Keyrock
I was not aware that the word "moist" had been cancelled. When did this happen and why? I think it's a perfectly cromulent word. Gfted1
Probably around the same time as "ignorant". Apparently it gives people the sads. 1 "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Raithe
Apparently over the last decade it's become one of those words that a lot of people react to in a "slightly icky, sexual awkward way" when its used. Helped by a certain creep of some pop-culture and characters shuddering when they hear it. The evolution of language and how swear words happen I imagine. https://nautil.us/blog/-why-is-there-so-much-hate-for-the-word-moist Edited January 17, 2021 by Raithe 1 1 "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum." The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder. -Teknoman2- What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past? Just sabot that ball and you've got a killer serve Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. The way I remember it, based off memory and no looking it up, there was a viking who was exiled from Iceland. Erik the Red, maybe? I think it was Lief Erickson's dad. Anyway, he sailed off and found a chunk of pretty hard land, but sold it as Greenland to get people to sail west. It probably was a bit less harsh than it is today, because there is some evidence there was a warming trend around the time. But it was still pretty harsh and the settlements didn't last long. Pretty sure I am off on some facts, but that might be the gist. edit: I was closer than I thought! Here is the medieval warming period that made it more hospitable: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age Edited January 19, 2021 by Hurlshot
