Diablo2 remaster - I wonder if PS4 version will require PSN+.  Graphically it looks like a nice job of overlaying updated graphics over the original game.  But I have no desire to use bnet account/sign in just to try it.  :P

Diablo4 trailer - all of these arpg's are starting to look the same graphically (including the D2 remaster in a way).  I guess there's only so many ways you can do top-down bushes, grass and walls but visually it looks so generic to me now.

Neither of their 2 remakes so far, SCR and WC3R, have been fully in-studio, I think.

Just hope they learned from that experience. SCR was pretty well received, WC3R... not. On the scope of the changes, D2R seems to be more similar to SCR.

well. for me the latter represents, how I am judging these games :) D2 was among my favourite games, but I'll wait how it plays out, until then, I have enough fun with Torchlight II, Van Helsing Trilogy and Grim Dawn ;)

I guess game studios have reached the same phase Hollywood reached a long time ago, the We're All Out of Original Ideas phase.

I  think it's less "no original ideas" and more the "fear that having no name recognition will mean low sales/publicity/not worth investing in" syndrome.

I think it's simply because a few remakes were successful enough at the right point in time to start a trend.
Plus for some reason updated releases for the next console generation became a thing and if you do that, which I imagine paved the way for remasters and remakes in the public perception.

There's money in nostalgia.

Ideally one that's playable without flight stick. That would probably change the feeling of the game for the worse, but at least I could play it again.

I think there is a difference between those two, at least in most cases. I assume to refer to Hollywood remakes, where is I see a good remaster to be closer to a blueray release of an older film. I like old games, and I like playing them - nostalgia, sure, but not always. There are plenty games I missed, and it's nice to be able to experience them in a more modern setting. Especially, if those games aren't otherwise available for digital sale, or don't run easily on modern systems.
I am less fond of heavily modified remakes - though I must say I did enjoy quite a bit the recent Mafia remake.

I actually need to play C&C - never played it before. First I need to finish the Homeworlds.

Or you can buy a stick. I am genuilly considering that (thrustmaster t 16000m?) though my pad's left stick is misbehaving, so maybe I will have to buy a new pad before that.

Well, you could play it with the mouse and keyboard.  Flight sticks are cheap these days, by the time they'd make this game they should be back in stock.

Have you ever tried M+KB in Tie Fighter? That kills your desk, and your mouse. And once you're done running through both your fingers too if you don't stop. ;)

For the one time in ten years I feel the urge to go back to Tie Fighter? Nah.

I could try to play with a gamepad, but I'm not sure that would work out too well. The game has ten thousand different keyboard shortcuts you ideally use and getting them all mapped on a pad is, uhm, not sure, let's say potentially a challenge.

As an owner of a Thrustmaster T16000M I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It's a great flightstick with tons of axes and buttons. I used and loved it in X4 (once the 4.0 update and new expansion come out I need to revisit the game).

I've gotten a good run with my (amusingly named) Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Was fairly cheap when I got it, too
