Did you end up watching Interview with a Vampire on AMC?

These days I'm less interested in purely vampire-based plot lines, so no I haven't watched it. I have enjoyed Being Human though, perhaps because it's a mix of themes.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Second episode of Sherlock & Daughter.  Wasn't sure if this was going to be one of the shows that was all in on a season arc, or a series of little mysteries that are part of a bigger.  Seems the latter based on them resolving the first issue.  Still enjoying it.

Black Mirror, recent season: 1st episode was interesting, if not especially entertaining. 2nd was ok. 3rd I turned off after some minutes (just found it not-interesting). Skipped to the USS last episode. Didn't like it either.

Hubby's decided to watch all of ST: Strange New Worlds. I walked by once and noticed something that confused me Pike and Kirk -lore wise  - I guess they are using the alternate timeline/universe stuff, or something. I think one reason I became tired of so many sci-fi/fantasy  is the overuse of alternate/multiverses to give familiar/fave chrs new arcs that would otherwise maybe require new characters. Not just ST, but superhero, even shows like Supernatural, etc.

Then again, I seemingly dislike everything now, so ... I'll crawl back into my cave.  😛

In the classic series, Kirk mentions meeting Pike when he was promoted to Fleet Admiral (i think that was the rank). They contrive a temp promotion for Pike to not violate that.

Same here. And in my case I have completely stopped watching those movies and TV shows now because the moment they say time-travel/alternate blah blah, it is immediately a hard 'NO' from me. I even refuse to play video games that do that.

My confusion whilst walking by was seeing Pike mixed in what looked like the ST:OS Balance of Terror episode goings on.

Edit: ofc I have no idea what was going on, just sliding by, but that immediately screamed time jumping/alternative times lines. I remember the whole Pike point is him having visions of his future and wanting to alter it I guess. Which makes me roll my eyes. At this point I don't care how they justify it. Such used to be occasionally fun, sure, but I'm so over it.  2ndedit: I can still kinda like one-off time jump episodes, just a fun adventure romp, ala that ST:OS movie, but when they try to get all serious I clock out.

I think that episode actually was a time travel thing, IIRC. Pike gets a vision of what happens if he changes his fate (because Pike had a vision of his future injury in Discovery) so in that case he's the Captain, not Kirk for Balance of Terror..

I finished the 3rd season of Bad Batch. It was a very good show from start to finish. I worked my way through The Clone Wars and then went straight to it, and it really fleshed out the whole timeline. It was easily some of the best Star Wars content I've watched.

Now I'm trying to watch Rebels. Its...different. The tone is a lot less serious. It is tough going from Bad Batch, which was gritty and grounded, to this kind of goofy Jedi adventure. Even the art is a big change. But I'm giving it a shot, and I hear it gets better as it goes along.

I also enjoyed Rebels, more so after the first season. I never could get into Star Wars Resistance.

I heard through the grapevine that Wheel of Time S3 is "a masterpiece"

I looked it up and first thing I read is "Aviendha-Elayne sex scene"

lol

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Just finished watching 1883. Was a lot better than 1923 - felt more grounded in reality and with less cheap drama events.

I know a man ain't supposed to cry, but these tears I can't hold inside.

Watching WoT would end my sanity, because it's just that, uh hmmm, plain crappy?

etc etc and with copious apologies to Marvin Gaye. Not that he's likely to take offence any more. I certainly put in more effort than the show's writers anyway. Except when it comes to finding extra screen time for their boyfriend.

(Wheel of Time has the most obvious astroturfing campaign I've ever seen. Starts one week before release, ends one week after the finale. 98% of the 'people' who loved it seem to have completely forgotten about how awesome it was, outside that window)

I finished watching Snowpiercer. It was a fun series, even in the scenario is completely implausible. All it would take is one large tree fall or landslide and the train is halted in its tracks. In some ways the scenario reminded me a little of the Fallout series with its mad science experiments in the various shelters.

The acting was pretty good though, the characters were suitably flawed, and there were some decent plot twists. It's always fun watching Sean Bean, in this case as the devilish engineer mastermind. Daveed Diggs was a good casting as the charming revolutionary, and I enjoyed Jennifer Connelly's work as the icy train engineer. Another favorite was Bess Till, as a truly tormented soul. All in all an enjoyable cast.

I enjoyed Sanctuary, a Witch's tale on AMC+. It was better than I was expecting and was actually more about the drama than fantasy magic. The modern witch hunt tale felt entirely plausible, given human nature.

I'm a sucker for witch stuff that doesn't suck. I will have to determine if Sanctuary sucks or not.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

The Four Seasons - Great cast and mostly humorous. I was too young to really get the Alan Alda version in the 80's, but this one connected with me quite a bit. My wife and I binged it on a Sunday, and that's pretty rare.

The Four Seasons (a series adaptation of the old film) - 1st and 2nd episode

I think it's supposed to be a comedy, and it did make me chuckle here and there, but mostly it's kind of ... sad commentary re: friendships, marriages and life etc. One of those types.  I recall my parents liking the Alan Alda film, so I know the basic premise, but I can't remember if I ever watched it fully. the Big Chill was the one I watched and loved ages ago. Just not my thing anymore I guess.

I'm waiting for the Andor season 2 to wrap so I can binge watch both seasons, probably followed by Rogue One. Can't wait!

Meanwhile, I'm watching the new Daredevil season. What I'm finding these days is that I prefer a low power superhero series as it can focus more on the drama and less on spectacular visual f/x for the various uber powers. Plus they don't overload the cast with power variants.

I thought Diggs was pretty weak, though still just good enough; the other main cast are great. I love the insane class/caste-based worldbuilding in these dystopian shows and I wish we’d spent more time seeing how people live in and navigate the systems. The revolution always comes too early!

TLOU season 2.

The girls aren't doing it i'm afraid. It's pretty boring.

I wish they would give Jeffrey wright an entire episode. He's pretty solid as Isac.

Havoc - Tom Hardy plays a detective in the new Max Payne movie. Wait, this isn't based on Max Payne? Huh. You could have fooled me. It had some good bits. Very crime noir and graphic novel-ish.
