Sonic Youth ~ Empty Page

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

I met this guy in the Tseno that kept laughing about my apparent lack of musical taste. I agreed that listening to music that hollers on the background is not really listening, you could just as well listen to recorded noise.

Then I noticed that he wears a U2 tour shirt.

Yeah, whatever.

Throw it Away - Toby Rand, I would have chosen him to win Rockstar, but Lukas was my 2nd choice.

Yeah, I got the "big" Eels CD, Beautiful Freak, from the library. So far I like it. They actually have like six Eels albums at the library. Go figure. Anyway, I just got back from a party thrown by a friend of mine. And just when I had gone a few days without listening to any Afghan Whigs or Twilight Singers, he played exclusively that stuff at this party. When I fall back into that stuff, I fall back hard.

He and his g/f went to the show with me back in May and some other random dude who was in attendance was rocking out pretty hard too. He had a Lollapalooza '92 shirt, so he was cool in my book as soon as I saw him, haha.

Anyway,

Poor Righteous Teachers - Black Business

And while I love this record, I'm gonna (momentarily) change it to a Leonard Cohen album. Songs From a Room? Songs of Love and Hate? The Future?

Or, I could just watch: (Tom Waits') Big Time.

Yeah, Beautiful Freak is their biggest success, but that's more because of the accessability of it (and the timing; when it was released anything even slightly alternative was bound to be successful). Personally, I recommend Electro-Shock Blues. I least recommend Shootenanny!, which was written and recorded in ten days which shows.

A few vids from the Touch and Go 25th Anniversary show, namely: Killdozer, Shellac and Man or Astroman? - yeah, I too wish I was a glob-trotting rich tit, cash flowing freely from me pockets.

Skyclad - History Lessens

Look what you get for following leaders,

who lead from the rear - where are they now?

What did we learn in history lessons?

How to sit quiet at the back of a class.

With so many things open to question,

it's too late to cry - there's no one to ask.
