Eve, for me the best mmo on the market by far.

"The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Currently playing:

  • Deus Ex: Invisible War (with texture packs, finally got enough momentum to finish it again);
  • Opposing Forces: Source (it is a lot harder in Source, funnily enough, as the timings are all much faster);
  • System Shock 2 (nearly finished, on the sixth level);
  • Grim Fandango (waiting until I have some time and decent mindspace set aside to solve the puzzles, rather than be tempted to the DarkSide of the walkthrough).

Next on my playlist are:

  • Deus Ex (just because);
  • Deus Ex community module Zodiac;
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and bonus Mission Pack (bought this months ago, and I stil haven't installed it yet);
  • Rome: Total War, again.

Come again?

  • Deus Ex community module Zodiac;

This one is great. Unfortunately, it's the only community module that's come to fruition that I know of. And while long (for a fanmade mod), it's nowhere near the length of DX, so it's finished really quick. :devil:

I was reading somewhere that the game speed is quicker using Source, rather than the original game.

So, as it makes me feel better about my gaming (and fading hand-eye coordination), I took it as a fact. :D

Well, I don't doubt it, but... has this been released already? o:)

The Source game came free with the Gold (and Silver, IIRC); also, if you bought the original Opposing Forces, you may just register it using Steam, and you can play it through Source (which is what I did, I bought the Game of the Year Edition with Blue Shift, Opposing Forces and Counter-Strike).

:p

PS This is not the same as Opposing Source.

PPS It does seem harder.

Oh, right. I thought you were referring to the OF: Source mod. Because there is such a mod, right?

...RIGHT?

If by last game I played, you mean the last game I ran on my computer, it would be Europa Universalis 2 (with the Not So Independent Scenario mod). If you mean last game I completed, then that would be Donkey Kong Country 3, on my SNES Emulator. :-

I don't think it's Opposing Forces, I think it's Opposing Force. singular, not plural.

SpellMar is very proud of you. Yes, it is Opposing Force. (And we are still left to guess which is the force, and which is the opposing force, and there are many, so my defence is that I named it better than the developers, because they left it too ambiguous which force was the eponymous one. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

Fixed.

Damn! Caught out with one of my own pet peeves! (It was a typo, not a conscious attempt to rationalise Post Scriptum Scriptum as an alternative interpretation.) That'll teach me to proof my posts.

The OF currently on Steam doesn't run in the source engine. I'm playing it too, and it is very difficult - I think mostly because the enemies have so much health that the shotgun isn't a one-hit kill, which severly limits its use (since the rate of fire is so slow that you need a knockout on the first strike). I find it a pretty good expansion (I like the interleaving of the original story) and the alternation between combat and exploration/tension is fun, although the contribution to solving the HL mysteries is sadly small.

Anyway, I hope Valve respects the Gearbox contributions in the expansions as canon - I'm actually kind of interested in what happens to the OF protagonist in the HL2 continuity.

Considering their published opinions and their whole-hearted welcoming of the mod into the fold, I think that is a given. As to whether there is an Opposing Force 2, I would bet a London Bridge to a brick: Yes, if I were a gambler.

After all, Valve has specifically said they want to demonstrate the creativity built into the engine; translation: they want to milk this cash cow for a while and then come out with their next major project.

...last PC game I loaded up was 'nother run-through o' IWD-HoW-TotL...made it ta Kuldahar 'afore me ol' PoS p3 gave me the "blue screen o' death" gift again (comps on her last legs...thankfully I should be done wit' gettin' e'erythin' I wants an' buildin' me new gamin' rig by the end o' October)... <_<

...last game I's actually got ta play through was God o' War on me PS2...an' a wicked-arse game it be... :(

...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!...

A long, long time ago, but I can still remember,
How the Trolling used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance",
And maybe we'd be happy for a while.
But then Krackhead left and so did Klown;
Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town.
Bad news on the Front Page,
BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage.
I can't remember if I cried
When I heard that TORN was recently fried,
But sadness touched me deep inside,
The day...Black Isle died.

For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way
