(posted in Beth forum, doubling up again)

GLITCH - Boone's combat behavior is messed up - this isn't about aesthetics of him being a 'robot', Boone is actually somewhat "broken."

Here is a video showing the effect. It runs 1min. & 15sec. (first 7 seconds & last 15 seconds are easiest to see because it's daylight in the game).

The glitchy combat behavior is largely consistent and happens with any ranged weapon you give him (not just his default). For testing purposes I removed all pc mods and started a fresh game to make sure mods/corrupt saves wasn't the issue. It's not, he still does it. A couple other ppl on the Beth forums I talk to - who are PS3 users - have told me he does this in their game as well.

The glitch appears to be two-fold: Instead of firing an entire ammo clip with rifle at his shoulder, he will often fire from the hip - which isn't bad itself - but then when he does do a "complete" reload, he puts away his weapon (in combat) when finished reloading, stands still for a second, and then re-equips his weapon to start combat/firing again. Obviously, against Gecko's and such this is not a game breaker but I suspect against stronger enemies this could be a more serious companion-combat disadvantage. I have not observed the other companions having this issue, although I haven't thoroughly tested for that, so perhaps it does affect other companions at least now and then.

I can continue to try to figure out if I can fix him via the Geck (tho this glitch may be beyond me), but if you make another patch, it would be appreciated if at least this aspect of 'broken Boone' might be fixed. :x

From the Beth forums:

I noticed Boone right away and it makes me sad. I used to parade around in front of him in my sexy nightwear and his head would turn to watch me. Not any more.

This must be fixed. :(

At least this one is being honest. Still creepy though.

A kind modder soul managed to find the solution to Boone's constant holstering issue...which also fixed the head-tracking as a byproduct. Apparently they were related. Commenting out 2 lines in one of his dialogue scripts that were causing the AI to recheck some status every 5 seconds or so made him holster. I never, ever would have figured that out. Kudos to him. He uploaded it to newvegasnexus.

Also, I gave one more desperate measure to make patch 1.2 workable for me by completely uninstalling (deleting any leftovers as well) and redownloading/installing the game from Steam yet again. Once installed I put back in all my simple little mods/dance mod/save game files etc. and fired it up. So far, no frozen enemies and Nipton is back to normal. I haven't played too long, but it's hopeful. So for me at least, it appears that just updating the game is bad, and a reinstall is better. Shouldn't be like that, but there it is. I may be able to play 1.2 now. Yay. (edit)changed 1.3 to 1.2...we're not on 1.3 yet, I'm senile.

I want to patch NV for my next playthrough but of course the moment I put Steam back online it tries to update itself, and naturally, since it now has to do something useful, it keeps hanging. I've restarted it more than a dozen times over 2 days and the progress bar goes up and down randomly. Good to know some things still stay the same (crap). Good thing I'm taking a break playing or I'd be pissed.

Well, 1.2's actually made my game slightly buggier I think. The Cowboy Repeater bug where the gun wouldn't fire - I didn't have it, but now it's on half my guns at random times, and the game crashes at the endgame slides. :ermm:

All the quests worked fine though. Hrm.

I had the endgame slides issue. (They would start just fine, but invariably crash within a minute or two.) The solution that worked for me was to quicksave as soon as they began, then load that save.

Haha, that's what happened to me with 1.1. Did you start a new game since installing the patch? Sometimes the patch changes don't seem to work reliably on current saves. They should, perhaps, but sometimes they don't.

Yeah, it was a new game. With the Energy weapons denerfed I was powerful enough that I didn't mind, though. Laser Rifle is actually a very good weapon for 80% of the game with the laser scope and beam splitter mods, essentially a cheap, rapid-fire energy sniper.

Not a bug but an oversight. The Followers of the Apocalypse base in the train yard that is near Camp Golf, the interior doesn't match the size of the building. The building is small and the interior is twice its size, plus the walls and windows makes no sense for the use of that interior.

So I'm playing Fallout NV on the hardcore mode. I am eating and drinking just perfectly. but when it comes to waiting or resting for even 4 hours, when the resting box closes im lying dead on the ground from sleep deprivation, starvation, or something else. What is going on here? I thought I was supposed to sleep, lol, my character O'l Chateup Is gonna go crazy and start seeing gnomes. Which sounds fun, but what if one of the gnomes is actually a baddie.

Since the patched installed I've had crashes when transition to another area, Autosave. Didn't have that problem prior to the patch and this is a new game that I created after I installed the patch.

i remember this book, it's called House of Leaves. i would not go inside any building that is larger on the inside than it is on the outside.

I had that problem last time I played. I heard that it had something to do with taking the feat that speeds up reloading (which I took). Certain weapons play at the fast animation (shotguns, lever actions and other 'pump' type weapons) but are actually reloading at standard rate. Basically the Perk is broken, playing correct animation speed but not actually reloading at that speed. The gun does eventually allow you to fire after the non-perk reload time is done. Don't know if this is true or not. An irritating bug as I loved the shotguns and repeaters and it would happen after every reload.

Have the same. But I notice this a lot only in the Mojave Wasteland. With the Dead Money worldspace it didn't crashed on area loading.

Thanks to the fact that the game doesn't have any debug output, one can't even see why it's crashing at all.

I think I read about this one already someplace else. I suggest it;s just very effective use of soft furnishings to bring out the airiness of the space.

I always enjoyed that Freeside casino that has a broken window outside, but no windows inside.
