They work fine for me. Maybe the "epic fail" is on your part?

 

Clearly MY fault the AI does not run the tactics slots I set. Isn't this akin to saying well the car I bought works fine, so clearly no other car from that dealer will ever have a problem.

I'm sorry, but if it works fine for everyone but you, there might be something to it...

 

Also we have identical copies of the game, so get a better analogy.

Taking a quick look in my game, it seems like red tactics are tactics that have some enemy condition set as the condition. I only looked at it briefly though.

Hmm, I'm not having any problems with the tactics slots, unless you counting me not getting < and > the right way round when it comes to glugging potions of course. Sometimes a character will do something irritating, but I'm glad I'm not playing a game on autopilot for a change. I'll reiterate - after NWN2 I seriously forgot what it was like to control a full party.

 

Having said that, you do have to sit down and figure out tactics slots, it isn't particularly intuitive.

I just loaded it up right now. Unless the local copy here is different than what went onto the shelves, Default does say that characters will follow.

 

I SHOULDN'T need to hand hold them (at least for this) if I have the #1/2 slots for pots.

 

I agree, and I'm surprised it's not working.

 

Can you do me a favour and take a screenshot of your tactics page?

AI does stupid things in my game too, but it ignores player commands, not tactics.

 

 

I found a lot of these issues occurred when I set the party to "hold position" (only for the bigger fights).

 

I'm not 100% sure, but I think movement, particularly with the WASD commands, can trigger the NPCs to follow you.

I wasn't moving. I set Wynne and Leliana to shoot at some archers and was waiting for them to finish/heal them (hold position was on). L didn't shoot, I switched, told her to attack, Wynne stopped shooting. Switched, told W to attack, L stopped shooting. Repeat endlessly.

Hmmmm, what system are you on?

 

I think some people have reported similar issues of the AI literally stopping at the social site.

More then I am complaining about this. So it does not run for 'everyone else' fine. See the official forums and other posts here.

 

To answer your question however, are the VARIABLES the same? No. Clearly you never programmed before. Thus why it could be working fine for you but not others. Perhaps the bug in the code is related to only certain NPCs or certain events or so on. Anyways if you never worte a line of code in your life then you speaking out of ignorance. If you have then you clearly were not very good at it or understood the concepts of said topic. Either way its very possible with todays programs to have it work fine for one person and not another depending on how that use it. No matter its clearly a bug.

I drink potions manually. Wynne heals as she should, if that answers your question.

Only Dog. He uses his other skills normally too. The condition is under any circumstance (I've got a localized DA, so no idea what it's called in english).

Well, clearly the problem is the inferior language used.... (Actually...it'd suck if that was the problem).

 

Just doing "bookkeeping" buuuut, the tactic isn't set up below other ones in such a way that it will never achieve it, correct? That is, by your account, it is reachable?

 

Next, can you use Howl manually?

Try putting it first, just to make sure that there's nothing blocking it (based on your description, there shouldn't be). That should confirm that there's definitely an issue with the tactic.

Activate it with the Dog in the party. He can go fetch you a piece of dirty yarn. Hooray. It's a gift item-- apparently there's a companion out there somewhere who likes filthy yarn covered in Mabari slobber.

The tatics page is awesome. If it's not going right it's either a bug or you screwed up. It just takes time to elarn. It's called a learning curve. I know I made my share of mistakes with it including some epically dumb one like messing up the <> arrows. Nothing more fun then seeing your party drinking all of heal potions when they are at 75%+ hit points. L0L

 

The AI in this game is fantastic. The player AI can be dumber. I think a certain someone just wants the game to play itself. Well, it simply can't do that. Thankfully. Because, the game is supposed to be like the IE games where the player controls all the characters.

 

The deepspawn are not orcs. They're nothing like that. People also seem to be forgeting that ogres are considered deepspawn so I geuss they're orcs too rightr?

 

And, the dwarves have only superficial simialrities to klingons as both are borrow a lot of stereotypical stuff from other sources. The dwarves are dwarves.

 

Combat in this game ahrd , isn't dumbed, and doesn't hold your hand. Unlike pathetic games like FO, BG, or the GB games. Thank good. Only the smart can play it without crying.

 

I play on hard, and I die my fair share. That's cool. I doubt I'd be able to handle nightmare, though. Some should just play on easy and deal with being laughed at.

 

Morrigan is perhaps the best joinable npc ever in any game. I ended the life of a certain assassin at the moment I spotted him. He's a scumbag. Circle Tower and the Fade was fun stuff. Shale is funny.

 

The writing , overall, is very good, with some moments of really deep maturity with some momennt of shallow immaturity.

 

The main story is arlight but nothing special so far. Definitely seen worse (SOZ and NWN2); but I've seen better (MOTB).

 

I'd say more but the Obsidian big wigs don't like spoilers on these boards so I won't be able to do a full review of the game here. :rolleyes:

 

Game isn't perfect; but no game is.

What does this landmark do? I can't remember if I found this or not.

There's a landmark in every area. You have the dog use them, and he "marks" them, which gives him some kind of buff whenever he's in that area.
