Deraldin Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Building ships is stupidly fun. I can waste hours just PLACING components, let alone deciding what to put on the ship.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've spent more time so far building ships than I have playing the game. :">
Llyranor Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 You jerks should get a succession game going! (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Jorian Drake Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Best strategy game ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know, i tested it
Jorian Drake Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 (edited) I've really been looking forward to this . Galciv1 was an excellent game, and the developers really work hard on patches and improvements, so no worries that the game won't play well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Any of you live near them? We could give them too flowers or candy in the name of the Obsidian forum Edited March 4, 2006 by jorian
Jorian Drake Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Too bad it doesn't have tactical battles like in MoO2 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Becouse this is STRATEGY ONLY...but I suggested them to make more types of games in this universe.
Llyranor Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Hehe, looks like the game is running out. Good stuff. http://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?forum...&aid=106477&c=1 (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Jorian Drake Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Yep , and it finally succeeded to become KING after MOO2 :D
Lare Kikkeli Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 (edited) i have way too many games to play...i might have to quit work and become a professional, well, nerd. and i've spent more money on games within a year than ever. edit: obviously this will be next on my list. Edited March 13, 2006 by Lare Kikkeli
astr0creep Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 GalCiv2 is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I just spent 3 hours building a scout ship! http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/
kumquatq3 Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Do you get to control your ships in battle? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, read the very page you posted on!

That's what I meant if I didn't make it clear.
Llyranor Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Er... no. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

You just pick when and where.
Gorth Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 (edited) Sounds great so far. Bummer about the lack of tactical combat though It would have been nice if they had done it like Space Empires IV Edit: No tactical combat, whats the point of carefully designing your ships then ? alanschu Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Your ships still fight each other based on their strengths and weaknesses. There are various armor types that are stronger against various weapons. Shields stop beam weapons, Armor stops mass drivers, and point defense stops missiles.
SadExchange Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 So you can't manuever your ships or anything like an RTS? Don't think that I don't enjoy Strategy games, I love the Civ series and was just wondering about the different aspects of the game because I'm really interested in this title. I've been reading reviews and looking over all the pictures and this title looks great. Would you compare the type of combat in this game to the combat in the Civ series then?
alanschu Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Yes. Three different attack types, with a corresponding defense type.
Walsingham Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I would buy this for one of my friends, but am instead spending his birthday money on some Aladdin style curly slippers. They are superb. kumquatq3 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Well, just got it and proceded to get my ass handed to me. Unfortunatly, I'm not really sure how that happened. A tad frustrating, but I'll give it another go. BTW, how the hell do you get trasnport ships? For invasions.

The research path to get that goes Galactic Warfare, Space Militarization, Space Weapons and finally Planetary Invasion. After that you should be able to build transports on any planet that has a starport.
