The 2-part episode of Enterprise where they went back to the Evil Empire alternate universe was really funny. Especially when they all started wearing the original series uniforms. ;)

I actually enjoyed pretty much the entire 3rd and 4th season, discounting the episodes dealing with the aliens helping the nazis in WW2.

Inside Man: Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster are superlatively good, with excellent supporting cast in a Spike Lee film. I don't know how I missed this!

Flightplan: as bad as it looked in the trailers, with added balloon-help dialogue to pad out the nonsensical plot.

Ocean's Eleven (the remake): never bothered to watch this before, and the original was only remarkable for the extraordinary fact of the cast all being in the same film. Okay.

Too be honest, the evil alternates were the only episodes I had seen since a couple early in the first season. :teehee:

The first season was mostly pretty dull. The other seasons get steadily better overall. I think I might be in the minority, but I like it better than Deep Space9 or Voyager.

I think the show would've done better audience wise if the whole ST thing hadn't been completely over-saturated and overblown by Paramount, so no one cared much, by that point.

Hmm... well I went to see POTC3 in the theaters a while back. I thought it was pretty good, although I didn't know about the secret bit after the credits, so we skipped out and missed it. That's what I get for actively avoiding spoilers, I guess.

Also, it's not a movie, but I've been watching season one of The Office (US version) on DVD. It's been great so far. I've only seen bits of the UK edition on YouTube, but that looks funny too.

I finally got around to seeing the Johnny Depp version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when it was on HBO last week. I thought it was pretty good, although nobody could ever top Gene Wilder.

Oh, and last night I flipped over to Showtime after SportsCenter and they had a movie on called "Lie with Me." It was a really depressing art flick about this girl who's addicted to sex but is incapable of love. I watched a bit, but it was a real downer... something that's basically glorified softcore porn shouldn't take itself that seriously.

Also, I guess Showtime can show wangs. I did not know that.

There is a BRILLIANT film that I couldn't remember the name of until I happened across it the other day, called In the Company of Men

D'you know that LaBute's last film was the Wicker Man remake?

Uh: I watched Blade II last night (I liked it; I like most Del Toro films). Also, Wesley Snipes + Ron Perlman = (how do I do this again?) Win.

What secret bit after the credits?

It shows Bloom's character's return several year's later and their child.

Yar, ahead there be spoilers!

.....

According to the interweb, after the credits we revisit that lonely island beach 10 years later. Will is waiting for Elizabeth... you know, as part of the whole "once every 10 years you can set foot on land" thing that comes with the job when you're the captain of the Flying Dutchman.

But here's the kicker: when she shows up she's not alone... she's got Will Turner Jr. with her!

I guess those undead pirates are pretty potent, eh?

Yes, and there is more to it. Spoilers below.

According to the writers, Ted and Terry, not only is he able to step on land, but the curse is broken. Apparently, if your love is waiting for you for 10 years and the love between you two is true, then the curse will be broken and now Mr. Turner can live a normal, mortal life. Basically, he comes back, he's mortal, and they have a happy, lovely, uninterrupted life...until Jack Sparrow does something else retarded.

The scene between Tia Dalma and Jones was supposed to explain this to some, but it didn't get through to many. They spoke of how she wasn't there when he came back after 10 years, which would have ended his curse.

That's it.

I just did some quick research on this and it appears that it wasn't that the scene was supposed to explain it, but that the parts of the scene that really did explain it were cut.

Well, maybe I was able to decipher it because I was slightly spoiled by the internet. *shrug* Whatever. Maybe they figured it was enough for people to catch.

All I got from the scene was that

her not showing up was what caused him to shirk his duty resulting in the fishman portion of the curse.

Yeah, I'm with Tale on this one.

I surmised Jones' fishface was because he was dropping the ball on his job, which was why all those dead folks were floating to the edge of the world on their own. I gathered that she broke his heart (not literally, of course), but I wasn't sure how or why.

Davey Jones' momentary change back into a normal, uncursed human makes more sense now. At the time, I just thought Calypso was just showing off the power of her magic.

Thanks for the inside info, Omelette.

Well... She broke his heart because she is "as changing as the seas". She's fickle.

I assumed that as well.

Watched Black Snake Moan. Decent movie I guess, had no problem with watching Ricci being half naked half the movie but the movie overall wasn't anything special. 7/10

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

The series end episode for Stargate was pretty weak ....

Well, they're already producing direct to video movies for it, so maybe its not really ending until those are done.
