So long as the engine is not as unpresentable as Gothic 3 when it first came out. That was unbelievably bad.

I can imagine it now, a regular day at Obsidian Entertainment...

Feargus Urquhart: "All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the corps! A day at Obsidian is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade!

I LOVE Obsidian!"

Avellone: "Hey Sawyer, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"

Sawyer: "No. Have you?"

The bug reports start filing in, pages up and down with bugs to squash, and the programmers, fully dressed up as Marines, start jumping for cover amongst the cubicles.

- "They're coming outta the walls! They're coming outta the goddamn walls!"

- "Game over, man! Game over!"

rofl, good quote memory.

The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling to discover how many of our glib assumptions, which seem to us novel and plausible, have been tested before, not once but many times and in innumerable guises; and discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false.

But! But! You gotta show us the money! :'(

Oh god, the hype is starting!

"Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

Hope nobody trips up in this thread, would hate to think any of us could fall for the hype.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I never know with Sand whether to tell him to calm down, or wake up.

Maybe a little of both. :*

tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.

From what I've heard from guys at Sega of America, they are really excited about this game and are saying so far it could be 'the game to have' of 2009 from Sega.

So yeah I look forward to seeing more, someone hurry up and show us something... even if its concept art.

Yes from Sega, whats your point? OH, right yes... Because everyone knows Sega only released games that suck.

Ok, got you.

Know alot about Sega do you? You must... As a mod I wouldn't expect you to just blab about stuff you don't know about just because it's the 'in' thing to do.

Christ, I'm not going to start making a list or anything but if you took the time to actually look at Segas line up instead of just talking with no evidence, it's probably one of the best of any publisher right now.

Perhaps we'll finally get answers to those absolutly vital questions we already asked about this game.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Don't get your hopes up. This game will surely be crawling with bugs, if you know what I mean. :shifty:

Space Marine 1: This some kind of bug hunt?

Space Marine 2: Yeah, the bugs are doin' the huntin'

This confirms it... if the game is indeed tyte it will feature...

CONFIRMED

IT'S GOT CRATES!

Man, J.E obviously just got the crate-engine working, that's totally sweet,

Yeah one of my unanimous sources at Black Isle studies confirmed that there will be a miniboss alien that tosses crates at you. Said crates will explode in a hail of wood and splinters upon impact, with a small chance of spawning medkits and ammunition.

Make sure the cat's AI has its following functions programmed by a high school student who doesn't even even know how to use Word. That way it's consistent with every other escort mission in gaming and the real life behavior of a cat!

Nothing wrong with Sega, but they are just a publisher here.

I think the point was that "from Sega" gives off the image of Sega having a lot to do with the game's development, which they do not. All Obsidian handiwork.

True that.

Though a publisher's support and willingness to take compromises as well as flexibility in allowing the Devs to their creativity reign is equally important too.

I think so far, SEGA as a Western video game market publisher, has been doing a very well-done job. In addition I recalled reading an article stating that SEGA won the votes amongst developers of being the best Publisher out there.

Though not perfect like all publishers out there (Sega's main weakness is in the marketing department), but thus far the games published under them, Condemned, Medieval 2 + expansion pack, Universe at War, are considered as good track record for now.

I rather like SEGA, they publish quality games.

I'd like to have sauce for that statement though :ermm:

How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them.

Ok well when I said 'from SEGA' I ment published by SEGA in 2008, The Publisher does play a big role in how well the game turns out even if they didnt develope it and lets not forget who baught the Aliens licence in the first place!

Either way SEGA often has a large number of pretty cool games coming out, even more so now that they are Publishers as well as Developers so the point I was making was if I hear them really excited for a game then IMO it's a sign that it's coming along nicely... I have no idea what the second game Obsidian and SEGA are doing togeather is but they said that game is really cool too.

There is no source... Only my spies.

I work for a website seganerds.com a pretty popular Sega fansite so we have spies all over the place. ;p

Publisher's mission is to create good working conditions for developers. Developer's mission is to create awesome games :ermm:

My take on Tigranes' comment is that the Sega made an announcement about a game and it's not always wise to take for granted when a publisher promotes a game, even when they promote one game from among their own line-up.

Now, before you go commando on me, or attack Tigranes again, think of the sentence:

"from what I've heard from guys at Sega of America, they are really excited about this game and are saying so far it could be 'the game to have' of 2009 from Sega."

I'm not saying that the guys at Sega of America are lying or that they don't look forward to the game. However, when the statement comes from someone with a vested interest in the commercial success of the game, it isn't out of line for someone to make the rather innocuous response:

"Yeah....from Sega."

a long time ago I saw an old build of the Aliens game and I personally thought it was intriguing. There are great things on which I can't comment now and there are questions I have regarding some of the gameplay that sprang to mind after the fact, but I'm looking forward to the game. I won't go so far as to say that I'm certainly going to buy it at this point, but it had a real Aliens feel to it. I was not a fan of the Aliens setting for an RPG, but I think they just might pull it off.
