What you did today

I'm feeling good, I think I'm done with the narcotic meds and can just use ibuprofen to help the soreness. My swelling around the ankle and knee and gone, and I can put a bit of pressure on the foot now. Still bruised like hell, but everything is getting back to normal.

I know exactly how you feel. I've only recently started running again and I did 2.5 miles on saturday and yesterday was bad but when I woke up this morning I thought someone flayed my freakin calves in my sleep. Just tough it out, rub some mud on it pal. :)

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

I've never had it done before and when he bashed my neck I swear to God I nearly jumped up, shouting "OH SO IT'S A FIGHT YOU WANT, IS IT?"

there are reports that the neck jar thing they do can rupture/tear the carotid. at any rate, my neck has never been the same since my chiropractic visits over a decade ago. my back got better, but that was actually the result of exercise as far as i could tell. never again, and i would not recommend a chiropractor to anyone.

I just got back from a local goth dance/party. It was fun and, seeing as it's on next week as well, there'll be a repeat soon. :)

A bad chiropractor can definitely do a lot more harm than good.

I prefer massage therapists. You can't really do much wrong just working knots out of the muscles, whereas messing with the skeletal structure is sketchy.

We're headed up to the mountains today for some fun. Hopefully we have some.

Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.

Umm... New Year's is tomorrow... I can't imagine you're that far ahead...

Just got home from the US. I had awesome luck on the flight as they needed volunteers to travel later. I volunteered expecting a night in a hotel, and 600 dollars plus sundries. First there was an error with the printer, which resulted in my being given a THOUSAND bucks instead, but thanks to my normal British charm the ladies at the desk let me keep the excess. They also offered to boost me to one of those escape aisles with extra legroom. I pointed out that being a shortarse I would be needlessly depriving someone taller so (without my knowing at the time) they boosted me to business class as a joke on the theme.

The hotel was excellent and I spent most of the time enjoying the facilities, watching the sci fi channel and eating room service. The food I mean, not the people.

And my New Years present is: A Stomach Flu!

Well, I guess it could be food poisoning. The symptoms (nausea, diarrhea, body- and headache, dehydration) are quite similar. I haven't puked yet, but the nausea has gotten close to pushing me over the edge from time to time. This sucks.

United. I was pretty lucky to get a good airline and a good team of folks to talk to, but keep in mind I was operating on about 90% charm to secure the deal I got, and I can be - as Samuel L. Jackson would say - one charming mother ****ing pig.

if it is food poisoning, you would know it. you would also be spending much more time in the bathroom on your knees, too. i had to be taken to the hospital the one time i had it. it doesn't typically result in a fever or other aches, as i recall (going on memory from what the doctor told me... probably could check wiki but i'm hungover and not feeling investigative right now). anyway, they gave me a shot that cleared up the nausea in half an hour, and immodium will always plug the back-end rather quickly. add in some saline drips through an IV and i was fine in under 2 hours though i felt out of sorts for a day or two afterward.

technically, there's no such thing as the stomach flu, though i've read that the flu itself can cause nausea and diarrhea (as well as the other symptoms, obviously). i haven't had anything like that in a long time, fortunately, and i certainly don't envy you.

we went out to eat at carrabba's for dinner tonight. excellent, as always. going up to ski in the morning, and staying to ski again sunday, too. tomorrow night is a steak night in downtown frisco.

i actually got "bumped" from my seat once due to overbooking and had to accept a first class seat in return. same flight, of course. they actually asked if i would be ok with that. my reply had something to do with bears and pooping in the woods.
