" and 'soon' the first mammals evolved from the cynodonts" ?

Lois: Honey, what do you say we uh...christen these new sheets, huh?

Peter: Why Lois Griffin, you naughty girl.

Lois: Hehehe...that's me.

Peter: You dirty hustler.

Lois: Hehehehe...

Peter: You filthy, stinky prostitute.

Lois: Aha, ok I get it...

Peter: You foul, venereal disease carrying, street walking whore.

Lois: Alright, that's enough!

" and 'soon' the first mammals evolved from the cynodonts" ?

yes, probably, although I have no real idea how long it'll be - depends how much they are going to fix :p

I assume you are referring to the patch and the "coming soon" message on the website?

Patch process at Obsidian Entertainment

Obsidian Exec #1: "So we released an incomplete and buggy game. Let's patch it."

Obsidian Exec #2: "What are you, nuts? We already made a killing selling TSL. A patch is free. We need something to make money. I know! Let's work on NWN2."

Obsidian Exec #1: "But it would be kind of nice to salvage at least a little of our reputation."

Obsidian Exec #2: "Hmph. OK. Programmer!"

Obsidian Programmer: "Yes my master?"

Obsidian Exec #2: "We are patching TSL."

Obsidian Programmer: *whimpers* "Please, no more kicking."

Obsidian Exec #2: "How long will it take you to write the patch?"

Obsidian Programmer: "Well, we could fix all the glaring bugs... and maybe even add some of the deleted content back in... with QA, I'd say, three weeks... OWWWW!!"

Obsidian Exec #2: (wipes blood off boot) "You were saying?"

Obsidian Programmer: "I could fix the most glaring bugs in three days, but then there's no time for QA.... *whimper* please let me go home, I miss my wife and kids."

Obsidian Exec #1: "If we release a patch in 3 days, customers will think we rushed it, too."

Obsidian Exec #2: "Hmph. You're right. Programmer!"

Obsidian Programmer: "Yes, Most Exhalted One!"

Obsidian Exed #2: "Go work on NWN2. You can code the minimal TSL patch in your spare time for the next 30 days. Yes, I know you'll have to be here 24/7, oh well. And if I hear you say "QA" one more time, I'll f#ck you up with a crowbar. Now scram."

Obsidian Programmer: "At once, my Master."

Obsidian Exec #2: "Webmaster!"

Obsidian Webmaster: "Yes, your Lordship."

Obsidian Exec #2: "Put some kind of a vague message about a patch on the website for the fanbois."

Obsidian Webmaster: "Yes Sire."

Obsidian Exec #2: "There, you happy?"

Obsidian Exec #1: "Yeah, right on!"

*DUN DUN DUN*

Funny.

However, having some experience in programming, the programmer wouldn't quote 3 weeks to "fix all the glaring bugs"

In fact, that'd be nearly impossible. Anyone with any training in programming or testing can tell you there comes a point when further testing is no longer cost effective. Products almost always ship before they are perfect and even if patched, still have some flaws in them. This is just a fact when you develop things as complex as TSL.

WTF ?? ;)

Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.

I know, I pulled timelines out of my arse.

Of course we know when the Patch will come out.

Soon is closer than never, but farther from now.

rofl@Damar Stiehl post. Hmm there still patching diablo2 5 years later and 10 patches later-so soon might be not in your lifetime. :)

Hmm there still patching diablo2 5 years later and 10 patches later-so soon might be not in your lifetime.

Are you saying that it's a bad thing to have developers being so devoted to a game that they bother to patch it for years and years after it's release?

Well... looked it up in the dictionary...

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.
