Other than a weak version of sneak attack and force camo do they get any other abilities.

In the loading screen it says they get defensive abilities but all the weapon based classes get greater prestige sense.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

Hell no. The Watchman gets the most skills, and unlike KotOR 1, they're actually pretty important, both in making items and in dialogue. That easily makes up for any other shortcomings.

Irrelevant. The Sentinel gets the same amount. The only real difference between Sitinel and Watchmen is the sneak attack SP mentioned which isn't worthy of a "prestige class". Seriosuly, how many would be Jedis use their character to sneak attack the enemy? Probably not much.

I multiclassed into Wtachman from Sintinel and my character pretty much got nothing out of it. I should have skipped the whole PrC completely.

You also get more force points per level, and unless there's something wrong with the game mechanics (which wouldn't surprise me, frankly), you get the sneak attack bonus when your enemies are in Stasis, so since I ran into pretty much every fight by throwing a Stasis Field first, pretty much every attack I made was a sneak attack.

Meh. Couldn't tell. Was doing mondo damage either way. <> And, force points were so high as a Sentinel anyways 1, or 2 more force points meant very little.

Both the Jedi Weaponmaster and Jedi Master got KEWL special abilities that put them above the "normal" Jedi class alternatives.

They have some special special abilites, but yes, I'd agree that they aren't as far above their intended base class as the other PrCs are. And the point is quite a bit duller than that of a Guardian or Master.

Sneak Attack works on any opponent that is not attacking you; and is hence labelled 'flat-footed', unless they have a certain 'level' of Uncanny Dodge. That is why you can simply attack a foe who is attacking a party-member, or a foe in statis/stun/choke and do Sneak Attack damage against them.

Which, in other words, means that you don't need to enter stealth-mode to use Sneak Attacks, making the Watchman a viable class. And a good one at that.

I've heard the Jedi Master prestige class is broken, as it doesn't get the defense bonuses it's supposed to, making it worse than a consular. And Jedi Weapons Master is alright...

Jedi Watchman kicks major ass though, I went from Sentinel to Watchman and I'm pretty godlike.

Sorry to break this to you, but that has nothing to do with the class you chose.

I meant I'm godlike compared to how I would be if I was a Jedi Master or a Weapons Master... the watchman is a good class... although it seems like Prestige classes don't get too many perks. They need to make more stuff for them, make it REALLY different... and make the game harder. KOTOR2 is a bit on the easy side.

The weapon master is lethal compared to the watchman. Plus they get a huge number of feats which none of the other prestige classes seem to get.

new ranks of two weapon fighting

new ranks of saber specialisation

damage reduction

extra damage

If you want a nice relaxing game a consular with support feats and a couple of attack powers is great. Sit back buff party and watch them run off and kill things.

I'm going to take a Sith Marauder for a spin then shelve the game I think. Time to move on.

Marauders are great, but fury is kinda bugged.

If you use it with master speed your screen looks normal. You don't see any speed effects or rage effects. Kinda messes up the immersion.

And when one effect wears off while the other is still active, the screen reverts to either a speed or rage effect again.

I guess it's ok if you don't really like either of the effects to begin with. Your powers still seem to work just fine... Awesome damage potential with that class.

About the Watchmen:

There's nothing wrong with this class if you're looking to progress into something new while staying true to the themes of the sentinel base class.

It's not as powerful as weapon master, but weapon master isn't really meant for the sentinel. The abilities of the watchmen accompany the abilities of the sentinel better, though they may not be as powerful as the other prestige classes they are certainly more befitting to their intended base class.

I quite enjoyed my watchman, but really, most of you are saying the watchman is crap because he gets no special feats for combat. And the description of the watchman shows that he is not a combat oriented individual

All the skills were quite useful, and the sneak attack is very handy. Many times an opponent would walk away to reposition himself (if a group was attacking me), and would get a neat little list of 58,47,82,91 over him from the sneak attacks :D

Agreed. A pure scoundrel with a -1 modifier to constitution wouldn't have a problem being "pretty godlike" in TSL.

Jedi Watchman (or Sith Assassin) actually is an all-round, well-balanced, extremely-flexible class. Good combat skills, good force proficiency, good feats choice, balanced stats. Also, Watchmen/Assassins are good enough at almost everything: persuading, intimidating, lying, stealth, crafting, and so on.

Moreover, you can 'customize' their growth more than the other classes, so you could have a Force-oriented or a combat-oriented Watchman, a sneaky or a charismatic one, and so on.

My favourite class. EVAH.

The problem with a Watchman is not the power level; but the fact that a pure Sentinel is pretty much exactly the same thing. There is nothing really to set them apart. Unlike the vast differences between a Guardian and Weaponmaster. If you want to be like a Watchmen; just stick with Sentinel as its basically the same thing.

Ah that must be what it meant by excellent defensive capabilites. Thanks for clearing that up.

I though some defence feats had been left out or something.

Well, since the AI doesn't use grenades, Force powers or combat feats, it's pretty useless to have uber saving throws... icon3.gif

Eh ? It uses all of those..

No, it doesn't. The only enemies that use grenades are some miner droids and the obvious 'sith grenadiers'. I haven't seen a single enemy use combat feats, and only once some Sith Lord used lightning against me. Not even Sion or Nihilus.

Sion contantly power attacks you can tell from the animation and the damage.

Depending on how long you draw out the battles they will use different powers.

The problem is that the damage you do is usually so high that by the time they figure out it would be a good time to do something healing related they are already dead. Try running away (which is something you dont have to do and you will often get a force lightining thrown at you or in Sions case he will guardian jump)

When I took on Nihilus with a stock saber he cheerfully death waves everyone around after his health drops below a certain level. Normally with your uber saber he's dead in one strike.

I've been hit by grenades in several places. Not just peragus and the grenadiers.

What difficulty are playing ?

Um, no. Sion only broke down my protections the first time I found him. That's about all the Force he used. I just brought them back up, and proceeded to give him the beating he was entitled to. Nihilus didn't even bother with my protections. He just tried to saber me down. I'm not overly fond of uber lightsaber upgrades, so I didn't have a one-hit-kill lightsaber for any of those encounters.

Guardian jump is not a Force power like the others because it's activated automatically to attack distant enemies if the line of sight is clear.

But even if it is as you say, that doesn't explain why the other bunch of Force sensitive enemies you fight in the latter part of the game don't use Force powers either. The same for combat feats.

I've tried both difficult and normal, and it doesn't seem to affect AI behaviour.

He's never done that on me. I've been force drained by him I think. Vrook constantly heals himself but again that was with a stock saber so he wasnt taking major damage(only level 16 at the time too). When I meet Sion this time I'll just goof around and use trauma packs see what sort of moves he comes up with.

I dont think they get much of a chance. In Trayus it goes something like this.

Combat mode force lightning/spam force wave everything dies rinse and repeat.

Nothing much lasts past the first or second flurry even Kreia.
