Which weapons do you use?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but these boards are so large, it would have taken too long to search for a similar topic.

Well, I'd just like to know whether there's anyone else not using a lightsabre with his char?

I've successfully finished the game with two wonderful Sith Tremor swords (hope that's their name in English).

I do have a lightsabre, cause everybody told me I need to have one, but I never used it.

Anyone else using a different weapon? A blaster? Or even no weapon but bare fists? (I guess the last one might be a nice option for those who complained that the fights were too easy. :- )

Funny you should ask, I've been trying a new type of character lately, you could call him a weapons expert, I wanted him to be good with blasters and lightsabers both, but it didn't work out, you only get enough feats so that one weapon specialisation is possible.

I guess it's just like Obi-Wan said about blasters, they're no jedi's weapon.

I got a question though, is it better to got for STR or to go for DEX with finesse lightsaber.

Definitely Dex. You get higher Defense and Reflex rolls from it. Also, you'll be able to deflect blaster bolts easier with a higher dex. Strength can pretty much be boosted anyways by implants and whatnot.

Speaking of alternate weapons: I gave Handmaiden two Vibroblades with insane upgrades. She waded through the enemies. Totally unstoppable.

Bugs? Klingon Software does not have 'Bugs'. It has FEATURES and they are too sophisticated for a Romulan pig like you to understand!

Blaster? Interesting idea.

I always carried one with me as second weapon.

Vibroblades? Really? No Vibroswords?

Here are my endgame tremor swords, and that stupid light sabre I never used in comparison:

The lightsabre is hardly better, because I never put much effort into it.

Love my tremor swords.^^

Lightsabers can end up much better, with all the correct upgrades (five upgradeable components per lightsaber). Also they make that satidfying buzing sound when you flail them ... :D

49-150?! Holy Shiznit, mate. How is that damage range even remotely possible?

well, i never used blasters, they were too inaccurate for my taste.

I used a Sword and then the lightsaber when i made it, but its a pity that the loot was random, so i had to save the game and gave myself robes and lightsabers for me and my party members that i turned to the jedi.

How so? It is only four feats (2x Focus/Specialization) and some classes get Lightsabre Weapon Focus for free. The epic Weapon Specialization feats are superfluous by the time you get access to them - they only increase attack bonus, of which you have more than enough if you select suitable equipment and upgrades. Dito for Precise Shot.

A combined blaster/sabre Jedi is not only feasible, it is easy as pie. And if you're playing a male Exile then you can even turn this into an untouchable turtle build without sacrificing offensive capabities. Assuming that you have the Lightsabre Finesse feat, boosting DEX will increase defense, sabre attack and blaster attack. With Battle Precognition, boosting WIS will increase both defense and Force power.

As regards feats, any character with 16 CON can plug in an Advanced Combat Implant (craftable item) and equip a Multispectral Target Assessor visor (easy to find as loot at higher levels, some vendors may also have it). This will give you blaster Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, and Precise Shot I/II, and +4 attack bonus in addition to the feats. So you can try the stuff out simply by plugging in some equipment.

I typically start with an ordinary Vibrosword (or blade...whichever does 2-12 damage), and upgrade that until I have the 3 parts for the lightsaber. Sometimes, I'll continue with the vibrosword even after having the lightsaber, just because I haven't got a lot of upgrades for it.

By the end of the game, I typically have a normal lightsaber and short saber setup. Short saber with stronger defensive numbers (high BBD, defense) and the normal saber with offensive numbers.

Once I finish my 4th game, I'll have real fun:

Game 5: Blaster Jedi

Game 6: DS Weaponless

Game 7: LS Weaponless

(w00t) Yep It's called a greatsaber

Here's the mod

some screenies

It says: Restricted to 100% Dark and yet your character is not even a Dark Sider. How can you wield that weapon at all?

And I think that weapon is a bit overkill. How fun is it to walk through the game killing everyone and everything in like one blow?

(w00t) I used another crystal mod wich seems to be a little buggy :("

The blade is good altho you lose the extra atack given by the 2-bladed version :)

I love my second greatsword tho,it yields nearly constant criticals (600 damage max)

The game is far from easy cause I tend to use reballence mods

And the greatsword mod also transformes vibroswords in 2-handed vibro-swords ;)

Oh,and that blade is also restricted to lightsiders ;)"

I always make sure Kreia is empty handed when we reach the Harbinger ... so that she magically crafts a vibroblade when a certain "sleeps-with-vibroblades" NPC appears ... :("

Heh, when I first watched that bit I was wondering where she got the vibroblade from. I checked my Exile in case she nicked it from her, since the exile was the only one that had one at the time.

Yeah, well, considering how clumsy she is, I didn't think she needed my Exile's sword ... she may be handy, but we wouldn't want her to lose it ... :D

Hmm... so most of you do use lightsabres for their characters.

@ psycho_leo: But it's not much better. And I didn't want to use it. I would have only used it, if it had been absolutely necessary, but it wasn't.

And I don't care for that sound. Probably because I'm not a Star Wars Fan and not into this Jedi-stuff...

@ metadigital: Yeah, I know they can be better. Especially when you have two of them, like my brother once had with one of his chars. - But my char only found those double-bladed ones. The only normal one I had I gave to Bao-Dur.

@ starkiller: Weaponless? Cool. Would be nice if could come back here and tell us how it worked.

I already had my 'Episode VI Emperor' style fun -> I've gone to Trayus academy and didn't put out my saber even when fighting Sion. Kreia though proved more challenging.

PS Anybody else think walking is such a cool feature in kotor? (w00t)

Like when I renember going to the Rakata slaughtering them after giving Bastila my lightsaber - she ran and Flurried everyone I pointed at and I was just walking and Force Choking/Storming those ahead of me. (so many awesome memories I got from my K1 DS Soldier/Consular game ;) )

Well, I did it for KotOR 1, so I can tell you it wasn't too difficult.

In the beginning it can be tough, you're doing 2-3 damage at the most. Scoundrel/Consular is definitely the way to go, because Consular is going to have the most FP, and Scoundrels have (say it with me) Sneak Attack, my favorite feat. Stasis + level 5 Sneak Attack means you're dishing out some fair damage.

In KotOR 2, I imagine its going to be easier because you've got the Unarmed Combat feats that increase your damage.
