Not a bad day. My eroded patience snapped, and I have transferred my phone line, broadband, bank, website, and e-retailer accounts in a burst of righteous fury. Oh, hold on. I was going to change my gas and electricity...

EDIT: Done. Awesome.

Feels pretty good. Probably go horribly wrong as all the details conflict. :p

Wow 4 cookies, did you ask her out yet?

What for, I'm already getting free cookies. :p

Yeah but for how long?

Why get free cookies one day when you can get a steady supply over time.

The supply is guaranteed as long as they keep baking them. At the end of the day the unsold baked goods get taken by the staff, or binned. So I just get those, not the -best- chocolate chip cookies, but can't complain.

Trying to read a report seriously rather then scanning through it.

I keep losing focus. Or at least I keep having that bit where the words all seem to start phasing in and out of each other.

Yeesh. I need to take a moment and make another attempt at it.

Today my NVIDIA driver gave me a code 43, which means that now i'm running in low res with no GPU.

I need to change my PSN password but they don't sent the automated e-mail so now I have to call tech support. So all in all it's been a Murphy day, but i'm zen through it all.

(And by zen I mean completely misanthropic just a hair trigger from snapping someone in half)

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Got diagnosed ( yesterday ) with stage IV kidney cancer.

Beat that Forumites!

Presently enjoying a delightful mix of percodan and rum and coke. Tomorrow's schedule is a fast from midnight ( 1 1/4 hrs from now ) til 2 PM or later while they drill out a biopsy to decide if/what they are going to do. Surgery presently scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd.

Pictures at 11.

Hey tarna, Gfted1 directed me here, really sorry ti hear about your diagnosis, kick cancer's ass!

Hey Lady! I certainly do remember you from BIS as well as Interplay and The Lair. Good to see that you are still around. How's Preacher? Pissy Missy? :)

Got a brain MRI today ( to find nothing but a sign saying "Space For Rent" ) as well as a lung CAT scan. Apparently kidney cancer spreads to brain, bone, lung and something else ( I don't remember ). Blood work says that bone chemistry looks good and the other scans should indicate if cancer has spread elsewhere or not. Go to see my oncologist tomorrow so I guess I'll get the happy news then. Lung damage I can work with. Brain cancer...well S**t happens. o:)

Tune in tomorrow fans...Same Bat-Time...Same Bat-Channel. :sorcerer:

I won't lie Tarna. That's not good news. Nearly put me off my coffee at 8000 miles...

However, if you'r going a chemo route, having multiple sites isn't necessarily as bad as it sounds. You're gassing the little ****er, not surgically striking it. Chemo your kidneys and you chemo everything else anyway.

Do you know yet if the metastases have protective shells around them?

A positive outlook is supposedly helpful in many situations.. but here's to hoping things turn out in a good way for Tarna.

Hm, mom had one hospital appointment this morning so I was up earlier then normal. The joys , having to see the right specialist anaesthetologist this time that they ****ed up last time. It's weird to think that anaesthotology has become that specialised a field.. you now have them specialising in limbs.. Seriously. There's an anaesthotologist who specialises in "lower limbs" and one who specialises in "upper arms and hands"... Yeesh, I think they're beginning to overkill the specialisation there.

Kind of amusing, mom doing her "I'm happy to go with a nerve block rather then needing general..." then later as the anaesthatist picks up on her allergies to Iodine and such.. mom did the whole "yes well... I've had x number of surgeries now where they miss/forget that and have given me iodine..why do you think I'm so happy and willing to just go with a nerve block? This way I can yell at them if they try to do it again..."

Now it's the wait and see while they sort out the hospital date for the surgery. Waiting lists might just push it to beyond October.. which given that it was supposed to happen the other week and their screwup cancelled that out.. :sorcerer:

Damn right. I only hope that if I ever face it I do half as well.

Having said that, mate. Feel free to panic in front of us.

Ah the sweet joys of a heavy storm. On the one hand.. you can admire the tempestuous grandeur of nature. On the other.. it bloody killed my internet for most of the day.

Although.. to be fair, there's also the 6 weeks roadworks going on outside where they're digging down to do stuff with the gaslines and assorted pipework that might be to blame.

.. Or possibly both causing it together... It's an evil conspiracy I tell you... :shifty:

Another day of -

On the bright side, I get to tear up lots of cardboard boxes tonight, that's always a good stress reliever. Not -as- fun as taking a sledgehammer to a 1983 Civic or something like we did back in school.

LOL. I haven't done that since school. Shredded 8 large boxes to get over being dumped, one time. Hell of a mess.

Happy days...

You know what's awesome about NJ? Pork roll (also called Taylor Ham), what a glorious food stuff.

Yes.

(For the un-initiated, it is in a form similar to salami or bologna, but with different flavoring and generally cut to about 1/4-inch thickness and pan-fried. Best served with an over-easy egg or two and some cheese on a kaiser roll.)

I knew I could count on you guys.

Surely, even Volo isn't that much of a prick!

Hey now! I like Volo.

Good news and bad news. The good news is that I am now taking 15 mg of morphine twice a day. The bad news is that it's woefully insufficient. Imagine getting kicked in the abdomin very hard. Now imagine getting kicked a few dozen more times.

Good times eh?

Good news and bad news. The good news is that the CT scan for my lungs came back clear. So did the MRI of my brain ( nothing there for the cancer to eat  ). The bad news is that apparently there is no cure for kidney cancer that has spread. Also, kidney cancer does not show up on a PET scan so it cannot be located that way. I would imagine that they will be taking the knives and forks to me next week as my oncologist says that they must remove the kidney ( with it's tennis ball sized growth ), two other abdominal growths as well as some nearby lymph nodes. The spot on my liver they may or may not address at that time. This and chemo should buy me 2-5 years ( maybe ).

Good news and bad news. The good news is that there is a treatment that has a 4 percent success rate. It's called IL2. The bad news is that I would spent 2-3 days in intensive care getting a treatment every 8 hours during that time, three weeks off then repeating the treatments over again. It kills 3 percent of it's recipients outright. I don't even get my 2-5 years to settle my affairs.

Good news and bad news. The good news is that I'm finishing posting for now. The bad news is that I'll probably be back to irritate you guys later. o:)

Hey, that 2-5 years is great news Tarna. So much can happen in that time! Wishing you the best.

I have to be honest, this is scaring the crap out of me. I'm supposed to go get my first physical some time this year now that I'm in my 30's. Your story has me torn between rushing to the doctor and hiding under my desk.

2-5 years, that's better than my outlook. Alcoholism will take me out WELL before then.
