The player on this soddin' school 'puter tells me that I'm listening to Iron Maiden's 22 Acacia Avenue, but the cd in the drive is Kalmah's Black Waltz and so the fourth track can't be anything but the Dark Tower-influenced nifty piece of melodic death called To the Gallows.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.

Primus - Detachable ****

^_^ :):)) :D :( (w00t)

Wait, what? **** is a cuss-word now? I thought it was just a scientific term for male genitalia. This censorship thing is getting ridiculous. People who came up with it will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Billy Bragg - A New England

I was twenty one years when I wrote this song

I'm twenty two now, but I won't be for long

People ask when will you grow up to be a man

But all the girls I loved at school

are already pushing prams

I loved you then as I love you still

Tho I put you on a pedestal,

They put you on the pill

I don't feel bad about letting you go

I just feel sad about letting you know

I don't want to change the world

I'm not looking for a new England

I'm just looking for another girl

I don't want to change the world

I'm not looking for a new England

I'm just looking for another girl

I loved the words you wrote to me

But that was bloody yesterday

I can't survive on what you send

Every time you need a friend

I saw two shooting stars last night

I wished on them but they were only satellites

Is it wrong to wish on space hardware

I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care

I don't want to change the world

I'm not looking for a new England

I'm just looking for another girl

Hey Mus?, when did Amorphis turn into lame, generic metal? >_

I'm gonna go listen to Elegy.

Boo, hiss!

Don't get me wrong, I love "Tales from...", but the new sound is great too. And the vocals are less ridiculous.

But it sounds like every other metal band who succumbed to the ways of radio pop. :'(

Is there any metal band out there that still sounds like this?

Can I get a "radio pop" example?

Amorphis - Drowned maid

I think Eclipse is the best record of the year. Yeah, it's that good.

Man, I love that song.

Great, great line. I've been there, and it ain't fun.

Oh, and Jorian, I listened to that Nox song last night. It was very interesting, and skillfully played. Truthfully, it's not my cup of tea. That's just my preference though.

The funny guys playing the classical tune was cool to watch. Mostly I'm stoked that I found the Afterhours CD Ballads for Little Hyenas at Record Exchange last night for $2.50 -- what a steal!

Well, it includes a wide range of sounds, but within the poppy metal style of the new Amorphis, I'd go with Him, for example. It sounds like it's specifically marketed to angsty, moody, goth wannabe teenagers.

I can't believe I'm dissing Amorphis! They were like metal gods to me.

And you seem to have awesome taste, how can you like this? >_

P.S.: I just listened House of Sleep. Why????

I had the same reaction - well, the same written reaction: Why?? - except in my case it evolved into: Why didn't I just simply close the window when the huge, bulking dude (who sorta looked like Christ... huge Jesus complex) started squawking about his failed sex life?

Anyhow, this worthless chatter's triggered a Stoner binge... and God, am I glad I'm no longer able to sprout an Extreme Metal sweet tooth.

Some Atomic Bitchwax, some Fu Manchu, some Kyuss, and a touch of Sleep.

Ah, the Atomic Bitchwax. In the parlance of our times, their first album is "off-the-hizzy."
