Volourn
Spectres have very little in common with Jedi. More in common with other 'secret' organaizations which the Jedi Order isn't. Rosbjerg
Defenders of the galaxy and all.. But they are different where it counts. Bionic powers though - are very similar to jedi powers. So as a Bionic Spectre I kinda felt like a Jedi with a blaster. Fortune favors the bald.
Volourn
Sure. they have similarities; but they still aren't the same. For one thing, the Spectre's moral code is nowhere near the same as a Jedi's. And, the 'bionic powers has nothing to do with being a Spectre either. In fact, not every spectre has 'bionic power' while I have never heard of a jedi without the 'Force'. So, nope, not the same thing. 'Defender of the Galaxy' is not unique to Jedi either. Plus, Spectre's main loyalty (presumably) is to the Council and Citedal; not really the Galaxy. And, even then their loyalty is often split ie Or PC Spectre's loyalty is torn sometimes between the Citedal/Council and Humankind (just look at the ending). No Jedi would ever do soemthing like that. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Wrath of Dagon
Their main similarity is that each one can do whatever the hell he wants, there's no law for him. Spider
The spectres remind me a hell of a lot more of the Rangers from Babylon 5 than they do Jedi. They do, on the other hand, feel a lot like a carbon copy of the rangers.

Parallels could be drawn between Babylon 5 and The Citadel, although that would probably be stretching it a bit. Fortune favors the bald.
WILL THE ALMIGHTY
The point is every story they make always involves a huge organisation of elite warriors bent on defending the world from evil. And there's pretty much always and ancient race involved too. Different games, but they never completely start a story from scratch, which is annoying. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Calax
Would have been interesting if instead of just you saving the universe as seemingly the only specter (you only encounter two others and one is offed rather swiftly the other is EEEEVILLLL!) you had to interact with other factions of the Specters... like a paragon and a renegade faction and depending on the faction you had different things happen. Like the Squirrls and the Order in Witcher. huh... for some reason this made me think that a good RPG would be Inquisitor from warhammer 40k Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.

Oh, wait, no huge organization of elite warriors or ancient race. BG2? I don't recall a huge organization of elite warriors and I wouldn't call Irenicus an 'ancient race.' NWN, it has the ancient race, but no HOEW. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon. With all the party members you could have leveled to the cap, you certainly had the elite warrior part down. Irenicus wasn't an ancient race by himself, but I suppose you could technically call him a member of one, not to mention all his evil drow henchmen! Jade Empire had the spirit monks as their (ex-)HOEW but I can't think of any ancient race there. It was all pretty present day.
WILL THE ALMIGHTY
I bet 50$ the next major Bioware series (not sequel mind you, that wouldn't be fair) will involve an ancient race and an organisation of warriors bent on saving the world. thepixiesrock
That isn't the next major Bioware series. It's an already established one. It doesn't fit the criteria for your own scenerio. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
Obviously. That was an example, same for Dragon Age. I'm talking about the next series they unveil. Those we already know about obviously don't count. Edited October 22, 2008 by WILL THE ALMIGHTY "Alright, I've been thinking. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
How did I make a mistake? I was pretty sure it was obvious. Okay. I bet (insert amount of money here) that the next Bioware series to be revealed will feature an ancient race that mysteriously disappeared and a group of warriors bent on protecting the world. You know, what usual Bio games have. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad!
