Kind of funny that it's the AI bubble popping* after Trump's big 500bn AI announcement for sure.

That's actually slightly less than the value of nVidia dropped in a day. Terrible news for kitchen supply and animal skin based clothing retailers everywhere. Though I guess Jensen can always ask his niece for a job at Team Red if things really go pear shaped.

(I don't think anyone believes that Deepseek actually runs on $6m of hardware rather than a lot more but there's quite a lot of lols to be had watching people scramble over its performance. Also some rather off messaging about whether they 'really' have 50,000 A100 or 50,000 H100 running it- which probably shows how off guard they were caught if 'experts' are citing A/H100, and H800 as well- but even if it were true that's in the order of 0.1% of Trump's big funding announcement; and I'm not overly inclined to believe 50k of either without some actual evidence)

The reality of Gaza being ethnically cleansed from Palestinians is highly unlikely and obviously both Jordan and Egypt wont accept hundreds of thousands of Palestinians

Its an interesting development Deepseek and the main consideration is it "disputes " the view that the US will lead the AI war because of the billions of dollars of  research that IT companies are spending 

But  I dont see how Deepseek will ultimately win the AI war once all the various AI tools are established and the hype settles  because it has an inherent flaw, its a Chinese product which means its governed by what the Chinese allow to be  accessed 

Its hard to think most people outside of China will consider Deepseek more credible than the various Western ones if you type in " Tiananmen square " and the result is " I dont know anything about that " 

And that is the current reality of Deepseek. Any serious AI tool surly cant have that type of obvious search restrictions

I guess it's just meat for people that think Iron Dome is some mythical defense system (pro-Ukraine people were like this), but ignoring the limitations of the system in terms of missiles it's guarding against and the area it's protecting.  Maybe Canada will start lobbing MLRS at..uh...Rochester and Buffalo and the like ?

But perhaps I was mistaken though and he just wants to be Reagan with SDI

I did  a quick experiment with Deepseek, I used the tool to search for " China Uyghur Muslim mistreatment " and I got this result

The current targeting of medical and scientific work by the administration makes me wonder if we're in for a Soviet-style repression of politically unacceptible science. I.e. vaccines, public health, social science, clean energy, global warming, &c.

The Tangerine in Chief's conspiracy sphere seems to be slowly turning against him. People are already calling him a psy-op for wanting to make Canada the 51st state, which is apparently is one of the goals of the New World Order. He's also been called a deep state agent by supreme conspiracy nut David Icke for various reasons, like meeting with Bill Gates and coming back with a positive attitude towards potential new HIV vaccines.

Can you give me your opinion on  something because you often respond in an objective and reasonable way

The PEPFAR  funding has been temporarily  suspended and several  clinics dependant on that US funding have closed until this funding comes back

South Africa is part of BRICS and one of the main objectives of BRICS is to create a multi-polar world and the definition of a multi-polar world is literally about different seats of power and influence 

So you would assume that if the US stops any funding of any institution then BRICS can step in and deliver on  one of its core objective, that is one way to create a real multipolar world. It has to be about more than grandstanding and statements. It must be about action and when Trump pulls back this is an opportunity for the likes of BRICS

But people dont even consider this, it  seems  if the US doesnt do it then these institutions will collapse?

I know this is  a question that BRICS and South Africa should answer but Im interested in what you think? BRICS has several of the wealthiest top 10 countries in the world and its not like they cant  afford it and there objective clearly stated is this belief for support for the global south which this funding impacts the most 

End of the day I see this strange contradiction around US influence and it manifests itself in examples like this .  Many detractors of the US criticism the US for insidious imperial tendencies and how it uses funding to influence its own geopolitical aspirations. And now when this funding ends or is suspended I hear " OMG, the US has stopped funding. How are we going to survive " 

It creates this impression the US is the only country that can provide this aid ?

So my question is a simple one, if the US economy collapsed and it couldnt provide this aid what would happen?

I do believe in a multipolar world because there are already different seats of power and wealth. Is this not the time to demonstrate that belief  and not be reliant and assume only the US can provide this funding?

In the days of yore there was no income tax in the US, but tariffs were levied and financed the federal government. Several attempts of introducing an income tax and the SCOTUS striking much of it down eventually led to the 16th amendment, giving congress the constitutional right to set income taxes without apportionment to the states. The amendment was ratified because Republicans and Democracts alike were of the opinion that tariffs unduly affected people with lower incomes, something a progressive income tax would not.

The politicians of yore knew what the current Republican Administration apparently forgot: who actually pays for tariffs.

If these vaccines were developed by <enter favorite secret society here> to <insert favorite nefarious purpose here> then why did Isreal hug all the dosages for their own population, going so far as to outbid other nations by paying double the asking price just to have enough?

Considering that COVID vaccines are now some of the most distributed vaccines in world and their long term side effects are close to zero still, but people still are spreading claims that they killed millions of people, caused lots of long term side effects like infertility, miscarriages etc. without proof and same time demanding proof that they work, even with dozens of studies showing that they work at least on short term.

So I am quite sure that those people see only things that they feel to prove their claims and anything proving something else is just lies by lizard people
