attempts to do it would be somewhat interesting/funny, though.

I would rather a good shooter in the vein of "Serious Sam", or Monolith's "Blood" to one in the style of "Saving Private Ryan", or "Tears of the Sun".

Try 'Painkiller'. The protagonist is very worried that he'll end up in hell :)

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 tried it, was'nt all bad and the game was awesome to me.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

Great shooter, and cheap on GoG. Yahtzee did quite a review of it.

Same or similar phenomena sometimes happens on Amazon. I don't remember it's name but one of those optical cable user review sections were hilarious with everybody pitching in.

Not much detail yet about Carmageddon Resurrection, but I liked the Trip down memory lane video.

Check out the Paper Car section for printable PDF versions of paper cars to cut out and glue together for playing Carmageddon on your table top.

And probably more useful - Hitman Absolution 16 min playthrough

The problem is that Hitman games, fundamentally, shouldn't play like what I have seen in that video. But maybe it's just the tutorial level and the sandbox levels and the complexity are still there.

The Hitman games shouldn't play like the developers, who are the ones making these games, want. But instead they should play like the Hitman games only you can see in your head.

Ok then. Gotcha.

All the intro levels are like that in the Hitman series, so I think it's better to reserve judgement until we see some other levels.. Very Splinter Cell / Deus Ex though, although I kinda liked the takedowns, especially the "shhhh". Evil right there.

Yes, especially as hitman games have been traditionally known as only being playable in a single way. :)

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Doesn't look too bad, the new voice sucks even though he says all of three words, heh. Amazing how good old wood is for blocking rifle and pistol rounds too.

Don't like the new acrobatic aspect, I think they should downplay it. The skill that lets you see through walls seems a bit overkill and may just kill my experience; I hope that it doesn't play that way on higher difficulty levels. But I really liked the one for the yellow bar when he is trying to avoid suspicion.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

You can turn off the seeing through walls on a 'hardcore' difficulty setting.

Ok that makes it worthwhile for me.

Sorry to derail from the Hitman thing, but anyone else checking this AfterFall thing? http://www.afterfall-universe.com/en/index

That's what I said? And to mkreku: what?
