Haitoku Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 (edited) Yet, they're still making Final Fantasy games... Hmm... Mah, them SS guys and their changes. LOL :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you played any? Start from number I and tell me there isn't drastic change in each game. Edited May 24, 2006 by Haitoku
Volourn Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 "Have you played any?" Every single last one, and even many of the side ones. "Start from number I and tell me there isn't drastic change in each game." Not enough outside of better graphics, and a variant combat system. Otehrwise, it's the same basic scenario, and game play. btw, I love Final Fantasy series. I have for a very long time. They're amongst my fvaorite games (most of 'em anyways); but I don't know how one cna post with a striaght face that a series with 12 games in it is a symbol of the company's 'willingness to change'. If that were true, they'd stop making them. Mind you, I don't really want them to as long as the series continue to eb fun. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Dark_Raven Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Nice to see NWN2 and Hellgate mentioned. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Haitoku Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Not enough outside of better graphics, and a variant combat system. Otehrwise, it's the same basic scenario, and game play. Let's be honest now, how much of the gameplay IS the battle system in Final Fantasy games? That being said... Reramping the battle system in each game does seem like a big change, doesn't?

Nothingw rong with that; but the FF games never scream 'change to me!".. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Probably the one constant in all FF games, up until now, is random battles. There have been significant changes in each of the games though, from D&D style magic system to learning abilities from weapons/armor you equipped, to removing the leveling system all together, to gaining magic by drawing it from your enemies, etc. Square managed to add something new with each installment in the series and while they were criticized for some things I give them props for mixing it up. Look how summons went from just being a prettier spell to actual monsters on screen that fought along side the fighters (FFX/XI). Look at all the changes between games in how spells and special attacks are obtained. Edited May 24, 2006 by Haitoku
Hassat Hunter Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 According to Volourn no differences were made between Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege2, so give up or end up discussion till infinity (engine re-used...) ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. StillLife Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Volourn is right. It's understandable why someone might like them, but seriously it is a bit silly to applaud a company for not being afraid to change when they're making the 12th sequel to a series, especially when so many elements of them have been very consistent from game to game.
Pidesco Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I say Bioshock all the way. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.

Darque Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 There's an interview video on Gamespot... not sure if it'll have gameplay though.
Pidesco Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 It doesn't. Ken Levine has actually said Irrational didn't want to release gameplay videos yet. Milk is better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are only 3 FFXI expansion packs and there will probably be no more (as stated by devs). FFX-2 is a sequel, the first of it's kind in the FF series.. . All those FFXIII are DIFFERENT games. First is your typical FF game. Versus is made by the Kingdom Hearts team and is more action oriented and I don't know anything about Agito yet. As for the FFVII stuff, you got me there.
Haitoku Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Got milk? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, yeah, you've made your point. <_<
