SteveThaiBinh Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Locked for becoming unnecessarily unpleasant and threatening to get worse. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
SteveThaiBinh Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Upon request, I'm reopening this. Let's resume the substance of the discussion, not the tone, eh? "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
taks Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 i always thought you were a bit of a dreamer... ahem. taks comrade taks... just because.
Azure79 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 It doesn't have to be called BG. But BG is a established, recognized name so if the game is made with the spirit of BG, and featuring similar gameplay, why not call it BG to attract attention and potentially generate increased interest for it.
Dark_Raven Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Nah. They can call it Forgotten Realms Reborn or How 4th Edition Screwed Up a Good System and Setting. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
taks Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 now you're just being cynical, raven. that's the brand recognition thing we were getting at earlier, azure. it is a valid marketing ploy. taks comrade taks... just because.
Shryke Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 i still say gimme Waterdeep we've had Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter, Luskan, Akthala (sp?), Targos, Easthaven, Kuldahar bound to be more i've forgotten of course, but i don't think we've had Waterdeep when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Hurlshort Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I think moving to Cormyr would be great. The Vast Swamp could be a fantastic area for a game. But to be honest, I'm happy moving away from D&D altogether for a bit.
SteveThaiBinh Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 The Cormyr module for NWN was pretty good, but I'd rather follow MotB's footsteps and head off east or south and away from the Sword Coast. It would be hard to justify calling it BG3, perhaps? I do hope they continue making DnD-based games, so that there's an alternative to the Oblivion/Fallout player-skill action model. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Shryke Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 what about Zhentil Keep? when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Volourn Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 That have alreayd been games set in, and around Waterdeep. There was HOTU, and there's the EOTB series both mostly set in UM/UD; but *shrug* there's your precious Waterdeep. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Shryke Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 maybe i should hunt around for NWN1 again then i never actually tried out the expansions - mainly coz the OC bored the hell outta me when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
taks Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 hotu is pretty good, but sou is kinda sucky like the OC. taks comrade taks... just because.
Dark_Raven Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 The Sword Coast is a nice setting. Thanks to BG1 and its beautiful 2D backgrounds, it made the place come alive. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Magister Lajciak Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Obsidian could clearly do a good job with BG3 - making an excellent new D&D 3.5E game and throwing references to the Bhaalspawn saga. The only problem in that regard is that I am not sure Obsidian could handle the workload considering how many other games it is already developing.
Dark_Raven Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Well they could drop them or delay them. They wouldn't have the sales of a BG3 2nd ed or 3.x ed game would. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Volourn Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 "They wouldn't have the sales of a BG3 2nd ed or 3.x ed game would." L0L DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Rostere Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Ok, 4e DnD sucks, but 4e Realms... Is an entirely different thing. And not in a good way. "Well, overkill is my middle name. And my last name. And all of my other names as well!"
Dark_Raven Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 "They wouldn't have the sales of a BG3 2nd ed or 3.x ed game would." L0L Don't LOL me, its true. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Nick_i_am Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 They wouldn't have the sales of a BG3 2nd ed It's funny because it's true. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Killian Kalthorne Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I think that our dear and lovable Dark Raven has a severe phobia of change and getting with the times. "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
Llyranor Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Only a close few are allowed to touch my body. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Killian Kalthorne Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Um... Okay. "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
Walsingham Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Only a close few are allowed to touch my body. *touch* "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
