Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.

am feeling a smidge sorry for josh... if we were capable o' feeling sorry for josh. this guy is either a poop magnet or he is doing something serious wrong. the crap projects that josh joins mid-development, and games that is simple cash grabs for bis/obsidian, are the games that end up getting completed... but the games he is the least bit enthusiastic 'bout (torn, fo3, bg3 and aliens) all get canceled.

maybe the solution is to not let josh work on games until they is +6 months into development... or maybe only let him work on games he thinks is teh suck.

freaking stormcrow.

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

There is indeed an albatross lying on deck, as yet another project floats about aimlessly on a dead sea.

Maybe JE should get back into hagiography.

Does this mean that we have to hope a lot of people buy the latest Sonic games so Sega gets the cash? -_-

Game remakes/sequels/extensions by Sega I would rather see:

Gunstar Heroes

Shinobi....a better one than the last one

Streets of Rage...maybe a new one for a portable system?

Afterburner

I thought Sega made Strider, but that was Capcom. I would love to see a new Strider game on current gen systems.

I'd like to see a PROPER sequel to the Phantasy Star series! And also another Jet Set Radio game.

Ecco the Dolphin plz.

I wished for a sequel to NiGHTS into Dreams, bought a Wii as soon as I could shortly after it got released. The controls were clunky as all hell, pretty much killed the game for me. What's my point? If sega decides to make a sequel to a series you like, expect at least a little disappointment.

As for Jet Set Radio, I agree. Sequel would be nice if they can gather up enough talent to not somehow **** it up.

Can't they just continue with fewer people on the project?! It's Black Doggie all over again.. phff..

How about we:

1) Pull everyone off Alpha, and finish Aliens.

then;

2) Put everyone on Alpha, and finish that!

o:)

Yup, I studied philosophy, not business.. :)

Why would would Obsidian fire the Alien crew if they're going to continue it?

John Gonzalez, the fomer creative lead on Aliens: Crucible is currently working as the creative lead on an unannounced project at Obsidian. (OT: his EndWar blog post)

I wonder if George Ziets still works at Obsidian.

Well, he got back just a few months ago. It'd suck if he'd have to leave right away just after returning.

Listen to my home-made recordings (some original songs, some not): http://www.youtube.c...low=grid&view=0

If both the RPG and the FPS were actually canned then both Obsidian and Gearbox would have to take down any and all of the material they have up on both websites. Am i right?

This just ain't right.

Variety's The Cut Scene

Publishers busy doing what they're not supposed to: Switching developers (March 9)

...And of course there's Sega's two "Aliens" games, previously in development at Gearbox and Obsidian, both of which have been taken away from their respective independent developers while the publisher figures out what to do with them. According to my sources, the games were put on hold purely for budgetary reasons. Sega is suffering from the recession and its own business problems and can't justify spending the millions it would take to finish producing them, especially since they might not have even come out this fiscal year.

That leaves Sega with two games it would still like to complete, as I've previously reported. But doing so will probably require, yes, handing them over to new developers...

Don't **** up sega, make solid games not cheap ones or nobody is gonna buy them.

Seriously, what's wrong with sega? They seem like the dumbest publisher ever.

Yeah, lets blame Sega for the recession. Anybody wants to pin the global warming on them too? :p

Easy now, we don't really know much except that their budget currently is stretched beyond its breaking point. The specifics of the whys and wherefores are guesses, only for the "insiders" to know currently

It doesn't help that the term "developers" is used arbitrarily to describe individuals and companies on the internet. It seems logical that if it goes on a hiatus for anything more than a short notice, the people (developers) working on it will not hang around. They are too expensive to keep on a payroll.

I was very curious to see how this was going to be made, sucks.

What if I wanted to kill the other bounty hunters but still have the Twi'leks chase me?

If its true, it only makes you wonder what will happend to the relationship between Sega and Obsidian, or the Western's perspective on Sega itself for making such move. Can pretty much presume that Obsidian has all the right to feel upset to see their work taken away from them to change hands.

But the reality is, changing hands with an RPG games that is possibly more than half-way into production pretty much likely to be a messed up title. Imagine the game that was initially made with a Western RPG mindset and then to be recreated or changed to fit the Japanese RPG type of game(Assuming the game is moved into Sega's in-house dev in Japan) is a situation that pretty much mind-boggles me. Or have it continued development with Sega's in-house responsible for making Iron Man and Golden Axe: Beast Rider, though it will be a disappointing scenario considering the outcome of the two games mentioned.

I can only wonder if there is a way for Obsidian to be able to compromise with Sega by means of working with a lesser budget with the same given timespan. Either way, its already March and there is yet a public announcement from Sega regarding of the Aliens RPG title, so there is the possibility as we know it that they are waiting for Alpha Protocol's sales performance before making any concrete decisions.

In short: Everyone, buy Alpha Protocol immediately upon its release. If the sales are good and Sega still maintains the stupid decision of changing developer's hands for the Aliens game, we can pretty have much have rights to bitch and whine openly then.

Don't **** up sega, make solid games not cheap ones or nobody is gonna buy them.

Seriously, what's wrong with sega? They seem like the dumbest publisher ever.

Sega owns Creative Assembly (aka Total War series) and is still publishing AP, so its not 'dumb'. It has however hit a financial hurdle and made some silly choices (Sonic Unleashed) and as always the smaller Devs are the first to be hit.

It is times like this that I imagine being a independent dev house is hard.

That leaves Sega with two games it would still like to complete, as I've previously reported. But doing so will probably require, yes, handing them over to new developers...

There really isn't that many successful/good independent RPG dev houses around after Obsidian, basically all thats left is CD Projekt which is most likely busy with whatever they are doing. In any case, I believe Obsidian is the only independent dev house with enough experience and talent to make it, if its not made by them, it probably won't be worth getting.
