Whenever I took a break from my Ultimate run (level 15 halfway to 16 now) I tested around stuff with Soul Blade on a normal save.

My first approach was just to go soulblade/priest and kill enemies, but it's pretty obnoxious, since after every fight you have to use strand.

One Solution is to let fire dragon spawn infinite ads, as long as you are in the fight strand isn't necessary because of SoT.

However the oozes are rather tanky and without scordeo's (which isn't obtainable before killing the dragon) every single kill just takes a long time.

Belranga would work, but the more small spiders you kill, the more damage she gets and once she oneshots small spiders with her friendly fire this is almost as slow as killing oozes.

With a party this is easier cuz you can get a chanter to summon skellies for you, however even tho grave calling chill fog counts as weapon ability and procs itself, a confused soulblade will not trigger their on kill passive with this as its not melee weapon kill and killing them with single hits isn't the greatest, cuz no AI auto targeting.

 

During all the testing I did find a way to get massive focus started very early even solo, however.

Going Soulblade/ranger and downing your own pet hilariously enough procs the passive, you have to use necklace every 50 secs or so, but not too many times, because eventually the duration of your first uses will add up.

I would probably never do this for the Ultimate, but the effect is quite strong, my highest focus I rolled for was 11k, which does about 8.3k raw damage and for some reason only depletes your focus to 9k which will also hit for 8.3k.

This showed me how tanky upscaled doru really is, because he was only hurt after first hit, died to the second one, no idea how much focus you'd need to down him in one hit, since apparently it doesn't consume all focus at once. (18k or so would probably be relatively safe)

 

edit: oh and btw, while oneshotting Doru is unpractical and unneccessary, one cool side efefct this ahs, the starting focus will also be over 2k at every fight lmao (and you can get this as early as Hasongo)

earlier, armor from Arkemyr's vault works the same way as SoF, just needs proper upgrade

Oh didn't know that, but in my route Hasongo is earlier than Arkemyr:

Ironchadswept ruins, Deadlight, Dunnage, Hasongo, Crookspur, Theanic and then Fire drake.

Tbf Ranger/Soulblade might not be ultimate viable if reflect on monsters is out of combat, which doesn't seem to be the case from the buffbar, but then again prowling is also out of combat...

(knocking down animal companion is also easy access to shadow form, so you can just bop anyone with soul annihilation from stealth, needs more starting focus then tho, which increases by 3 or so per 10 max focus)

 

edit: hm against the dragons pre Ukaizo it shouldn't matter if one kills themselves with reflect, because combat will end and you will get up with injury, but I suppose Ukaizo would still phase, but is it even a beast? Should be a vessel right...

My guess is the game can't tell how much focus you have, once there is four digits.

You can't spend all focus at once, you do less damage than you should in one hit, but WAY more than you should in 3 hits (I did smth like 19k with 9.6k focus lol)

There seems to be no limit to how much dmg you can do in one hit, or at least not as long as it stays four digit.

Yay, my ultimate char made it to level 16, was  a little distracted last couple days so I didn't get to play.

Fingers crossed I won't mess up, but Salvation of time + BDD + Strand cheese should make stuff easy enough, I also have my alt at exactly the same spot.

I just failed the ultimate with my cheesy psion-trobadour after beating Ukaizo for about a day
... but at least now I know it is not impossible, you just need to be a little more efficient

I just finally got back on my run after not playing for almost a month.

I almost managed to kill myself at level 16, but slow mode saved my life.

Got Scordeo's, but was missing a tusk for Blade Cascade, ofc with my test char merchant in Periki had it, with my actual char ... nope.

So I went to Nomu, cause the boar has a chance to drop tusks, but since I've been playing too much with my test char lately, I forgot that I haven't fought with my actual char since I got SoT.

Halted Vela, went in lured bounty to her, withdrew her frightened, then went invis, after they reposition Bdd, but I realize too late I haven't set a proper Ai for SoT spamming, so I wasted a useless action on whatever the rogue default AI does, then realize it, am on recovery, open AI, realize the game does NOT pause while in AI screen, panick exit AI, cast Sot manually, back to AI screen, panic search for whichever of my quadrillion AIs is the right one.

