Zach Morris Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 I started 8 a long time ago and did not like it at all. But the same thing happened with 7. I first played it and hated it but now I am enjoying 7. I just bought fallout 1 and 2 in a pack. So I was wondering which one do you guys think I should play?
NeverwinterKnight Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 definitely the fallout series. you dont necessarily have to play 1 before 2, but since you have them both you might as well.
213374U Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Fallout. Then Fallout 2. Then Fallout. Then Fallout 2. When you're done, TSL will probably be out already. After you're done with that one, you can go back to your daily Fallout/Fallout 2 routine. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

Legend of Dragoon is terrible, AND has bad dialogue. By the 10th hour you'll beg for FF8. Thats the only way I was able to finish it. Thoug to be honest, FF8 was ok until the end of the 2nd disc. Then you find out that EVERYONE is from the same orphanage, even Seifer and the god damn sorceress. And the real villain is some bitch from the future who wants to destroy the universe for no god damn reason. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Drakron Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 FF VIII The juntion system requires learning, its not a easy or much funtional system. The magic system is pretty bad (in relation to the rest of FF games) since until GFs learn how to distill magic from items you need to steal it in combat, it ends up being boring spending a lot of time to max up the party magical storage (that is limited, another serious flaw) from weak fighters. Still there is best looking airship on FF games, its character lack the "anime" look of FF VII (I did not get it because of it), strong character development but I am going to warn that FF VIII is a love story, yes there is the save the world and all that stuff but that is not the game story.
Whitemithrandir Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 But seriously: what is FF8 doing on the same list as FO/FOII? Word economics To express my vast wisdom I speak in haiku's.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 FF VIII wasnt one of my favourites but it was still pretty good. It certainly had it's memorable moments like finding the research station in the middle of nowhere.. It also has the coolest vehicle out of any of them, and the worst.. You could probably play both FO's in the time FFVIII takes, and have some time left over. If you have a lot of free time play FF VIII if you only have a day or two , play FO I&II. I find that If I'm enjoying something I like play similiar games until the mood passes. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
kumquatq3 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 FO 1 or 2. I played FO2 before FO1, so it's not that big of deal, in terms of order.
Azure79 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 I pretty much enjoy the FF series. The first FF I played was FF 7 and I found the gameplay and storyline entertaining, probably because it was something new from the CRPGS I had played until then.(BG and Fallout) Then I went back and played through FF 4,5 and 6, six being my favorite of all the FFs I've played. Probably because of the sheer amount of interesting characters you could play and Kefka...this guy is one of the most seriously wacko villains in games IMHO. Eight I enjoyed as well. It was a sappy love story with the usual FF staples but I do like sappy love stories(yes I admit it) and was happy that things worked out for everyone. Never played FF9 or FF 10. I'd probably give them a try given the chance, but I don't own a PS2. Uhhh..but for sheer enjoyment play Fallout.
Darque Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Fallout FF8 is my favorite of the series... but blowing things away with a plasma rifle is just fun.
kirottu Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Fallout. Fallout 2 is fun with cha 10, sex appeal trait and kama sutra perk. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Volourn Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Play all three. FF8 is the best FF of them all. Only FF6 comes close. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
213374U Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 You could probably play both FO's in the time FFVIII takes, and have some time left over. If you have a lot of free time play FF VIII if you only have a day or two , play FO I&II. Huh? What are you talking about? I beat FFVIII in like... 3 days. Compared to VII it was really short (or so I've been told). Anyway, I don't see how you could play both Fallouts in the time it takes to do FFVIII. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
mEtaLL1x Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Of course Fallout series!! Better play both F1 and F2, but if you want to choose only one, then I say Fallout 2..... I dunno, but I found it more interesting. I just didn't like that time-limit and kinda of shrinked world in F1 In F2 I actually LIVED, walking it through countless times......
Zach Morris Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 But seriously: what is FF8 doing on the same list as FO/FOII? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because they are the RPG's I own on PC (if FF8 even counts because it is a port).
Aponez Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 FF8, because is the only I played PRIUS FLAMMIS COMBUSTA QUAM ARMIS NUMANCIA VICTA
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Huh? What are you talking about? I beat FFVIII in like... 3 days. Compared to VII it was really short (or so I've been told). Anyway, I don't see how you could play both Fallouts in the time it takes to do FFVIII. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Depends what you do. If you rushed through FFVIII then FO I&II might take longer but otherwise FFVIII is a longer game with many more distractions. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
Volourn Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 "Huh? What are you talking about? I beat FFVIII in like... 3 days. Compared to VII it was really short (or so I've been told). Anyway, I don't see how you could play both Fallouts in the time it takes to do FFVIII." FF8 is wayyyyyyyyyy longer. FO1 can be done in about 10 hours; 20 max. FO2 is 20-40 hours max. FF8 is 40 hours minimum. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
mEtaLL1x Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Never done FO2 in 40 hours.... I think it's too munchy to finish it that fast. I could spend A LOT of time in FO2 - that's why I love it so much. It's so endless... Especially the first time - so much to explore..... The more game hours the better, as long as it's interesting.

I like the game but his constant self reflection etc. makes it a real pain plus long side tracks to dialogue and background - I hate Trabia Garden above all others (and the reliving life in the orphanage scene!) . Unfortunately all three are very dated graphically now (though FF8 cutscenes particularly the dual with Seifer at the beginning are still awesome - one of best scene setters yet - liked Tidus and Blitzball too - shame they listen to Rammstein in Blitzball stadiums though!). Personally I recommend Fallout 1. Omega Weapon in FF8 is a cinch just refine the Laguna card for 100 heroes (Laguna card can be won from Ellone aboard the space station), combine with invincible moon, the limit cheat (1/3 health and keep pressing O) and lionheart/Wishing Star and GG!
Zach Morris Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 Yeah the graphics aren't that hot. But that doesn't bother me too much. I started Fallout and FF8. Going back and forth.
