Let me put it this way: If you've never illegally downloaded a movie, it is worth doing so with ANY Uwe Boll "film". DS is surely no different. Some reviews are out already so you can get an idea of how bad it is. I don't understand how established actors can be convinced to play in these movies that will read like blemish (?) on their CV. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. Hurlshort Posted January 12, 2008 Share Posted January 12, 2008 Shoot 'em up - Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for this movie, but I found it unwatchable. I gave it twenty minutes, then I fast forwarded through most of it and found nothing really appealing. Sure, the action scenes were ok, but I found myself uncomfortable with the baby being in the middle of a gunfight, and everything else was just bad. The dialogue cheesy, which I wouldn't mind, but the whole circumstances around most of the scenes made me feel icky. And does formula not exist in this bizarre world? Unfortunatly, one of the most ridiculous idiotic stories I've ever seen. A posse trying to bring an outlaw to a train, the 3:10 to Yuma to be hanged with the constant threat of the criminal's buddies following the posse trying to rescue him. They need to get him to the train for the 200 dollar reward. Along the way the outlaw offs the posse members one at a time. Remember... this is the wild west. What does our posse do about their rowdy but talkative criminal? Do they hog tie him so he can cause no more trouble? Do they gag him so he can stop messing with their heads? Do they break a few bones to make him more managable (remember... wild west)? No... they treat him like they are escorting a VIP across the country. The ending reaches insanely ridiculous heights as the last surviving member of the posse becomes buddies with the criminal, and the criminal decides to HELP the posse guy take him to the train to be shipped off and hanged as his criminal buddies try and rescue him. A further hilarious moment is when the train finally pulls into the station amidst a final gunfight between the criminal's buddies and the last surviving posse member. The train has a car that is for criminal transport... but not a single guard. The criminal ends up openning the jail cell and putting himself in the train. I also found it funny none of the people in the cell bothered to try and escape as he just opens the door and gets in. I can't believe this movie has recieved such a high rating at IMDB.com. Oh, and a few more golden nuggets of bs include: -Early in the movie the gang of bad guys rob a stage coach with a crank operated gatling gun on the back. Despite firing on the closely grouped gang of bad guys at medium/short range the guy manning the gattling gun can't hit them, or their horses. In fact one of the bad guys rides up to the gatling gunner and fires near point blank with a pistol to kill him. -After stopping the stage coach a character recieves a brutal close range gutshot wound. He is rescued and recieves an operation on his gaping stomach wound by the local veterinarian and then the next day is absolutly fine, out horse back riding. Tough old coot indeed. -The main protagonist posse member is a civil war vet with a missing leg. I would constantly forget about his 'handicap' during the course of the movie as this guy hauled a$$ everywhere like he was running a marathon. He's leaping off roofs, sprinting across the desert like it was nothing. I had no idea prosthetic tech was so advanced in the 1800s. I've just seen Rapture, a short movie about some extatic church-goers. Don't know what to make of it, though it seems pretty demonic yet alluring, kind of church propaganda? Cheesy perhaps, but it was clearly intentional and it's pretty much non stop action from the first minute to the last second. As a great plus, it also has Monica Belluci as a prostitute. Oh and the soundtrack is awesome. theslug Posted January 15, 2008 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Disturbia. Shia LaBeouf actually did a pretty good job acting here and as a whole the movie was surprisingly pleasant enough to watch. It's pretty easy to hate movies like these becuase generally they are horrible but it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't watch it again but it kept my interest from begining to end and that's an accomplishment. I just can't stand how they make people so retarded in these films. Walking into a killers house calling out "mom" every 15 seconds. Not a very good idea, especially after he just thrashed like 4 people within 5 minutes with a bat. 7.5/10 - Well paced, competent acting all around but in the end an uninspired thriller with crappy liberal underlying theme of big brother and some crap about rampant paranoia. That's because while watching it, I thought it was the best movie I had seen in years. Then, when the other survivors turned up, I thought it was the worst movie I had seen in years. It felt like a completely different movie. It was quite obvious that it had gone through many rewrites to make it a Hollywood ending. So, I guess... pre-Survivors part: 9/10, and post-Survivors part: 3/10 Still, that doesn't take away the strength of some of the scenes. Especially the death of the dog. Caused quite a lump in my throat. Evyone i've asked thas thought the same in some way. they're all like "it was a really good movie... i suppose i'd recommend it but i dunno". But yeah I guess what you said makes the most sense, though obviously it had other flaws. i think it's awesomeness in the first 2/3 was based of the "silent film" idea which they were emulating 1930/1904's films off deliberately (hence talking with dog, mannequins, trap, crazy car scene - all to counter the lack of dialogue). lack of dialogue wasd a deliberate choice pardon spelling/cohesiaon. durnk.