If the game wasn't in slow mode I would have died instantly haha.

Edit: oh and ofc tusky did not drop ... a tusk, so now to Sayuka I guess?

@Raven Darkholme in undercroft there are boars on cage, should drop tusk. That's how I got it on my bm/skaen run.

I'd like to start a list of useful items primary for no priest subclass/no pure wizard builds using item switching to prolong beneficial effect duration out of combat ( strand of favor, cabalist's gambeson arcane extension, ooblit pet...), please add to the list if you find relevant missing things.

Note: a way to trigger watcher blooded state out of combat is using double necklace of fireballs on self, just pay attention when vela is moving around
also, any unguent can be easily prolonged for +2 skill

death's maw death runes? (within 5m of a killed enemy grants -15% incoming damage for 10 sec) not tested yet, may be not so easy to prolong

protective eothasian charm darkest before dawn (+5 health per 3.0 sec over 12 sec, damage reduced by -25% for 12 sec on near death), risky but good to prolong

resounding call call to arms (Destroying a destructible grants tenacious 12.0 sec), not super easy to prolong but doable and definitely great to have
scordeo's trophy opening barrage (stacking -5% recovery time), you can get very good recovery time just with this one before scordeo's edge

wahai poraga at blades reach -20% Melee Damage Received for 2.0 sec on launching attack (hit vela)

bardatto's luxury death and taxes: hardy on unconscious ally, not hard to trigger on combat and can be prolonged out of combat as it lasts long
bardatto's luxury grace: not sure but in theory you could be able to prolong the +3 health per 6 sec, harder though as starting duration is very low

devil of caroc breastplate devil's due +2 health restored per 3.0 sec for 6.0 sec on critical hit with weapons (hit vela)

scordeo's edge adaptive (+2 Accuracy with all weapons for 30.0 sec on scoring Hit, stacks 10 times, easy to prolong as long lasting

scordeo's edge blade cascade (ignore recovery for 5.0 sec on scoring hit, use it on vela)

griffin's blade loyal companion: steadfast on blooded, not so easy to prolong permanently but useful as alternative to no pity for the lost watcher ability

necklace of the harvest moon midnight wish (Friendly AoE: +8 health, +10 defenses for 15.0 sec per 3.0 sec, not tested yet)
necklace of the harvest moon midnight wish (yearly reap -5% Recovery Time for 6.0 sec on crit), hit vela with blunderbuss

chromoprismatic quarterstaff elemental induction (+15% Damage for 10.0 sec when hit with Acid / Fire / Frost / Electricity attacks), use necklace of fireballs to trigger

weyc's wand attuned channel (after empowering an ability, gain +3 Power Level for 20 sec, not tested yet)

1st column is line number = number of item switches, 2nd column is duration in seconds of applying 10% increase line-number times, 3rd column is in days, assuming 1 day = 26 hours
so e.g. if you start from a 12 sec duration, to prolong it for 60 days in theory you should switch the amulet at least (line 164 - 27 = 137 ) times

I think ideally you should switch when time is stopped e.g. on sea/terrain travel map

Yes you need least unstable.

All potions are combat only.

how do you utilize reforge the flesh? Thought that paralyze time will be prolonged by re-equipping the necklace?

Maybe it won't because it's not a benefical effect (even though its parent ability is listed there)?

there's some items that give you dexterity resistance. you could equip one of them so you're merely immobilized when proccing reforge the flesh. then you can just repeatedly re-equip the item to cheese it down to nothing at all.

Reforge the Flesh is considered an unique effect and isn't affected by resistance/immunity to dexterity afflictions.

It works a bit like Withdraw (that "stun" effect also isn't affected by anything).

Weapon switching out of combat works, from my testing you need to quicksave when being on a weapon slot you are not gonna use (kinda doesn't matter since you can just change weapons out of combat), because after a reload your recovery will be permanent on whatever slot you load into, then you weapon switch to the wepon your gonna use and recovery will not be permanent anymore due to scordeos.

Just can't switch while in combat but with all the crazy buffs you can get that is very minor.
